Just my perspective on this: the tethers look like roots. It's as if the castles were rooted to the ground, but have become uprooted, and are floating away on the clouds. Cute and whimsical ❤

I agree, they definitely ended up looking like roots. I think in a different version I could draw chains for the tethers. Might be interesting.
