I’ve been watching on the sidelines for about 2 months as I’ve been playing Civ 6, I’ve loved your in depth analysis and explanation per movement. I’m very analytical so these long videos give me a lot of insight on how to play like a pro… but what earned the sub was what happened at 49:50…. “I gave your mom a commercial chub” 😂😂😂 thank you for the comedic relief and glad to be a spuddy now!
Hi from Brazil, I'm learning English. I always liked ancient and medieval history in school, medieval JRPG and so on, my First contact with a strategy game was with Age of Empires 2 and with Civ V some time latter.
Got this in 182 turns, though I did intentionally delay my win at least 10 turns. The first major delay was when I did my Darwin activation for like 20 turns late and got a half value science bomb from him because I noticed I could finally get the 'Origin of Species' Achievement (Activate Darwin at the Galapagos Islands). The second, even larger delay, was so I could kill Egypt to get the 'Man on the Moon' Achievement. I know only one city would have been enough, but Cleopatra pissed me off with a turn 1 denouncement at the start of the game, and she then refused to get friendly with me for the entire game. So I intentionally didn't build any speed boost stations after the first one to instead build an army to take all of her cities.
I'm surprised you didn't start planning a rush towards Great Library. The extra Great Scientist points and tech boosts whenever other players get a Scientist would've really made blowing through the science tree easier for you. Also, really loving the editing!
Anyone interested in the math of "cancelling out a deduction" that Potato mentions at 2:00:00: - if you reduce your science by 50% that's cutting it in half. aka multiplying it by 1/2. - if you increase your science by 50% that's only a multiplication of 1.5 which actually isn't the opposite of the reduction in 50%. An increase of 100% (or multiplying it by 2) would be the exact opposite in terms of pure amount. - SO because Babylon already is sitting at a 50% decrease (1/2 of normal science), any counteractions to that decrease are worth more. So a 20% increase is more like a 40% increase because 20% added onto 50% is 70% (2/5ths more science) rather than the 120% you'd have normally (1/5th more science).
For those of you peeking into the replies to OP's comment: This is why the penalties from negative amenities are so much worse than the benefits of positive amenities, even though they are both 10% and 20% changes. Keep your cities content, folks!
Congradulations on designing current monthly challenge in Civ 6! It is really great to see that devs show their appreciation for for huge 'core' fans by involving them into actual development of the game that they love so much. And you're w/o doubts the one that deserve this.
My dad got me one of those Icon knives over a year ago and it's been my EDC since I got it. That D2 steel holds an edge like nothing else I've got and when it broke no questions asked HF replaced it under warranty. I'll never go without that knife on me
Hey @potatoMcWhiskey - love your videos! So much things to learn from your commentary on your thinking. I have a very simple question that I tried to find the answer for a long time .. where can you see the fortification status of a unit? I looked everywhere and can't find it. Must be in a very obvious place ;)
I just found Potatomcwhiskey and was sad that no new civ content was being made. Im already steamrolling King on my 2nd full game because of these videos. Road to Diety.
2:00:00 The "working against the modifier" is easy to explain: It's twice as good. You go from 50 to 70 so you get 40% more than what you usually get, instead of going from 100 to 120, which is just 20% more. ... But you still get 120 instead of just 70. It's only twice as good, because you start with only half as much to begin with. But since the bonuses are still the same, you can never actually fully catch up. So 50+500 = 550 is 1000% more, while 100+500 = 600 is 500% more, but you're still behind by 50 as Babylon.
Full ivy: 8*5= 40% debuff resist. Ivy with pig: 7*5.75= 40.25% debugg resist. Essentially the same. Personally i think it could be better to try and point ot at both thornblooms, but still good either way
Is there any way to get a modlist that you run for your civ 6 games? ive started watching your content and some of the ui mods looked really nice to pick up
I was playing a nice game with Wilhelmina, started with a whole continent to myself. Playing with heroes, got an early Sinbad, thought it was in the bag- then I met Hammurabi, with 1K score and 100+ science by turn 100. I know I'm bad but none of the other immortal AI were even close e
I wound up with Mansa Musa to my north, Patchaculti to my northeast, and Lady Six-Sky to my east on my seed for this challenge, and they were out for my blood I swear. Three front wars are no fun ;w; I was able to take out Mali and Maya and took what I wanted from Inca but it was such a pain.
Has anyone managed to get the Challenge of the Month to appear, particular if you bought the game on Epic? They never show up on the main menu, and I've tried disabling community mods.
I would like to see him do an achievement hunting stream on the few achievements he got left for Civ 6 or show how to do some of the harder or low % on steam
When playing on faster speeds newly met civs almost always refuse your delegation. This low key adds a bit of difficulty as I often find myself with AIs being hostile towards me.
Potato, in general and with Babylon specifically, it's better to just not research. If you shift-enter, your turn ends but you store up your science and culture if you aren't actively researching. Then, when you have enough to research the tech/civic you want in one turn, you just select it. That way, you don't waste science on a tech that you boost later
Wait a minute- he got plastic before *Chemistry*. Implying in this timeline, the Babylonians were just screwing around and invented plastics with no understanding of Chemistry or the mechanisms with which their plastics were made
I love how quick games are like “your warriors cross the river to the village mine. This took 40 years.”
homie drops a 3 hour video the day before my exam, no good
Good luck with that exam bro
You got this! Good luck with your exam!
what a perfect reward after you did your exam :D
school is gay
I mean who doesnt study watching potato or any other type of content i know i do
Is potato back with Civ 6 content?! Sweet lord baby jesus on tricycle! Hallelujah!
I know I waited like 4 days for a Civ video made work suck 😂
Yayy ❤
This is what the people want
@@nickfromtipp LOL, Google thought it would be interesting to say it could translate "yayy" to "yay"...
Hallelujah!
1:11:22 "Horses are something we can sell to the other AI's" - Potato McAI
Dude accepted his role as the true AI!!

thats insanely fast, i focused on getting planes as soon as possible to bully the ai. biplanes in the renaissance era went hard
Bombers... no fighters
i have never been so disappointed to find out that the start for the challenge is randomized, this seed looks fantastic

49:50 "your mom gave me a Comercial chub" 😂😂 wasn't expecting that
Came to the comment section just to see if someone mentioned this 🤣

Editor is the MVP

“Accumulating a small series of advantages over a long period of time is the entire game.” True for more than just video games lol.
You can always tell that Potato is getting near the end of the game when he starts singing
I always love when Potato stops giving a fuck in the later parts of the videos and just starts singing.
Very fun!
It is funny, after playing Millennia, Potato keeps saying "capital city" when talking about settling new cities.
I took a break from watching Civ 6 videos so the timing was perfect.
56:16 I have noticed that too. CIV repositions your screen after clicking a unit sometimes; making you misclick

That was a *powerful* “hey spuddies”
Homie editor even dropped a stable for us.
My dad got me one of those Icon knives over a year ago and it's been my EDC since I got it. That D2 steel holds an edge like nothing else I've got and when it broke no questions asked HF replaced it under warranty. I'll never go without that knife on me
Welcome back I was getting board watching reruns of your content
I think you meant "bored" LOL.
Or were you really getting boarded on a plane? Or turning into a plank of wood?
29:41 props to the editors!
Awesome love watching you play full games you just spit so much wisdom helps me improve!
GAS GAS GAS!- Potato Mcwhiskey, probably
Hey @potatoMcWhiskey - love your videos! So much things to learn from your commentary on your thinking.

I SAID A CIV 6 *series* … but this will do for now ❤❤❤❤
I just found Potatomcwhiskey and was sad that no new civ content was being made. Im already steamrolling King on my 2nd full game because of these videos. Road to Diety.
love the middle parts of potatos videos
POTATOMCWHISKEY CIV 6 CONTENT BACK LESGOOOOOO
Tried this the other day in a game and only was able to get a 179
Mad props Tato!
Thank you PotatoMcWhisky for coming back to Civilization 6 i have been waiting for you for a while now.
Welcome back PMW! I hope you enjoyed your break from CIV 6 and were able to expand your horizons, follow your curiosity, and try new things!
it's so nice you're back with civ 6 content at the same time I reinstalled the game

Potato on my favourite civ?? Sign me up!!
You seem a lot happier playing this than Colonization :D
Because you said *Toyko Drifting* I assumed you meant Japan did a surprise victory and I was so confused the whole time.
Full ivy: 8*5= 40% debuff resist.

Hey! Really enjoying your game of the month. It’s a blast
In the late great words of Tycus Findlay "Hell, Its about time." Were back onto civ baby
How i can ativate that top right icons about our civ and the AI, to compare gold/faith/science/etc. ?
cant wait for the stellaris upload
Lesgo civ is back. also I really want to see a Lord High Emu video I think that'd be epic ✨
watching this 3 hour video was 100% worth it just for the Stargate reference at the end
big question! does your harbor get adjacency bonus from oil if it's on top of it?
I just found out that you are responsible for this month's challenge!
This video is reasonable :) thanks for the amazing civ6 content!
This event was the first time I got a science victory. Got some insane yields with Petra and Ruhr Valley in the same city for my space center city.
26:13 the barb attack split didnt work as the combat strength went down due to damage after the first attack
Do you have all achievements? Otherwise i think it could be quite interesting to try and get them all throughout some series
Haven't seen this civ played much before, it was an interesting run. I'd be happy to see some Stellaris on the channel as well!
I was playing a nice game with Wilhelmina, started with a whole continent to myself. Playing with heroes, got an early Sinbad, thought it was in the bag- then I met Hammurabi, with 1K score and 100+ science by turn 100. I know I'm bad but none of the other immortal AI were even close

Where can I find a list of the mods PotatoMcWhiskey is using??
1:47:33 "I'm reviewing your moooms application, to my bed" hahahhahah
Are the challenges from the latest dlc or just having a 2k account?
I would've loved more eu4 content but great content as always !
this channel play CIV6 too good!
Can someone tell me which mods potato uses or where I can find them ?
Great knowledge here on the city state buff on all units!
yooo, the most important graph! cool stuff man
This is the current empire that I started and now I have almost full tech tree with the next AI at just entering industrial
I was crushed when I won this challenge on turn 201. I too felt like I was blazing a trail through the stars
Has anyone managed to get the Challenge of the Month to appear, particular if you bought the game on Epic? They never show up on the main menu, and I've tried disabling community mods.
Another Civ playthrough another religion forgotten by Potato
Don't worry Potato, I beat the monthly challenge they said was designed by you. Twice.
When is the Potato McWhiskey album dropping? There were some hella mad tunes peppered amongst that whirlwind game
About time!!! We missed this
Are you ever going to revisit Terra Invicta? They just had a MASSIVE update
Potato doing Civ 6? Finally some good fucking food.
+2 for the editor paying attention with Ngazargamu.
Potato is back! W
1:50:41 Anyone else find it funny with the Mausoleum built video the harbour was on fire.
Let's keep swimming (2:38:05)
... Keep swimming
... Keep swimming
... Keep swimming
... Keep swimming
Why are your lined up civics like that to research lol?
Or is that specific to to this civ or is it a mod?
@@Shifty51991 you can queue technologies or civics by right clicking on them I believe. It is not a mod or specific to Babylon.
Did I miss it or did you not get the 2nd apostle?
How the hell does the victory ranking work? How is this only the 11th spot with a score of 1248/2500? @2:55:09
Ahhh man! I needed this.
What about the stable, Potato? Love the editor.
Bro just killing every palgum tile lol
Potato, in general and with Babylon specifically, it's better to just not research. If you shift-enter, your turn ends but you store up your science and culture if you aren't actively researching. Then, when you have enough to research the tech/civic you want in one turn, you just select it. That way, you don't waste science on a tech that you boost later
I do not find that to be fun
There are a few starting techs that cannot be boosted, though. Are you saying to shift-enter after completing those three techs?
Is there a reason to put farms into a triangle like that?
With feudalism farms gain +1 food for adjacent farms. Some easy Maths shows you that triangles are the most efficient the
Farms gain adjacency bonus from other farms after feudalism. Triangles are simply the most effective
Ahh okay I never knew that. That’s cool, thank you
I loved the video title!
3 hours...screw it who needs sleep, I can sleep when I am dead
Very interesting that you say Aluminum. I guess the game calls it that.
I can only assume it’s do to the tech tree scramble, but it’s crazy to me you got plastic before printing
Wait a minute- he got plastic before *Chemistry*. Implying in this timeline, the Babylonians were just screwing around and invented plastics with no understanding of Chemistry or the mechanisms with which their plastics were made
I honestly thought your editor had body slammed you @29:52 before realising they were merely addressing you in the correct context!
Love the Dory map pack
"move a tile to the right"
yes, the _right_
I need to know more about Sid’s underground Stargate program!!
At long last, the Mega-city industrial complex has returned!
The Great Library is actually A tier for Babylon
For the record, I've been enjoying the other games on the channel
