Even today as a doddering 56-year-old man I clench in anger and revulsion at the memory of that god forsaken helicopter drone bullshitty mission. I filled so many ashtrays completing that goddamn mission!
This mission gave me so much anger as a kid. And it was made worse by my crappy laptop not having a numpad. So I couldnt move directly forward or backwards. I did the entire thing sideways. Replaying it recently in the definitive edition with a controller was night and day
I remember having so much fun with the tanks in GTA 3, VC and SA because you could turn the turret around and everytime you fired the cannon, you'd go faster. Just pick a direction and go. When you got bored of that, just cheat away the wanted level and go about your business
I genuinely had so spit my coffee out when Claire told the reason she isn't allowed to copilot anymore. Thankfully didn't hit any of my work equipment.
John: Back in these days so much of the game engine was tied to frame rate, its ridiculous. GTA 5 (where the speed of your car is affected by framerate): Uuuuh.... yes. Back in those days.
Back in 2000s I played this the same time my bestie was playing San Andreas; she never understood the draw of streetbikes until she experienced just how narrow the streets of Vice City were for herself, in comparison to Los Santos streets wider than football field is long.
how to easily beat "demolition man" (or any other flight mission in any GTA game) on your first try in 3 easy steps: 1- grab your keyboard & mouse 2- throw them out of the window 3- play with a controller
Literally the one game he doesn't use a cotroller on? Every other time he's screamed at for not using keyboard and mouse for anything resembling an FPS and this one game he decides to skip the cotroller.
Skill issue. Demolition Man is not difficult. Helicopters in general are not difficult. Planes less so, but they're not that bad. Demolition Man specifically allows you to get used to the controls before you pick up the first bomb.
Apparently there aren't as many old school nerds here as I thought... No RC hobbyists? Jon, I'm sorry to inform you that flying an RC helicopter in GTA VC is SOOO much easier than in real life. It takes most people WEEKS of training and practice to be able to just take off, hover, and land an RC helicopter IRL. It takes a good hour or two to get the hang of manually flying a modern quadcopter with all the modern stabilization tech. Helicopters in the '80s and '90s were an intense investment in time and gear.
So many people giving incorrect information during 'Demolition Man' I'm wondering how many have actually played Vice City, or if they have, how long ago? As bad as that mission was/is the game does actually give you all the information you need: It tells you that the timer will start when you pick up the first bomb It shows you the workers & the security guards are there from the start The mission is difficult to do, not to understand.
Jon can comfortably understand any 4X strategy you put in font of him in minutes. Ask him to put in a Flying Cars cheat for Vice City and everything goes to pieces. Good times.
28:35 the helicopter was definitely easier to control on the PlayStation. Something’s a controller is just better like lock picking in Skyrim. I don’t know how you do that with a mouse and keyboard.
You just, yah know, do it? I've always played Skyrim on Mouse&Keyboard, and I never thought that the lockpicking was difficult. Is there a reason why you think it should be?
@@canaan5337 Ah, I suppose that would be (even) easier. On m+k, you just kinda tap the key to turn the pick on random spots. The closer you are to the right spot, the further it turns. More difficult locks tend to break a couple of picks, but the game keeps throwing them at you anyway.

Give Jon and Crew enough time to play a bit of GTA SA first. Cheers!
Did you have to edit out the cut scenes because TH-cam? This was such a great game, but at least half the fun was the cut scenes, the radio stations, and ability to play your own music while mindlessly wreaking havoc. I really feel sorry for the future you have to live through ETA: BTW, this game also lets you increase your abilities by using them, eg. the more you sprint the longer you can sprint, the game just doesn't tell you that it's happening. If you aim while shooting, the guns are much more accurate. BTW 2: Every voice in the game is a major star. Lance Vance is (something) Phillip Thomas (Tubbs in Miami Vice), Michael Madsen, Luis Guzman, Danny Trejo, Burt Reynolds, Pan Anderson, Dennis Hopper, look 'em up.
Did you play with a controller? I remember running it a couple times to learn an effective path, but not struggling with controls. I played on Playstation, with a controller obviously.
That phone guy mision would have been soo much easier if he picked up the Bike parked right outside the area where he went to pick up the guns. If my memory serves me right, you can shoot straight forward on Bikes. Edit: Okay so he did pick it up in his second try.
I honestly have always found GTA, and Vice City especially, helicopters to be way easier to fly compared to airplanes. Never understood why people were having so much trouble with DemoMan mission. Sure in 3&VC Dodo & Co. ain't the best planes to begin with but even compared to San Andreas, helicopters have superior controls/flight model.
Man, I haven’t played any GTA except this game and I haven’t played it in 20 years. Jon, you just sold a copy of the game. Bought one off Amazon and I cannot wait to play it once again. Thanks for the fun streams to remind me how wacky and fun old games can still be.
