    Electrical engineer or technician is the best job in the world. You need both Brains+balls for it. Salute to Tesla and these engineers/technicians for powering our lives 👍🏻

    I'm watching a lot of these videos for some reason, and really curious about the different types of these switches. Are some less prone to arching then others?

    • @jobhoeflaak1620
      @jobhoeflaak1620 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, with smaller switches there are special casings to prevent arc flashes. I wouldn't know if this was also the case for substations like this tho, I think not because it isn't really necessary at that height. At the end of the day every switch is able to have an arc flash with the correct voltage but smaller big voltage switches are also built with safety measures for that situation.

      I believe a lot of it depends on the load at which the switch is breaking. More load equals more arch. I'm sure temperature and humidity have to do with it too.

    Clever! Looks like rods take the punishment of the arc instead of main contactor ?

    • @imeprezime1285
      @imeprezime1285 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That was the idea. But putting arcing horns helps very little here. Sparks jump interchangeably between them and main contacts, but they are weak and not dangerous to the electrodes

    Arcing is the word you struggle to spell.
    Arc + ing
    ‘Acr’? Do you really think that is it?
    Additionally, was that connecting or disconnecting? Sure looks like connecting to me.
    Now, if that isn’t 161KV the title is 100% wrong.
