I can't begin to tell you how useful this review was to me. I had two major questions I was looking to find answers, and you answered them both---and I'm telling you I watched dozens of Elgato Prompter vids.. Number one I wanted a visual demonstration of their USB cable and an alternative solution which you gave me. .And the other (HUGE) thing was I have a Sony A5100 (older camera than your EZ-10) but with the same exact Sigma 16mm lens and was hoping to see it visually work. Now that I know my laptop is configured right AND my Sigma16mm can be used with this, I''m 100% getting this.. Awesome awesome video.

I just got mine today, tested it in a Google meeting and it was great. I’m going to try using it for a script next

Thank you for this thorough review. This is a “buzzy” product right now, and the interwebs are chock full of Prompter reviews. Honestly, the USB-A cable in 2024 and the apparently buggy software (or at least software without clear instructions) actually are factors that downgrade this product from “Buy” to “Wait” for me. And to your credit, you were totally candid about both of these factors.
It just seems Elgato has presented a “not quite finished” product. It’s odd: Elgato provides lens adapters in multiple sizes, but then uses a USB-A cable?!?!?!

Thx for the overview! A few questions: (1) How do you juggle working the remote to advance your script? I use both hands on my computer and mouse or tablet to demo Ps capabilities (I sorta hoped a teleprompter might have a foot pedal...), (2) I only do a screen capture in my tutorials (no video of me) so all I'd need is script display (I assume your tips on rings & lens wouldn't be relevant to me, right?) (3) What are the dimensions of the teleprompter setup? Your videos are so helpful & spark ideas of new things to try.

Great breakdown, Terry. I'm actually torn right now between getting a glide gear teleprompter to use with 10.2" iPad or alternatively the Elgato for talking head language education type content. Which setup would you choose for that sort of thing? Many thanks!

I have both kinds of setup and prefer the Elgato. Expecially since they updated their software to address most of my complaints!

Hey Terry. Do you know if you would be able to plug this into a Ipad Pro that has the USB C port to this prompter to use the screen? I am thinking of doing a mobile setup and would use a different app for the teleprompting.

That probably won’t work as there’s no iPad driver for it.
