Thanks for the video, very helpful. I'm completely new to reaper and would have probably spent hours trying to figure half this stuff out myself. Really appreciate it.
This is a fantastic video, man. I just learned about the “chord scale arp” thing and you took it way past where I was. Plus all of the other tips. I watched this while doing the dishes, so I’m going to get to my PC and run through all of this again. You covered a LOT of ground quickly. I’m looking forward to checking out your other content. Thanks!!
Thanks... Yea I wanted to have a reference video for when I start making beats in my other videos so that people can follow along with me instead of everyone asking how did you do that .. lol.. it's easier to have a starting video people can follow if they want to skip ahead they can purchase the reaper config file that I made as well... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Yea... So many hidden gems that I left off as well... Hopefully people will realize the power of the midi editor in Reaper and the power of customization... Thanks for the comment.. 😀🙏🏾
@@learningreaper Well thats for sure! I use Reaper for 3 years now and i learn new things everytime I’m watching your Reaper videos! Many thanks brother🙏🏻💪🏻
Thanks! Coming from the ease of use of Garageband and even Abelton and Reaper is like quantum physics of user interfaces. I have to look up almost every little thing as it's not intuitive.
It does have a learning curve but the trick is to make the DAW work how you want it... That's the best thing about Reaper the customization that it has you can make Reaper function and look like Ableton if you really want to ... I say just keep at it and you will start to understand what I mean .. good luck...😀🙏🏾
Glad you got something out of the video... The customization is so good in Reaper not sure why people do talk about it more... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Hi, I just joined your channel. Thank you so much for all your great content. As a former teacher it even for me is a bit hard to follow along when you as three actions and then later show what they do. I'm not trying to be negative, hope you see that, but for tutoring purposes first I'd explain what one action and show what it does, then show how to ad the action and then go on to the next one and do the same. Ex: split notes on grid (like in in fl studio). Now I don't use fl studio so I have no idea what you mean. So maybe it's an idea to first show what that specific action does, how to set it up and then move on to the next action. There are a lot of newbies that don't get the grasp of reaper and the more methodically you show stuff the easier it is to learn and not get lost. Maybe even short videos on scripts, commands etc would be an idea. I hope you don't take this negatively as it's not intended to be. I really enjoy your content. Greetings ...
I appreciate the feed back... I will probably make some shorts to explain better which should help with some of the confusion I hope... My videos are not scripted so I kinda stair off a little... Lol.. but thanks for the comments and thank you for watching...😀🙏🏾
Great vid and worth watching even if you think you know. 😁I got the paid version without thinking and it changed my whole setup. But with Reaper you can always go back and do it by hand. Which showed me a better way to do my piano roll, so thank you, you just showed an old dog a new trick or two.😊Again Thank You.
Thanks for watching... Yea these are some of the things that people forget about when using Reaper customization... It the king for sure... Lol.. thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Hey great video man, learned a lot of useful tips! I use FL Studio and I'm thinking about trying out Reaper. Just had a quick question. As you mentioned in the video, you showed how to add notes with a single click. Do you know if it's also possible to change the settings in Reaper so that when you click the left mouse button down it places a note, and then (while you're still holding the left click down) you can move the note around to a different location like in FL Studio. And then when you release the click it places the note? Or can you just place the note in the exact location where you initially clicked?
You can go up and down and stretch when holding down the click but it does not move freely like FL Studio that might be unique to FL... It's funny I have never tried that beforehand it's good to know.. a lot of DAWs are double click to add notes but FL is a different beast... Lol.. thanks for the comment..😀🙏🏾
@@learningreaper Ah no problem man, I though so! Yeah I know ;) Thanks for the reply too :D Do you know of any other DAW which has this functionality, since I use this feature soo much?
Not sure what you are asking....🤔 To remove things in the piano roll right click drag what you don't want and delete.. or double click a single note to remove it... Hope this helps
Just mobility and if you download all the formats you can use it on Mac... PC and Linux so pretty much you can use it on anything... Or let's say you don't want to bring your desktop computer to the studio you can bring just the flash drive and still load your sessions the only thing about that is the vsts might not be the same on someone else's computer so not all of your sessions vsts will open.
Thank you for watching... I tried to show some of the things that people don't know the midi editor can do.. and how to make some customizations of your own to make the editor fit for you... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
followed these instructions to a t, cant seem to get the scales to show up from the chords scales and arps script. it allows me to import from my user plug ins. They all show up on the menu and i hit close. when i right click on the note in piano roll there is just insert note like usual. Any idea what could be going on? i went over the steps several times.
@@learningreaper around 14:30 in the video. insert scale using right click. when i right click on the note that option wont come up. cant see what i could have done wrong. from what i can tell ive followed all the steps leading up to that point. the nessacary file is there and all the keymaps show up. just when i right click after closing out the window it wont come u, just the usual right click options. Not sure if im explaining it well.
Yea ... It gets deep over here at learning reaper... Lol... Such an amazing DAW that is starting to get some traction among producers now... You just have to get over the hurdle of setting it up... 😀🙏🏾
You can take a flash drive anywhere with you and if you have more than one computer you can just plug it in and start up reaper anywhere...
