This video is waay more helpful than a review should be. the title isn't click bait it's accurate!
I need more practice reading scripts for videos. this really helps give me a focus and know that it isn't just me 😂.
The prompter could be very helpful for me for practicing and focus.
I also already do the outline thing it is SO helpful to focus me on streams and videos.

Tip for people who have a hard time "speaking at" a teleprompter: you can create a dedicated scene in OBS with the script/chat source on top of a copy of your webcam source so you see yourself while reading. This can help you psychologically, making it easier to pretend like you're talking to someone, and you'll also be able to see yourself as others can see you.
I made a video and written guide on how to do this, if Adam is okay with it I'll leave it at that otherwise I'll edit this comment and delete the self-promo.

"Working with a big teleprompter is a pain in the..." You just took the words out of my mouth, I bought a big tele because not only I was gonna use it with a decent zoom lens and cheap 8in tablet, but just the fact of setting it up is just nightmare fuel, I still cant believe the few times I've used it were I work the thing doesn't come falling off, camera included. Sure having a big teleprompter is nice for the person reading it (specially when you work with elders), but too big is just obnoxious, mine is just slightly bigger than the Elgato one, but its not as easy to set up since it uses lots of mounts.
This one is clearly the successor of the Parrot, just wished that at least the Elgato one had an SD reader + buttons just to choose the file as well so its not USB only reliant. I would have gotten the Parrot in the first place if it was just slightly bigger. Now? I would just go for the Elgato one.

I don't have a camera to use with a teleprompter. (I do have one, by the way.) My camera is my phone. So, I put the script on my monitor, my camera in front of my monitor. and read the scroll. But, you can tell my eyes aren't focused on the camera though. Any suggestions on how to improve this?
Also. You nailed the script preparation part. Write your script to speak, not to read. They are not the same. People do not read the same way they speak. It's important to learn the difference.

@6:15 you mention you can pop out any chat in dark mode and use control + to make the text bigger. Can you elaborate on that?

    • @EposVox

I purchased a 16" Teleprompter all metal for 140.00 with the ability to accept monitors of up to 16" by 10.2" . I also bought a 15.6" monitor with 1000 nits capabilities and the ability to flip the image on Vertical, Horizontal, and Vertical + horizontal axis all built into the monitor. No need to go through an HDMI Flip Box or Software. I wanted to use the Teleprompter as a normal working monitor when not Live Streaming etc... Also normal monitors produce 400 to 700 nits and appear a bit dull after hitting the two-way mirror... with 1000 nits the image appears nice bright and sharp ... cheers amigos !!!

One innovation I would love to see Elgato make with a Teleprompter 2.0 would be the inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack for using the prompter with a lavalier microphone to be able to utilise and take advantage of a voice tracking teleprompter application such as PromptSmart Pro. 🎙️🗣️📝

Leagues better than a phone clamp and cold shoe mount on top of my camera, resulting in me looking above my camera kind of awkwardly (especially since i have to squint a bit to read chat from 5ft away on a cell phone screen).

Thanks for the video. Guess I will buy one sooner or later. Probably when I get annoyed setting up my teleprompter the next time, which is always a pain. That said, I also got 2 tips which were not mentioned here: One actually concerning connecting to a usual teleprompter using a phone. There is an easier way than using googledocs. I just activated Developer Mode and Remote access via USB on my phone. So I basically plug in the phone to pc via USB, allow connection and then got a "scrpy" connection script and then I just have my phone screen as window on my windows environment, can handle the phone with mouse, copy/paste and whatnot. And that point I can just copy paste passages directly from my PC to the phone, basically just one window to the other and done, super easy, and also much more elegant if you need to edit something, which you got to do often, e.g. to adjust your script to sound more natural.
My second tip is regarding the eye movement. I guess with ADHD you got the "advantage" already of having a hard time sitting still, but if you talk "with your whole body", including the head, the head movement basically "masks" your eye movement.

I strongly considered this one but was worried the text etc wouldn't be large enough with my eyesight.
I may pick one up at some point and try it out to see, especially if the current setup doesn't work out

Why is there a grey haze in your video?

  • @VideogamesAsArt
    @VideogamesAsArt ปีที่แล้ว

Sadly, public speech is something I have wanted to do for years now but there is nothing around me, I would have to take a boat or a plane in order to attend any in person classes. And thióse are the paid ones (very expensive uni courses). Free ones... who knows
On the other hand, getting this prompter just for chat reading would be (of course less worth it and impactful as well) much less difficult, since you are literally just reading someone's thing and your own answer is not a script.

With my Desview T3 and Sigma 24-70 lens, it's actually not the prompter that shows up but the actual mounting ring that you screw on that causes the vignetting. Will the Elgato Prompter screw on ring cause vignetting too?

I honestly can't wait to get one. I played with it at TwitchCon, and for my use (having my gameplay on the prompter screen) it's a game changer. I struggle with eye contact while doing champion spotlights, so this will be perfect, and unfortunately (most of*) the DIY versions just don't do that for me.
