I had a 1975 Dodge van that had the 318 in it and it was absolutely bullet-proof....never had a bit of trouble with it. Also, I replaced the cracked skylight in my truck camper with a piece of thick plexiglass, then re-did the gasket with plain old household weatherstripping...been over a year now and no leaks. Good luck and thanks for this.
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the video, your Dodge Titans are cool. Thank you for the information. I'm in the process of picking up a 76 Titan right now.😁
I've been searching and searching for fellow Titan owners: Hello! Mine is a '76 with the 440. Read your blog and can relate to many of your issues. Unlike your sweet find- I was duped. Nor do I know anything about anything. I had planned on painted and recovering cushions -tops! My side mirrors were taped at the bend in mounting brackets, with electrical tape with SEVERE rust- My drivers side just fell off with tarp in the wind last week. My headlights and other exterior lighting will not cooperate and I had to choose between one set or other. Nor does my alternator charge my deep cycle. ....its been an ordeal. But it has its potential! I'll be sure to go over your progress when its not so late. Thanks for posting the advert too- 1st I've seen. :)
Hey it's awesome seeing another Titan owner! There's really not too many of these things left, and I too have spent a lot of time looking for others online. I actually had the exact same problem with my mirror but not nearly as bad as yours sounds. I've just started rebuilding my other Titan too. That one is definitely way worse! It's got some of the worst water damage I've ever seen. I hope to get it back on the road some day though. That one also has the 440, but it's not running quite right, so I gotta figure that out. I've got a video trying to start it. The exhaust on it sounds awesome! Eventually I'll be posting a video about the whole process though. I've had to tear parts of it down to the frame, and it's cool seeing how these were constructed. I'll try and include as much information on that video as I can, but I don't know when it'll come out. Sorry, I realized this was a big reply. But anyways good luck with your project. I've learned a lot about old Titans and Champions and might be able to answer some questions.
I also had pretty bad alternator issues when I first got this thing, but I changed it out with a like new remanufactured alternator and I haven't any issues with it so far. Seems to charge just fine now. And as far as the lights go those have been a total bitch for me! There's three different sockets I can plug the headlights into, but only two of them sort of work, I just recently got the fog lights working, which is awesome because now I can actually see at night, but those clearance lights are a whole issue on their own. I've never gotten more than four to turn on at the same time. I've seen every single one turn on, but never all at the same time, and this is after cleaning all the electrical contacts and replacing some wires, so I have no clue what's up with those yet.
As far as anything that works on 12 volts, corrosion is your biggest enemy. Low voltage DC is very picky-you must clean every connection or else the voltage drops to 11 pretty fast-then things tend to not work-especially headlights! Another suggestion-change every bulb to LED - they are brighter and consume less electricity
love it. I had a 79 champion 25' motor home with a 440 and was going up a hill in Tennessee and the four barrel opened up and scared the snot out of me because it sounded like a black hole opening up lol.
The 318 Dodge motor was a damm tuff engine . It's well worth getting it rebuilt. Half a quart of oil a month is really good for a engine that old , I think you have a great start on a nice classic motorhome.
Thanks! That's nice to hear after so many people telling me to do a diesel swap. At some point this year I'll do a top end rebuild on it. But shit, even with the burnt valves it'll still pull me up a hill no problem.
Never seen one of these before very nice , I like the look of them. Looking forward to seeing more. I had a fiat 900t camper from the 70s for years had to sell ten years ago as it wasn't practical to use after health issues with close family member. I miss that little camper. Your very lucky to get these I wish you all the luck with your project.
I like the look of them as well. As far as I know it was only a one or two year body style which is why they're so rare. I never knew Fiat made a camper too. That sounds pretty cool!
When l 1st saw it l thot "what a beast!" - and l started my school bus driving before power steering/automatic shifters. It's so square! I adored seeing the old dashboard I'm so familiar with. l suggest you don't ignore the sagging ceiling issues. You could use the effort to replace the (most likely) poor/suspicious insulation. loved the map table, functional & fun, my fav combo. i suggest you go thru the wiring, it sounds like a growing issue. Thanks! I'm going through the engine soon and I'll probably rebuild the cylinder heads next year. I've gone through almost everything electrical by now and gotten everything working too.

Yeah an 8 track would have been more likely. That's what my other Titan has. Either way the player that's in this one matches everything, and I got it to mostly work again.
Hi, I have a 1976 Dodge Titan that we don't have key for and trying to flat tow it, but the back tires are locked. Where is the parking brake and if you have any suggestions to let the back tires loose? Thanks in advance!
There should be a great big black lever to the left of the driver's seat for your parking brake. If you release that lever and the wheels still won't move then the brakes are likely stuck and you can try rocking it back and forth to release them. If that doesn't work then you'll have to take off the rear wheels and try to get the brake drums off. Also I would highly recommend removing the driveshaft if you plan on towing it very far so as to not cause any damage to your transmission.
It's surprising tough. I had my doubts with it at first, but even with burnt valves I've pushed it up some steep ass hills no problem. The whole motorhome only weighs about 11,000lbs.
The 'Industrial' 318 (AKA Poly 318) is totally different from 270/318/340/360 style. The old ones have tons of torque and not a lot of RPM and HP, but they get the job done.

I am God, here as an avatar of myself, in order to save these worlds, omniverses, etc., but I cannot do so without the proper facilities, vehicles, equipment, etc.. Well I'm glad it was inspirational to you, but I don't just get free vehicles whenever I want. It was sort of just coincidence and luck that I even managed to get these. The property that they were on a few houses down had been basically abandoned for a few years, and I had to contact the owner the old fashioned way by just leaving a note with my phone number on the windshield, and hoping they'd come back. After I left the note, it was STILL a couple years before anyone actually responded. And keep in mind the motorhome in this video had been sitting since 2008, and the other one was sitting since before I was even born, so naturally it took a lot of work to actually get them to my property. And despite getting them for free, between tires, engine parts, and other things to make it road legal and camping ready, I've already put over $1000 into just the one! And it still needs a lot more! So even if you get the vehicle for free, it's gonna have its issues, and it still won't be cheap in the end. All I can recommend is if you see any abandoned vehicles that you want, or maybe a vehicle that's been on somebody's property for years, do your absolute best to contact the owner and see if you can make a deal. Luckily for me it was the grandson of the old owner that eventually contacted me, and he's been cleaning up the property so that they can rebuild on it. So right when he called me he told me both motorhomes were free and they were mine if I could figure out how to get them out of there, and he even helped me get them running.
Yeah, I know enough to keep shit running and maintained. This summer I plan on either rebuilding or replacing the cylinder heads, and maybe getting a tiny bit more horsepower.
@@rayneal1469 I might consider that if I was gonna live in it full time, but I don't listen to any music when I'm camping. I'd rather use the space for something else.
As far as the inside goes I think I'll just replace the ceiling panels. The rest of it is actually a lot nicer than it appears on camera. I do have plans for the engine pretty soon though!
DODGE motorhomes should come with extra transmissions 1 for every 10,000 miles. never seen a dogde motor home that was not extreme shit. ITS dodgy means its shit
I think the transmission only pooped out due to neglect from the last owners. Other than that this thing has actually been my most reliable vehicle. Every other Dodge motorhome owner I've met has never had transmission issues.

@@rayneal1469 I might consider that if I was gonna live in it full time, but I don't listen to any music when I'm camping. I'd rather use the space for something else.
@@motorhomeman1949 OK
Could be very nice if you renew the inside and fix the engine
As far as the inside goes I think I'll just replace the ceiling panels. The rest of it is actually a lot nicer than it appears on camera. I do have plans for the engine pretty soon though!
I would love have ur rv if could be I am on fix in come I just get SSI and SSDI that not much money get a new that I get one
Nope
Always people looking to screw you over one way or another.

Murder home? Ha .
The 727 torqueflite is tough are you a boomer??
Dodge has been good to me
It has without comparison the ugliest baby poop yellow carpet ever. Gross.
The camera doesn't pick it up very well, but it's actually dark green.
@@motorhomeman1949I am sorry, I didn't mean to diss your super duper find. You did get a Great deal. It is in better shape than my rig that I paid a lot more for so..
I was just instantly reminded of the dreadful greens yellows and rusts they used back then when I saw that carpet.
@@shannonpendergrass7206 Hey no worries! That's totally understandable.
Your gross

Ugh,...RVers take some of the WORST videos.
Well jeez I'm SO sorry for making a crappy video. I didn't even expect this to get half as many views as it did. Not sure if I would really call myself an RVer either. I haven't even taken this thing on it's first trip yet.
@@motorhomeman1949 You're just too close to a lot of things. Stand back and let me see! Also, you take video of stuff that I have no interest in seeing, like the exhaust coming out. F.W.I.W.
@@mwidunn Too bad dude. I didn't make the video specifically for you did I? A lot people including myself like seeing things like the exhaust. Also what in the world is F.W.I.W?
@@mwidunn Also I even left time stamps in the description for people to easily skip parts if they want.
I am living in a tent ony land. Do you still have this. I will come get it. Iam desperate. To get out of the woods and heat. Please contact me asap if you do. Thank you christell
What? No! I'm never selling it.
He wants you to give it to him. I’ve had people ask me to give them mine. Some asshole stole my 64 dodge truck
