Even though I’ve seen this SO many times, I hadn’t really thought about the reflection when AleXa was running back and forth. That’s even more impressive knowing that she filmed on green screen, so the reflection had to have been added by Layne in editing. He IS amazing!
I had not noticed the reflections. I’ve watched it several times and even during watching this time I forgot to look. I think because I knew it was green screen I didn’t expect to see a reflection. But now that I have, I am astounded at the genius of probably Eli and possibly Layne .

Compared to other things he’s done (see Villains from Pattycake Productions) a reflection would have been relatively easy for Layne. I just hadn’t thought about it before.

Pretty sure that "snorting" thing is Layne breathing backwards, he is able to use the backwards force to create that, I have to admit I was originally very disappointed Eli wasn't used more during this but I have listened to it more its only getting better. I think you should just re-watch it in your own time and focus on what Geoff is doing in the background, that's almost just as good as the actual song.
Totally agreed. 🙂 But there are so many OTHER things going on, and it's BACKGROUND stuff, not "solo", so I believe the conscious attention is just kinda "overwhelmed" and loses track of that incredible background work. 🙂
I watch beatbox vids and some of the beatboxers use that type of bass that if I'm not mistaken it's called a Snore bass, but theirs also the Inward bass that some times sounds similar to the Snore bass.
@@h3atwave202 Beatboxer here, you are mostly correct, it is actually either throat bass or snore bass. Both are very similar in sound but with the production that they do it is hard to tell exactly. The inward base is more resonant and "wavy" then the snore and throat basses and makes a distinctly different sound.
Yes! I had flashbacks to Geoff dancing and grilling, too. Also funny that they pared it down so much for the final cut. Like, "my body doesn't move that way." I'm totally okay with them not being able to dance like a 25-year old K-Pop star.😅

Dramatic irony: when the audience knows something that a character does not know. Example: 19:09, "YES!!! That's the Eli high note I was waiting for!" I just giggled and giggled, because oh dude, JUST WAIT. My favorite moment in any given VP song is almost always a Geoff bass moment, but that high F#5 at 19:39 just keeps making my jaw drop every time I hear it. Also, my favorite breakfast food is peach crepes. I rarely have them because good fresh peaches are so hard to find and SO EXPENSIVE, but on the rare occasion I treat myself, it tastes like sunshine and summer and happiness.

That sound you couldn't figure out was Layne doing an inhale note which he's done many times before but this is a new way he's down it . There's 3 ways. singing just making the noise and talking . He's talked it in the ACA top 10 videogames . And he's made the noise where he normally slides down going down in a yuhyuhyuhyuhyhh type sound. This was the first time he's used it in more of a singing style

I've seen another reactor ask Layne "What was *that* ?" in this video. And it hit me: If Adam Rupp of Home Free is the "Freak of Nature," than Layne Stein is the Mad Scientist. Adam can hear a sound and reproduce it with astonishing accuracy (Kick drum? no problem. Castanets? Pitched toms? _Harmonica_ ? Easy-Peasy). Layne Stein, on the other hand can keep a beat with accuracy and precision *while creating sounds our brains can't even classify* . Kevin Olusula, meanwhile, is definitely the Artiste.

I know that Alexa reached out to them to do this collaboration. I haven't heard though whether the she suggested the song of if that was chosen after they decided to collaborate. She is such a perfect Jinx and I love the way her voice is used throughout the song.

When you talked about expecting Geoff to go really low on the last syllable of “enemy,” he did go really low on that syllable just before that and earlier at about 9:00 in your video.
Geoff's surprise climb to the rafters gets everybody's attention (deservedly) but I've never heard anyone (over 20 reactions so far and counting) comment on the gorgeous soprano descant floating above all that right in that section - it's just mind-blowingly beautiful. One of the reasons I've now watched your reactions over a half-dozen times is because of how often you pause and back up to something amazing. Plus you NOTICE stuff! And then show it to the rest of us. At least 10 of the reactions I've watched so far have just sat there and oohed and aahed but only paused once or twice (usually at Layne, of course) and now I fully understand why Geoff said they put too much effort in to have someone just sit and watch it dumbly. I've been subscribed since I watched you and your wife react to "Dragonborn Comes." I’m 99% sure Geoff transitions to Eli on that B4. You can hear Geoff go up in the right ear, then Eli comes in on the left ear with the same note, and then Geoff picks up the bass line in the right ear.

This definitely needs several viewings and several listenings. I didn’t really care for it in the beginning. It triggered my anxiety with all that pacing. I like playing with sounds when I'm doing stuff at work. I guess it entertains the ADHD and soothes the anxiety. Sometimes Layne makes sounds and I react with "I've done that before, but on accident and I have no idea how to reproduce it and give it rhythm" XD I love Layne, his particular style is my favorite of any vocal percussion.

I’m with you on the first reaction. I have to admit I did not like it. And I did not like her. That pacing back-and-forth stuff really triggered my anxiety. But then I went and looked for the original as I often do and they interspersed it with clips from the show. And all that pacing made more sense. In the meantime I found myself humming parts of that song so apparently I liked it after all . But I almost enjoy it more without the video. I think it is just the anxiety trigger. And that is my problem. It’s beautifully done it’s incredibly artistic and they are actually geniuses and putting the stuff together.
I really think they need to stop assigning tenor, bari or bass. NONE of them sing in their own lane anymore.

When you talked about expecting Geoff to go really low on the last syllable of “enemy,” he did go really low on that syllable just before that and earlier at about 9:00 in your video.
Geoff's surprise climb to the rafters gets everybody's attention (deservedly) but I've never heard anyone (over 20 reactions so far and counting) comment on the gorgeous soprano descant floating above all that right in that section - it's just mind-blowingly beautiful.
One of the reasons I've now watched your reactions over a half-dozen times is because of how often you pause and back up to something amazing. Plus you NOTICE stuff! And then show it to the rest of us. At least 10 of the reactions I've watched so far have just sat there and oohed and aahed but only paused once or twice (usually at Layne, of course) and now I fully understand why Geoff said they put too much effort in to have someone just sit and watch it dumbly.
I've been subscribed since I watched you and your wife react to "Dragonborn Comes." (3 weeks later [06/16] I watched this again and noticed I made a mistake here - it was "Hoist the Colors" not "Dragonborn" that your wife joined you. I don't THINK I have OCD but I felt compelled to correct my error...) And when Cesar came and linked in for your review of "Dream On" life was perfect! I have to admit, I simply can't imagine VoicePlay without him now. I still love all the previous videos but oh, man, does he ever fit in beautifully with them. So does Omar. But so does Rachel, and Diane, and José. So they aren't allowed to FILL position five because that would mean the others couldn't play anymore, and that would be tragic.
I’m 99% sure Geoff transitions to Eli on that B4. You can hear Geoff go up in the right ear, then Eli comes in on the left ear with the same note, and then Geoff picks up the bass line in the right ear.
Favorite breakfast: Homemade breakfast bowl with eggs, sausage, home-fried potato, celery, onion, & green bell peppers, pan fried in real butter. Yummy!

This definitely needs several viewings and several listenings. I didn’t really care for it in the beginning. It triggered my anxiety with all that pacing. But I found myself humming it at various times during the day so apparently I really like the music.

I think the reverse phonation notes are from Layne because Geoff has said he can't do them and sound good, but Layne can.

I like playing with sounds when I'm doing stuff at work. I guess it entertains the ADHD and soothes the anxiety. Sometimes Layne makes sounds and I react with "I've done that before, but on accident and I have no idea how to reproduce it and give it rhythm" XD I love Layne, his particular style is my favorite of any vocal percussion.

I can't. I can't even. Mortius, it just hit me. You look exactly like my maths and physics teacher I had in school. You are spookily similar in looks and voice. Right down to the hair style, but not to the choice of clothing and colours, he only wears black turtlenecks.

I’m with you on the first reaction. I have to admit I did not like it. And I did not like her. That pacing back-and-forth stuff really triggered my anxiety. But then I went and looked for the original as I often do and they interspersed it with clips from the show. And all that pacing made more sense. In the meantime I found myself humming parts of that song so apparently I liked it after all . But I almost enjoy it more without the video. I think it is just the anxiety trigger. And that is my problem. It’s beautifully done it’s incredibly artistic and they are actually geniuses and putting the stuff together.
