BTW, the mention of a "democratic candidate" at 2:00 meant someone running for the Democratic-Republican party, which collapsed in the early 1800s. The modern Democratic party descends from one of the factions of the older party.

Never heard of the story with la Malinche and cocktails, but I did hear about her in history class. While it's always commented they were lovers I remember discussing in class how that is quite unlikely, instead is possible she was more an abused victim, and just tried to protect herself and her family. Since we don't have a primary source about her or her relationship with the "conquistadores" we will never know for sure exactly what happened.

i like to muddle the orange with the bitters infused sugar cube, then add the burbon and ice, no water

That sounds good; there are many variations on the basic recipe, and believe me, I've enjoyed exploring them!

Great Video! I see your video is listed under CC A licence (reuse). Would it be possible to use your video for our tv magazine programme (uni project) for educational purposes (we'd credit the video too)?

What you think about connection between cock-tail (ginger), and the colour of roosters tail (which can be very colourfull) with the colour of 1st whiskey cocktail or a more colourfull variant when drinks mix in the glass resembling the various feathers? Also punch could be just that drink seems light but it punches you? These are just from the top of the head. I love your channel and your video ideas. Great work

Yeah, it can be fun to think of those kinds of possible origins -- but often the connections are harder to track down... for instance, the earliest cocktails really weren't very colourful, that's a fairly recent thing. But basically, it's anybody's guess with 'cocktail', the origins are so obscure! Anyway, thanks, glad you enjoy the videos!

How genial and delightful -- including the sly and witty winks.... And who's the mysterious beauty who appears at the end, and what's she doing in your bar?

Your videos are great! I noticed this one doesn't have captions which is a shame.

You're right, it seems several of our earliest videos don't have captions--I thought they did, but maybe we didn't realise it at the time? Anyway, thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'm fixing that now!
