It’s nice to see Fred VanVleet doing well this season , he’s having a terrific breakout year averaging 22.1 PPG and shooting 43 from the field and 40 percent from 3 , great season in Toronto
I understand your point and i truly believe it's his best season and i thought so even before his recent hot streak but the way you said "it's nice seeing freddy doing well this season" made me laugh cause i thought you were implementing he was finally doing well😂
Murray didn't fall to 29th due to talent, I think it was due to him being linked to gangs early in his life right before the draft. Something like that. Many thought the spurs had a huge steal from the start.
How can you leave off Alex-The GOAT-Carusso? The dude came out of the G league, is leading the league in steals, and for the last couple of years his defensive metrics have been top tier. His an efficient shooter, and an underrated offensive rebounder.
Vanvleet is an example of a “good player” who has been improving his weaknesses every year. His driving and ability to create his own shot were clearly his weak points and the last two years he has even more clearly put work into improving both and it has shown in his numbers. And you can tell he’s still a long way from how good he can be which is scary. He might peak around 30 as a 25pt + 7 assist player in my opinion.
Norman Powell and Fred VanVleet played (or are still playing) for the Raptors while Tyler Herro plays for the Heat-both teams having players on this list speaks volumes as to how great their scouting and player development programs are.
@@TheBChelby yeah but he played below average the following season bc the Celtics had too many people who needed the ball in their hands to get into rhythm
For me personally, Kris Middleton is my favorite player in this category. He wasn’t super touted coming into the league and was in the D league at one point, but I remember saying I like his play style and hoped he’d improve and now he’s the second option on a championship team and an all star
I understand if this is about this season alone but I vividly remember Montrezz Harrell as a back of the bench guy in Houston who was just a toss-in in the CP3 trade who made massive strides in his career
I hope AndyHoops can do more “how good was X player actually” videos , I hope he can do like another legend like Patrick Ewing or even a player like Mitch Richmond
The famous Scalabrine quote "I am closer to Lebron than you are to me" is just true for the 99% of the NBA so when somebody gets the oppurtunity, we only should be suprised because he is not living up to the expectations.
Anfernee Simons though...he's been scary good since Dame and CJ have been out. Honestly I think Blazers should trade both Dame and CJ away and build a younger core around Powell and Simons
Idk if ur just mentioning him because he talked about the Blazers or because you think Simons should be in this video, but people were high on him coming out
I think Lou Williams was at least one time Clippers' scoring and usage rate leader coming from the bench... Also Siakam, Jokic, Jordan Poole, Bam Adebayo and many more should be in your list.
I always had faith in Herro. I believe he could be a multiple All Star for years to come along with Adebayo. They like to shunned the Heat in the media but they’ll be turning heads going into the postseason if they stay healthy and poised.
Great picks. I think you could do an entire video like this on *just* the Miami Heat. Like, you got to Tyler Herro here, and Duncan Robinson's "breakout" season was really last year, but Max Strus might have just stolen Robinson's starting spot, Caleb Martin is looking like Bulls-era Jimmy, Omer Yurtseven has become a double-double machine, and Kyle Guy literally just came out of nowhere and started balling. That team is just insane right now.
Great video. Love that you went back to this chill background music :) everyone else: if you got an extra back court east all star vote give it fred vanvleet plz - lots of good players but maybe toss a couple votes my mans way.
Yeah for sure FVV's story is one of the greatest ever to be honest.. Dude works hard. Well deserved to be an all star and all nba player. Future hall of famer?
Thank you for showing love the Stormin Norman! Dude is so underrated. It sucks Portland is making him play so even he's clearly a sg. They ruining his prime.
Terry a huge reason for 2018 Hospital Celtics success because he thrives when shoved into the starting job. Also a huge reason along with Jaylen for the game 7 collapse but hey its all part of the process
Great list. I’d give an honorable mention to Kyle kuzma. He’s been the wizards second best player all season and as of today has 18 double doubles. That’s more than Embid, kat, luka, and Durant this season
I think RJ still as the potential, he’s great defensively with a potent offense when given the opportunity, but with the offense geared more towards Randle, RJ needs to just demand the ball more.
So glad two raptors are on this list (current and past). Their front office truly is skilled in finding the gems in players. Happy Powell is getting the recognition and bigger role in Blazers
The Hornets have a bright future with Lamelo, Bridges, and Rozier as the focal point and have PJ and Oubre off the bench. Also got some veteran presence too
They’re giving Herro the Jamal Crawford treatment where he’s one of their biggest offensive weapons but for some random reason he “comes off the bench” while playing starter minutes and shooting constantly.
I'm surprised Miles bridges is higher than Fred VanVleet, I mean a person who was drafted and became like the 3rd option to a team vs an undrafted player, the first option on the team, and all-star calibre player.
Fred van vleet is basically like Jonathan marchessault from the Vegas golden knights both went on a tear in their respective Sports even though they went undrafted
Tyler herro has the green light to shoot whenever he's on the court. He's there main offense for their bench. All of Miami's players know there role and play it well. Jimmy Butler is still the alpha but he lets his team get going untill the 4th quarter. I'm a heat fan since I started watching basketball, but they seem to have the best front office in the NBA. Or atleast are the team that developes players better than any other organization
I don’t feel like Tyler herro belongs on this list, he’s doing exactly what I expected, like I thought everyone had these expectations for him, like I knew some people where under rating him since he had a rough 2nd year but that’s all I viewed it as, a rough 2nd year lol
Ben gordon with the bulls and lou williams with the clippers were bth the best scorers on their team while being 6th man, so I guess they had the most fg attempts too.
Where is Lu Dort?? An undrafted player that went from benchwarmer to roll player to starter to taking the final shot in an elimination playoff game. One of the leagues best on ball defenders who is tasked with guarding the opposing teams best player on a nightly basis.
Never forget it was FVV who got that 1 single vote for FMVP in 2019, not Siakam (and it wasn't a vote from an airhead like Rachel Nichols mind you) Always knew long term he was gonna be the better player and if we were to choose between the two, I'd rather keep him
5:13 while Herro has had a better season than RJ this year, don’t count out RJ. In his past 12 games, he’s averaged over 20-21 points, on way better efficiency. And in the past 7 games hes averaged over 25 points. If he can keep this up, his season averages will go up obviously and he will close that gap. The same thing happened last year, RJ was inefficient and shooting poorly in the first 2-3 months of the season, then turned it up after January.
For me personally it is Dorian Finney Smith. OK he does not have the statics like Powell or van Vleet but he is a good player for the mavs. Especially on the defense
I like Fred I’m a fan to him If I were to support the raptors but I have a hunch that FVV will be an all star snub because of the standings of the raptors and right now Toronto doesn’t have much recognition this season
None of these guys surprised me but Herro. Everyone here were getting constantly better every year. Powell and Vanfleet looked amazing during the finals and carried that over. Spicy P looked too inconsistent for me to look like a reliable number 1.
I think Miles Bridges should be the MIP this year. Nobody at all knew Bridges is capable of playing like this. I honestly thought he could peak at 15 PPG at most. We were definitely wrong. This reminds me of when Jimmy Butler improved out of nowhere.
As a hornets fan I was disgusted by the rozier contract but after the last fee year he's one of my favorite players . Scary Terry has found his home in Charlotte
