Hey, if you’d like a little insight… this is album closer. The song is about him calling out to a spirit he’s been trying to contact the whole album (his ex-fiancé, who dumped him at the altar, but they’ve since married). Finally, she’s arrived… and he tells her clearly: Stay.
There’s a lot of callbacks to earlier tracks from the record & their whole discography here. That transition scream was used a lot on their previous album, Astoria, for example.
Glad you enjoyed the listen, definitely give them more of your time & you’ll be very happy. They just released the album opener to their upcoming 6th album last month (A Normal Life) if you want to click & get a better understanding of the concept & stuff.

Mariana's do amazing concept albums and this song is the closer of the albums, so its samples all other songs, and gives you the conclusion to the albums. Which is why, it sounds like three or four songs one after another, but its reflecting on the journey of the albums. Album openers and closers are amazing from them, Phantoms is essentially reflecting back on a break up as he is reconnecting with his ex, wondering if its worth it to try again after so many times of trying. The album before was about the break up, this him figuring out what he wants, and if its worth it to try again....when other relationships he seems to have don't quite make it... the ending is him telling us that he told 'Eleanora' to 'Stay', meaning he decided to try again, to which him and his girl actually finally got married during this album being made, or shortly after it was released. The concept of the album is a story, but also how it sounds sonically and the theme of it. Astoria the album before.....seriously go react to Astoria!!, is all created using only instruments from the 80's and before, and have a while 80's vibe and takes reference of a the goonies with Astoria as it journey's you through a break up and called off wedding. While Phantoms concept and theme is taken from Edgar Allen Poe and the tell a tale heart, etc about being haunted and has a different sound to it...
but seriously go listen to Astoria!!!

As a Baltimore Ravens fan, you should give the whole album a listen if you haven’t already. Much of the album has references to Edgar Allan Poe, including the opener Elenora.
