it was funny how much speedrunners struggled having to adjust to just walking and gliding instead of being able to instantly propel yourself across the map and run infinitely

Good. That stuff was soo bad and cringe, imagine having to skip & glitch most of this Masterpiece of a game just to post a 100m sprint time. They were never really Zelda fans, just E-sport 'gamers' after a quick buck.
I love the universal feeling of players entering the depths for the first time, getting the first light root on the map, and realized what was said here: "Oh. Oh this game is BIG big."
Because uhhh YEAH it really is.
That would have been a surprise for me but some guy next to me in line at the launch spoiled the underground

@@ihatealderney The Depths are interesting enough, provided you actually walk around and explore. There's neat little mirrors of the surface, inversions of it, and plenty of stuff to find and defeat down there.
Hyrule itself isn't all interesting stuff either. There has to be boring stuff between the interesting stuff.

The thing about Link's first dive is if you don't accelerate you can time it so that the music cuts out as he hits the water.
The diving music is dynamic! so it always ends right as you land

@@Dado_nastro yea, but at the same time they were fairly uncommon, and now you're basically handed a few dozen fire fuses in the tutorial. Not complaining tho 😂
And I quickly used all of them shooting brightbloom seeds all over the depths, and now they are surprisingly slow to find, oops.
@@scorcher117 yep, I'm coming to realize the same right after beating the rito boss. Now every crate I is just a potential arrow, so im losing most of my heavy melees breaking boxes 🙂

Just use Ultrahand and break it the way you would a Metal Box with Magnesis. Lift it really high and let it fall.
The sheer amazement at grinding the rail was shared with probably everyone at that moment.

@@llamadrama1090 I got about halfway down one of them before slipping off into the clouds below. At that point, to me, it isn't a slippery rail.
I noticed that sprinting takes more stamina, swimming takes less, and bullet time takes stamina if you fire. It's definitely an improvement.
If you fall from the air with no stamina into the water, you are given stamina instead of instantly drowning.
Cant believe i spent over 100 hours to build link up just for him to blow it in 4 seconds. Come on man

I did the snow shrine before the fuse shrine. That's what makes this game so amazing. I am so glad I went to bed early to play this after midnight
I almost skipped the Ascend shrine, I used Ultrahand to make a "ladder" in the area where you were meant to use ascend

1 year later, one of my favorite things about this game is that every streamer independently came up with the idea to torture koroks. They weren’t copying each other, everyone came up with it on day one before learning everyone else was doing it too.
Like how every country invented beer before learning that every other country also invented beer.
Ive cheesed like 12 shrines just "magnesising" something upwards and dropping it then standing on it and rewinding up IT WORKS SO MUCH
Thats actually what one of the shrines solutions is so they definitely know about it...
Same it is the ultimate strategy. If you have 2 platforms you can go back and forth and get super high. Just stand on one life rhe other up stand on the other rewind lift the other up while being lifted up repeat
Yeah whenever I see a shrine it’s my go to strategy finding funny ways to beat shrines is great
I have a feeling that speedrunners are gonna find a way to break through the opening sequence and keep the max hearts and stamina

Just finished my 11 hour first session ^^; this game is gonna be my hyperfixation for weeks. Also I adore the depth added to the NPC's this time~ the side adventures are great

I originally thought that Rauru's voice actor was Matthew Mercer. I proceeded to look it up, found out Mercer voiced Ganon, got scared, found out it was Chris Hackney, felt relieved.
10:16 the menacing look of dropping the Korok off the side of the island is my favorite part.
Fun detail that you start the game with 15 hearts per line, 30 max like the cap in botw, despite the fact that in totk has 20 per line and 40 is the cap
I never watched any of the gameplay so fuse was a TOTAL surprise to me, such a cool ability!
This is probably the most well made mod of Breath of the Wild I have ever seen.

@@catalyst539 I mean, the devs genuinely started this game with "we have too many botw DLC ideas, let's make an entire second game composed of just DLC ideas", and they came up with this. This game is quite literally the devs' own officially licensed breath of the wild mod.

@@michaeltovah4 well yeah, they eventually decided they needed to add a couple hundred more koroks because we hadn't suffered enough last game, but still, it's a good percentage "wouldn't this be cool as a DLC? Oh, but it conflicts with this that and that." Or "oh, but that would take up too much space to just make as a DLC", etc. So they made a full game out of it. You can see how a lot of this stuff would have made sense as DLC alterations to certain quests in regular botw.
I remember diving into the chasm for the first time, I had seen zero trailers and knew nothing about the game beside the basics, like merging, vehicles and the whole sky area. Though from what I can tell, the trailers didn’t show the depths. Anywho, I thought that chasm was just leading to a cave, then I got the light root and realised “Oh god, this is an entire map, huh?”

Din't know you could shoot the frox in the eye, makes so much sense.
When I ran out of bombs i just shot other stuff in his mouth which kept him cheewing for long enough that I could get some Hits in.
39:50 That's a really neat way to solve that shrine. I also spent like 20 minutes trying to build steps, until I remembered I could just stack them and use Ascend... Which, in my defense, that's the most situational ability, so it's the easiest to forget like Cryonis in BOTW.

I played TotK all day today and went into the Depths twice, but didn't encounter Frox. Nor did I encounter Master Kohga! I better dip now before the fight gets spoiled

Fusing a glider to your shield lets you shield jump higher, you can get bullet time anywhere with the added height
I like how the game is friendly to people who haven't played BOTW but also has a lot of little nods back to BOTW for the OG players :)

i put off watching this for fear of spoilers. I just finished the 4 regional phenomenon quests so i thought it was safe but i haven't even seen the yiga yet and haven't done much in the great plateau lmao it is kind of hilarious how free-form your progression can be

I love this new building system because I found it hard to get around in both. I would always climb cliffs and paraglide off them
