Does anybody else deliberately do something wrong so that others can see and correct me and feel good and more confident about themselves in what they are doing? It’s teaching them in a subtle way, but because you do it fairly regularly, you end up looking like you’re dumb which irritates you, but kind of cracks you up at the same time !?
You're right that we prefer to teach by demonstration. Back in high school when my classmates and I first learned programming, I absolutely enjoyed helping and teaching my classmates out when they're stuck in the activity, while one of my few friends and I are already done with it. Like, I'd asked them what they're having problems with, or if they don't know what they're having problems with, I'd just look through their code and then show them what they're doing wrong and let them correct it themselves so that afterwards they can see the changes that they've made. ISTP guy here. Heh. Edit: After finishing the video, all I can say is: "This is pretty spot-on!"
I actually do try to some degree to be perceived as "cool" lol, but only as far as I'm doing things that I genuinely want to do. And when someone acknowledges it, I get this warm feeling like "omg I didn't want to bring attention to it but thank you for noticing" Last week I actually had a friend say "Are you military?" after seeing my camouflage rain jacket. I said no, it's just ordinary camo. She responded "Oh, well I thought you were. You look like it. You know, like, tough girl sort of vibe." I could feel my soul swell up with pride, I was so happy. I said "Thank you! That really means a lot..."
When I was an ISFP, I USED to really not want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I’ve learned that people will always try to take that for granted and walk on you. I was moving closer to the T side a while ago. Now, I think about me, and look out for myself because I’m worthy also and will let you know don’t take my kindness for weakness, because I will put you out of my life and walk away which leaves people surprised. Ill still be nice, but I’ll know my boundaries and keep you at a distance.
Yeah you’re right. It’s nice to be acknowledged. Actually everything you said was spot-on. It would be cool to be an ISTP if I were a boy. It’s weird to be an ISTP girl. I use to snowboard too. I like to learn new things on my own. I do better watching and learning rather than someone trying to explain. I tend to fail on purpose because I know it’s expected for a newbie to fail and struggle. I hate that I do that. That’s why I’d rather learn alone so I don’t feel like I have to do bad to make others feel good. Weird eh? Yes don’t like to count chickens before hatching. I don’t want to get too excited because it’s too hard if it doesn’t work out.
Every ISTP video I pass by holds various aspects that touch my soul. Love to teach, give, care, learn. Learning especially. Emphasis on learning to learn. Cross referencing various and sometimes wide ideas might yield positive results, and even negative results are also good because eventually, it's the road to success.
Yep, so true about sports being jntellectualized by ISTPs..especially football. It takes a whole lot of thinking to master the game and understand the role of each player and have the fluid grasp of tactical scenarios

Its odd but I find my dreams also tend to lead to absurd scenarios that make me laugh. The night I saw the Jurassic Park 3 trailer (were grant talks about raptors learning how to speak) I had the following dream: I was being chased by a T-rex and made it to a clearing in the center there was a 20 story high pile of tires. I ran for it hoping that I could find cover but the T-rex stopped at the clearing edge and than turned away. It was as I would soon find out because this was Utah Raptor territory (the movies have always portrayed velociraptors as being grossly oversized.) I made it to the stack of tires and started making my way through the maze (which had odd hobbit doors about every 20-30 tires at all angles) and was soon hunted by raptors. Now I had to simultaneously track my progress through the maze while also anticipating their hunting behaviors. Eventually I opened the top most door and it lead to my bathroom. Looking down I saw that I was dirty so I decided to take a bath. I was just starting to relax when I heard the bathroom door open and smelled the stench of rotting flesh and the iron of dried blood. I could see the silhouette of the raptor on the shower curtain and before I could try to think my way out of the situation it pulled back the curtain and dropped a toaster into the tub. The last thing I remember while being electrocuted was hearing it chuckle. After all language denotes intelligence and humor goes hand in hand with intelligence.

So true about the roasting. When I was younger I would get people to fight me by the level of insult. The best one a are when they have to think about it for a moment
Interesting info on ISTP's. Thanks. Here's some info I'll bet you haven't heard. These days. "everybody and their dog", online, who talk about the 16 types....always talks about: Functions. But-- it was not always that way. Here come the juicy parts: 1. I've heard that JUNG himself, didn't even use J vs. P ...so it wasn't quite "Myers-Briggs", yet. and then, later-- Isabel Myers-Briggs would CO-author the book: Gifts Differing. Functions are mentioned in this book, but verrry brifely. Almost in passing, with nowhere near the constant mania we see online today. It WAS about the 4 letters and which ones you had. Not the functions. This is also shown in 2 other widely popular Books on Myers-Briggs, both well-researched. They are: 1. TYPE TALK by Kroeger and Theussen. 2. LIFE TYPES by Hirsch & Kummerow Both books have profiles of all 16 types, and yet, you won't read about functions. These books are much closer, time-wise, to when Isabel was still living. and used for years after. Even closer to OUR time, in 2010, MIKE ADAMS and "Vision Leadership Systems"" had youtube videos on Myers Briggs, again all 16 types, and again, much, much smaller use of functions. This WAS Myers-Briggs and was " the real deal." Here's an example: th-cam.com/video/xYvHckBPIWI/w-d-xo.html Now, I ask you: Did you hear him go on and on and on about: "introverted intuition", extroverted sensing, or "auxilliary" functions? Maybe 5%. Nothing at all like now. So what happened? Where did this "all-functions-all-the-time" get started? There may also be other causes, but one that was very noticeable to me and stood out (because of the sheer numbers of TH-cam videos, back when folks were making far less of them and there was "less competition") was stuff by "Dave Superpowers". It seemed to me that suddenly, out of nowhere, this guy practically flooded youtube with a tidal wave of videos, and this guy preached-functions-from-the-housetops. Most young Millennials and 20-somethings and 30-somethings apparantly didnt know any different...probably hadnt read ANY of the above books, which were around FIRST, and this guy seemed to "out youtube" everyone else/ So-o...it caught on. In my opinion. But it seemed much more like his own new system. I didnt find any other TH-camrs preaching functions like this. Again, compare Mike Adams, above, with anyone today. (more below)... Again, there may also have been other things, but on TH-cam, this one really stood out and was noticeable. There was less videos and less competition then. It was practically looking like a whole new system (his) at the time, but he made video after video and people started listening to him. Then, those who listened (and AGAIN very likely has nooo knowledge of the above books) started making their own videos on type, parroting what they heard about functions. Now we have another generation and another wave and its all the rage because folks can say a more complex system gives "a deeper look"....and again, People dont read the FOUNDER of the 2 or 3 most widely circulated books. But no one talks about that these days. Further, no one today asks: who wrote "the FUNCTIONS Reference-Bible" that this would even catch on in the first place? Food for thought.
Lmao is like she is describing me. For some reason it was very difficult for me to get a correct result for a long time but when i discover i was an istp, everything made so much f sense.
I actually hate that my ISTP husband is always correcting how I do things, especially when it is something he doesn’t do. When we were dating I thought “wow, he is so smart. He knows so much about so many things.” After 7 years together it’s more like “why don’t you let me do me without all the criticism!”
I think he might just be trying to help you out. Or he just can’t stand someone doing something wrong that they’re supposed to be doing. Ex, istp’s usually want to be the best at something if they’re gonna do it, not good. I’m guessing he’s projecting that onto you.
@@gabegh1478It's not. Don't be silly. I am an ESTP. I'll admit I do the same thing. I only do it to be helpful and make my beloved better or consider sth else.
The thing I really avoid would be commitments or systems that make me part of it and its responsibilities, like feel trapped in it. If someone wants to take advantage or control me, I wouldn't hesitate to have them beaten up or dead by someone.
Nice summary and good takes. I just didnt understand the last part, where you mentioned that ISTPs and ISFPs are optimistic about the/their future, while ESTPs and ESFPs are not. But with your explanation it seemed rather like they are not so very optimistic, because they can only be very certain in the moment and dont like to get overly excited about the future?
I like being cool but just a little bit, I don't want to push myself and if I'm gonna be cool then it needs to be in my own flow. It must come off as natural and nonchalant-ish or just eh don't care about what people think about me. Anyway I like the last part of the vid.
As an INTJ, ISTPs are one of the few (or perhaps only) types I find genuinely intimidating. I have an old ISTP friend who would always be the stoic "alpha" in the room, which somehow put me off my cool and I often found myself suddenly lacking the internal authority I always held onto. He was always incredibly inventive growing up and took a lot of interest in physics... when he wasn't collecting knives and practising archery! He has always been emotionally clueless, however, and can be appallingly blunt (and that's coming from an INTJ!). I thought it was hilarious when he couldn't remember his girlfriend's surname from fifteen years earlier -- he could barely remember her first name! -- but could remember his boss's name and what car he was driving at the time! He really is dead inside. 🤣
@@johnknight9150 Understood, it was supposed to be just slight blunt/sarcastic ISTP response. My Fe is balanced out from having an ENFJ best friend of over 20 years. So I understand how an unhealthy type can lead out to be missing out in some aspects of enjoying what life has to offer.
@@michaelchoi5247 I don't know if it's about missing out on what life has to offer (though that is certainly a good thing to be conscious of) so much as fighting an unwinnable war against the brewing forces within. James Hetfield and the dynamics that took place within Metallica - leading up to the group's internal breakdown in the early 2000s - is a good example. We saw Some Kind of Monster with an ISTP friend who hated the experience with a violent disdain (we enjoyed it). He hated the soft underbelly that showed up instead of the strong armour, unaware that he is himself hurtling towards the same fate.
@@johnknight9150 Sometimes, for ISTP, you just need to accept Feelings for what it is. You can’t always logically perceive feelings and there isn’t always the need to have good reasons for feeling them. You won’t usually find an ISTP that truly understand that idea and it makes them feel uncertain, which is literally what they hate.
I'm an ISTP with highly developed Ni and Te. My Fe is horrible. In fact lower in use than Fi in my stacking. Sometimes I'm mistaken for an INTJ when in the Ti-Ni loop.
heck no..subconcious function cannot be developed just like that...Try to find your weakness and stress .That way yoiu can type accurately.Everybody wish to be something delutional but you inferior and trickster cannot be hidden,It keep reminds you what you lack and where you are mistaken
8:43 besied all true things you said, this is extremely true for me i love creating items, movies and all in my mind just even by the smallest or most ridiculous thing u can think of i guess thats one of the reasons why i am always in my mind and want to talk with people so i can keep the movie playing
So...I'm an INTP, and my fwb is an ISTP. I have a question about questions. You know how INTPs can come off as uncaring, but we aren't really? Well...part of that is that I tend to assume that if someone wants to share something, they'll share it, and I hold off on asking personal questions out of what I see as respect for a person's privacy level. Is the ISTP likely to interpret my lack of inquiry in that way? There are things I'd like to know about him, and it would be ironic if he thought I wasn't more interested in him because I wasn't asking. Thanks!
ISTP here. Just ask. You’ll know they don’t want to talk about something if they become visibly annoyed (probably doesn’t want to talk about it) or you might find that they talk in circles, restating or repeating themselves (probably doesn’t want to talk about it, doesn’t know how much to talk about or doesn’t have much to say about it.) If it’s something personal, answer the question yourself first to them as an example. That way the boundaries are clear and there’s less ambiguity about how much to reveal. The level of detail, how much private information is requested, how much personal opinion is allowed could be conveyed in your example. Hope this helps.
I've always gotten a good response from people in general by asking but saying if you don't want to talk about it, just say the word and that'll be the end of it. That way they know that I'm open to hearing them out without judgement but also respect their boundaries.
I actually totally relate to this too, I'm an ISTP. It's funny you ask, cos if a close person doesn't ask me questions I do feel a bit like they're not interested, cos with close people I will ask loads once we have a deeper connection
Being naturally isolating, I'd like to know how to acquire a suitable female specimen with little to no effort. I'm curious as to how my services could benefit a worthy female. The following are the services i am willing to provide: appreciating your core aspect (may be unsettling at first), engaging in meaningful conversation (avoiding small talk), finding out what makes you tick (may annoy you)
As I've got older I'm more into Ti and Ni and not as sociable. I now feel a lot like INTJ, but they have more routine and predictability. They're also not as fast or adaptive physically or socially imo
I'm an ISTP with an ESFJ boyfriend too.. apparently we are good compatibility for that type. I feel like we are opposites in so many ways but at the core almost the same too! Deep pain and challenges, feel different, but also fun loving, ADHD, clever
We ISTPs are Sigma types, and I find the Sigma type to be the new Alpha. And they don't care what others thing, for we are all about finding the truth of all things. And that keeps us grounded in reality.
This is the most spot on ISTP vid that I have seen - as soon as I heard we like to roast people, I was like “oh she gets it”. I’ve noticed that we seem respected but (almost) feared by the other types. Like we’re super mysterious (which, okay I guess I’ll take some responsibility for that one) mechanical wizards. I think it’s because we are constantly taking in information and internally cataloguing it, we expect the people we love to do the same in order to understand us, and it feels a little frustrating when it seems like they aren’t putting in the effort to do what we do naturally. …I might have had a personal break through just now 🫢

It’s teaching them in a subtle way, but because you do it fairly regularly, you end up looking like you’re dumb which irritates you, but kind of cracks you up at the same time !?
Damn. 😂
My favorite ISTP is my dad. This was pretty spot on.
Fantastic video, much more realistic than a lot of other videos on this topic
-istp
I actually do try to some degree to be perceived as "cool" lol, but only as far as I'm doing things that I genuinely want to do. And when someone acknowledges it, I get this warm feeling like "omg I didn't want to bring attention to it but thank you for noticing"
Last week I actually had a friend say "Are you military?" after seeing my camouflage rain jacket. I said no, it's just ordinary camo. She responded "Oh, well I thought you were. You look like it. You know, like, tough girl sort of vibe." I could feel my soul swell up with pride, I was so happy. I said "Thank you! That really means a lot..."
I’ve been debating if I’m an ISTP or INTP and this really helped. Gave me some things to think about.
Why not do some test?
@@buns448 tests tend to be inaccurate. If you want to be accurate then you have to study the cognitive functions
Amazed at how accurate this was! Nice job!
Thanks Dave! 😁
It's annoyingly funny 🤣
Every ISTP video I pass by holds various aspects that touch my soul.
Love to teach, give, care, learn. Learning especially. Emphasis on learning to learn. Cross referencing various and sometimes wide ideas might yield positive results, and even negative results are also good because eventually, it's the road to success.
Yep, so true about sports being jntellectualized by ISTPs..especially football. It takes a whole lot of thinking to master the game and understand the role of each player and have the fluid grasp of tactical scenarios

I’m infp. My isfp mom taught me how to play piano. She doesn’t even play. She homeschooled me and taught my Sunday school class. She was our favorite teacher. She makes furniture by hand. She is just freaking awesome 😎 🤩 One of the coolest person I know.
That is pretty accurate, as an 16y.o ISTP girl I might not be very good about inventing new things.. I guess, it comes with maturity) you were especially right about people-pleasing for my experience (but nowadays I’m becoming less gentle somewhy, I’ll try to be nice later, but in a more healthy manner)
Thank you for the video, enjoyed it pretty much!
Wow this is insanely observant
thank you :)
Its odd but I find my dreams also tend to lead to absurd scenarios that make me laugh. The night I saw the Jurassic Park 3 trailer (were grant talks about raptors learning how to speak) I had the following dream:
I was being chased by a T-rex and made it to a clearing in the center there was a 20 story high pile of tires. After all language denotes intelligence and humor goes hand in hand with intelligence.
bruh when you said at 3:50 they tend to be people's pleaser even tho their nature is like ''idc fuck all of yall type '' i literally thinked youre spitting FACTS
That’s a lie. A big one at that. We are the most disagreeable type.
Ha yeah we’re overlooked because y’all know we’ll just get it done.
So true about the roasting. When I was younger I would get people to fight me by the level of insult. The best one a are when they have to think about it for a moment
I don't agree that we are 'people pleasers' . We just really don't want the drama, it's a waste of time.
That's exactly what I was thinking! Maybe it's an age thing?
Interesting info on ISTP's. Thanks.
Here's some info I'll bet you haven't heard. These days. "everybody and their dog", online, who talk about the 16 types....always talks about: Functions. But--
it was not always that way. Here come the juicy parts:
1. I've heard that JUNG himself, didn't even use J vs. P ...so it wasn't quite "Myers-Briggs", yet. and then, later--
Isabel Myers-Briggs would CO-author the book: Gifts Differing. They are:
1. TYPE TALK by Kroeger and Theussen.
2. LIFE TYPES by Hirsch & Kummerow
Both books have profiles of all 16 types, and yet, you won't read about functions.
I AM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS.
As an ISTP I prefer to to teach and learn by doing while learning.
It's his way of being helpful
I think he might just be trying to help you out. Or he just can’t stand someone doing something wrong that they’re supposed to be doing. Ex, istp’s usually want to be the best at something if they’re gonna do it, not good. I’m guessing he’s projecting that onto you.
Maybe he’s also narcissist
Oh wow 🤩 this vid is the most accurate to me, after watching a brunch of ISTP vid,
Pretty accurate, good observed, apart from having a dry humor. That must just be your boyfriend.. ISTPs can be very different..
by dry I mean delivered very straight faced for comedic effect like Nate Bargatzee. But this isn't all ISTPs
An istp armed with the knowledge of MBTI or depth psychology will also take hypotheticals or extroverted intuition into his equations.
I always get excited about the future some things have no chance but to happen
Well, that's was pretty close to how am. Well done.
As an ISTP, sounds like you’re jealous 👍🏻
@@michaelchoi5247 Yes and no. Definitely on an initial level, but later on it just seems like a repressed way of being.

Hi Kate. Your video shined a light on my behavior. Thanks for yr insights

Man, you’ve got me pinned. Gracias

You think you know me.
You don't know me.

Ugh 😩
Get out of my head🏃🏽♀️
🤣🤣🤣
So...I'm an INTP, and my fwb is an ISTP. I have a question about questions. You know how INTPs can come off as uncaring, but we aren't really? Well...part of that is that I tend to assume that if someone wants to share something, they'll share it, and I hold off on asking personal questions out of what I see as respect for a person's privacy level. Is the ISTP likely to interpret my lack of inquiry in that way? There are things I'd like to know about him, and it would be ironic if he thought I wasn't more interested in him because I wasn't asking. Thanks!
ISTP here.
Just ask. You’ll know they don’t want to talk about something if they become visibly annoyed (probably doesn’t want to talk about it) or you might find that they talk in circles, restating or repeating themselves (probably doesn’t want to talk about it, doesn’t know how much to talk about or doesn’t have much to say about it.)
If it’s something personal, answer the question yourself first to them as an example.
I also like to push my esfp friend's buttons in class to let him create more disturbances hahahaha.
Being naturally isolating, I'd like to know how to acquire a suitable female specimen with little to no effort. I'm curious as to how my services could benefit a worthy female.
The following are the services i am willing to provide: appreciating your core aspect (may be unsettling at first), engaging in meaningful conversation (avoiding small talk), finding out what makes you tick (may annoy you)
You could sum this up by just saying ISTPs are logically grounded.
Wow. Dead on. So much for feeling unique. ;)
Sometimes I think I'm an ISTP and other times INTJ.
These two are very commonly mistyped for each other. What characters do you think you are like and why?
As I've got older I'm more into Ti and Ni and not as sociable. I now feel a lot like INTJ, but they have more routine and predictability. They're also not as fast or adaptive physically or socially imo

How many of you are smiling while watching this 😂😂
Or just lerk in the shadows
What is your type?
I love hypotheticals, do other ISTPs enjoy hypotheticals?
Hypotheticals are literally our Ni so of course otherwise we wouldn’t really be istp.
We ISTPs are Sigma types, and I find the Sigma type to be the new Alpha. And they don't care what others thing, for we are all about finding the truth of all things. And that keeps us grounded in reality.
We also see images and videos in our head. I wonder how many of istps are high functioning autistics (aka aspergers)
