Had that one while I was in the portuguese army the G3 was the rifle used by us in the Infantry, and if I'm not mistaken the Comandos used the G3 also but with the adjustable stock... Man the memories just by seeing this. AD UNUM.
I love to hear stories like this. Yes, the G3 was a widely used rifle by a couple of countries throughout the world. Many different versions of this Bayonet we also manufactured.
@@zeemanknives in certain drills we stil used hitler's buzz saw can't recall the name of it, it was used by the germans in the second world war... Old, heavy has heck and 2 guys to man it 1 carried ammo and tripod the other the rifle and ammo... Boot Camp... The best times ever man
I actually have no idea. I have seen military knives go for ridiculous prices at markets, but I am no expert on monetary values. This one was bought at a cheap price because of the shape it was in...
Another G3 Bayonet wrecked. A bayonet is a blunt weapon, not to slice but to thrust. So sharpening is a gross error. It needs to be black as the light reflects from it, giving the enemy your position. So all in all someone who got no idea about this piece.
I disagree with you...i cant see how sharpening would be a gross error...bayonettes were used to thrust and to slice into the opponent...and it was used as a field knife. Besides...if you plan to attack someone with a bayonette, the blade "reflecting" light...will be the least of your problems. Many bayonettes were never painted. Also keep in kind, this was restored for a private collector...so this is not a "service weapon" anymore...strangely enough all his original bayonettes in his collection all have edges and none are black...
I you think about it...if bayonettes were supposed to be blunt weapons without edges, why bother grinding in bevels...instead of just issuing soldiers with a metal rod with a sharp point (which was the case with certain countries)? This bayonette was rusted beyond recognition and I did apply gunblue to darken it, so im not sure why you would call this project wrecked? What would you have done differently?
@@zeemanknives I would have browned to a black finish, the same colour as a G3 barrel. We weren’t allow to sharpen it at the Bundeswehr for the reasons mentioned before. I own a G3 and a MKE T41, no bayonet yet
Great work, the gun blue looks amazing
Thank you...It worked really well on this blade.
I served in the Iranian army for two years and I had this dagger on my G3 rifle, I remember it well
Thanks for sharing great restoration
Thank you for watching! You are welcome.
Just received a banged up old G3 bayonet in the mail. Getting excited watching this restoration.
Awesome...hope you find the video useful. Which version of the bayonet do you have?
Poetry in motion, Thank you!

What a very nice and professional restoration man ! Do you also have the sheat for the bajonet (on another video ? 🙂)
I made a leather sheath for it, but unfortunately did not film it. I plan to do a leather sheath video for a different knife at some stage.
Nice, we only spoke about a bayonet a while ago

Great job. Thanks for sharing. Are you Afrikaans by any chance? Just curious....
Thank you for watching...yes i am. Did my accent give me away? :)
@@zeemanknives No, not at all. It was the way you pronounced the "r" that gave you away. There's nothing wrong with your English.
@@wjvanderwesthuizen All good, yes i am Afrikaans and based in Johannesburg.
Super cool chanel, congratulations! Please show in a video how to file a curved blade with a file (jig). For example, a hunting knife.
Thank you for watching. Noted, I will see what I can do.
@@zeemanknives Thank you, I will wait.
When you file with a file, the file does not touch the tip of the blade, how will it turn out then?
Hey, Where can I buy an Iranian G3 bayonet? Thanks
I suppose online/auction platforms would be your best bet.
Nice
Happy you like it! Thank you for watching.
How much can a G3 Bayonett be worth?

IRANIAN G3 BAYONET
Indeed it is.
枪刺,全抛光的做法是不对的,应该刀身是经过防锈及发黑处理,这样作为战场武器更有隐蔽性。
Gun blue??? Did you not watch the whole thing???
Yes...the gunblue gave it a really nice dark finish.
