    Man I can't express how much I love your videos, they're just overflowing with juicy and genuinely thought provoking advice and mentorship! Contrast this with seemingly every other youtube dj channel which is just trying to drip-feed the absolute minimum amount of knowledge they can get away with in order to ram some paid course down your throat which will apparently instantly make you wikid (looking at you crossfader, who's host gives me the same vibes as a secondary school english teacher who doesn't want to be there and isn't getting paid enough to give a fuck). you're obviously in it for the love of music and sharing that with us all - thank you so much for doing it! Much love!!

    Just discovered your videos and i like them. I'm trying to figure out a better to mix more quickly. I've spent years organizing my tracks with tags like the genre but also what it's in the track that would be nice to mix (drop, vocals, melody, build up, etc). This is very helpful to create a epic mix but not helpful to mix freestyle on the go because it's too long for me to find the tracks i have too many... Anyway, what i really want to know is what is this mario bros in the back, seems very cool ahaha

    Thanks, I really enjoy your videos! I had a question? I like to match up tracts by using auto tempo and key. Is there a way to save the track that I created after changing the tempo and key and then be able to call up that track, or do I have to match up the tempo and the key every time?

      @ReallyChrisM  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you mean can you recall the changes you made during the mix next time then nope, the track will go back to its default

    I've been doing this for a bit - converting Histories and using them, as you describe. Really helps. What I don't think is happening, when I play "out" my Histories are not coming back from the CDJs in the club on my USB. Should I assume that histories only happen if I am playing on a device that is connected to my laptop/Rekordbox software? Thanks!

    So would you say you’re always pretty much freestyle playing? This is how I usually play, but sometimes I feel like putting together a linear playlist at home that I’ve spent hours curating that I’m pretty sure will be a really good two hours for everyone. To be more clear I’m not recording a set a home and then just pressing play, but I’m mixing all the tracks in order that I’ve already pieced together. Do you ever do that?

      I wrote about this a little in the newsletter. I tend to mostly freestyle but when planning a guestmix or recorded set I put together some key tunes I know I want to include, roughly what order and then use them as a springboard to explore

    Hi there Chris, i am really struggling with organising my music, after watching nearly all videos known to man i still can't seem to get a proper system in place due to the diverse collection i have. If you could help out or reach out and kinda understand where or what i mean, that would be amazing and i would be forever grateful! Massive fan of your videos and especially your humour!
    Will keep on watching

      It might help to spend less time organizing and more time playing. Play for yourself or friends or for a livestream or for a recorded mix on a site. You can get really into the weeds about whether qualifies as this genre or that, or maybe should be listed by some metric like BPM. But in the end the listener doesn't care about any of that, and the whole point of organizing is to gain more access to what people or you enjoy from the grey mass.
      While you're playing you can get feedback on whats working and pay attention to that. If something is slightly out of genre, but fits thats OK.. thats a discovery you've made.

      Love this ⬆️ I would add if your collection is large make sure you have a way to identify and remove tracks that aren’t pulling their weight. Over time your library will become higher quality

      Yes very important. If they aren't moving you than they aren't of use to exciting you to be able to move other people either.@@ReallyChrisM

      Hi! I had trouble with this as well And I felt like I will never be satisfied. But I settled for sorting by date and it has really calmed my nerves. Example of hierarchy I use is Source I get from (BPM Supreme, Beatport, Physical CD, etc) then inside I have it down by year and month (2024 01 January would be this month) and then all files I download from there will go into that folder for this month. Reasons why I enjoy this is because its easier for me to remember when I got a track vs having to remember where I put my newest track. I hope this helps!

    Only play vips and dubplates and atleast tripple drop every 10mins and youre sorted 🤙
