I've been dreaming of this. Only thing is the Illuminate are definitely using the bots and bugs/partnered with them like they wanted to with super earth before the first galactic war
I think that you find some civilians trapped by Terminids or Automatons, and when you kill the enemies, they are free, but then the illuminate show up and kill them
So my theory is due to the audio and the genuine surprise and fear the civi’s had they’ll be dropped randomly. When this will be we don’t know but I’m guessing they’ll appear when we’re on a mission or doing a major order
They'll probably appear after we defeat the bots. And I'd also like to think that “The Reclamation” was a signal that the Automation’s intercepted from the illuminate. But then we intercept it but we think it's from the Automatons

that’d actually be really cool, to have a stratagem to call in an enemy drop/breach/[whatever the hell these guys will do] that comes with a specific target that you want to take down. Like that bug thumper that came out in the leaks a while back, maybe a hivelord wont spawn until you drop down a bug thumper to make a big enough disturbance in the soil to have it notice you

Im assuming it's going to be mission specific, like maybe the illuminate can darken the battlefield and we need to call the flare to see them properly.

considering the leaks about moradesh and dark fluid that would be a good opportunity for the illuminate to be introduced makes sense to me that the first place they’d make their grand entrance is where we’re researching an unstable planet killer and try to sabotage everything so maybe they pop up and completely take over from the bugs mid mission and clear out any still surviving bugs before hunting us or they suddenly invade moradesh and it becomes a defense campaign for the Local scientists and dark fluid facilities

My interpretation of what happened: 4 Helldivers, all male, on a mission to evacuate civilians. Sudden “rift” opens up and Bipedal cephalopods (AKA illumanite) start marching out of it, opening fire on civilians (Illumanite also appears to have some “secret weapon” going off of the “OH GOD THE TENTACLES!!” Line) 3/4 Helldivers and all evacuating civilians are killed before one helldiver tactically retreats, using up most of his stims as well. Unknown what happens next but this appears to be audio from a test of voice lines and civilian reactions to illumanites appearing.
I absolutely love how menacing the image looks. Just imagining the story behind it: A Helldiver, a Super Citizen from the looks of it, separated from his squad in a sandstorm. Radar is of no use and visibility is so low you can barely see 2 meters in front of you. But in the distance he sees something. A humanoid figure from the looks of it. Its not firing back at him so its definitely not an Automaton, and bugs dont stand on 2 legs so it must be a Helldiver. Yet the closer he gets he begins to notice it looks... wrong. Its not holding any weapons, it has 3 arms, and a singular glowing eye in the middle of its forehead. All its doing is just standing there, staring at him. Observing his every movements. He'd normally raise his rifle and blow it apart in the name of Democracy but he doesn't. He doesn't know why. The figure then vanishes in a flash of blue light, almost as if it was never there to begin with. And as the sandstorm mysteriously settles shortly afterwards, this Helldiver, for the first time in his life, knows the true meaning of the one emotion he was taught to never feel: fear.
A crazy way for them to introduce the Illuminate this time around would be to have them come in during a liberation campaign against the bots where it seems like we’re toast, but then outta nowhere, the squids come in and wipe out several bot-controlled planets in a matter of hours. That would establish the Illuminates as the greater threat in this second galactic war, no questions asked.
Given the few wave sounds in this leak, I feel like the water puddles or lakes on different planets are going to be emergence points for the illuminate, just like bug breaches.
Gentlemen… this is why we need to team up with the Automatons… they have far more numbers with the fabricators and they can be useful to us when we fight the Illuminate, this is the evidence I have. Super Earth president… *Make* *Your* *Choice…*
maby just maby illuminate would show up as raiders mid mission rather than thier own faction feels like a good way to make them overpowerd but not a chore
They will be a faction like the other 2. arrowhead once made a mistake and accidently put a illuminate symbol on mantis on their galactic war progress website so it's pretty certain they will take planets and do the same shit they did in Helldivers 1

Could've been any other planet but we the players made it such a big deal that we got a cape made for us and fan lore made canon via npc dialogue, news videos, twitter and discord post from the devs playing along, and in game text. I don't know of any other multiplayer live service game where players influence the story and in game content like that. Pretty cool if you ask me. But I respect your opinion though.
