Before becoming a vtuber she was basically nobody, just a regular college girl. She created her own vtuber avatar and managed to make her own original songs from her own pocket until she joined a vtuber agency Hololive. And now she on The First Take. I subscribed to her when she had less than 100k subs.
from what i've seen and been told, her managers worked with First Take, and because she is the first Vtuber to perform on their channel, they collectively decided that it was best to not have any introduction and just show people her music, and i think it worked
i never heard of suisei but when i saw a vtuber singing on the first take and listened to the song today i immediately had to listen to her other songs and 2 hours later i am a suisei fan now.

Suisei is a Vtuber and a talent from Hololive. Which is a virtual idol company. So they basically do singing and dancing. But imo Suisei is one of the greatest singers in Hololive Japan Branch (They have English and Indonesia branch). She really has a passion for singing even before joining Hololive.
Yagoo’s dream was broken a long time ago. He started Hololive as a virtual idol agency but the talents made short work of that vision. It’s much more of a variety streamer agency. They do gaming, chit chat, music, comedy, all kinds of content.

After watching Suisei over the last couple of years, it's so great to see her reach this milestone and perform to a much wider audience. Her Ado covers are so good the japanese use her Odo cover for the semi official Japan TH-cam Rewind 2021 (it was made by one channel but with the support of TH-cam Japan and a lot of famous content creator including Suichan and Pekora)
Vtubing is quite the rabbit hole (Hololive is the biggest agency with 3 branches - Japanese, Indonesia and Enlgish), and they do lots of things - mainly livestreaming , making music, etc.. but suffice to say Suisei is probably their top singer and has a 2nd album coming out soon!
Yes, probably the biggest in terms of reach and scope, though not in terms of talent number. They are probably the most impactful, e.g. making deals with Hollywood advertising, Sony music, and mainstream productions like The First Take.
People who don't know the Vtuber industry are always surprised to see Suisei in the First Take. She after all made history as the first Vtuber to be in it. She's one of Hololive's talents who is very good in singing. You will be more amazed to see Hololive in concert. It's pretty amazing.
I heard that Suisei was there live but wore a motion tracking suit to project the model on. She’s very talented in many ways. Great singer, great dancer, basically a pro Tetris player, very entertaining streamer, etc…. She’s one of the best singers in Hololive tho I also recommend Ayunda Risu and I really like Gawr Gura’s voice.
I've been a fan since 2020 and I never cease to be amazed by her singing. When it's something like a karaoke stream, she'll never give less than 100%. For something like this or for concerts, she goes plus ultra.
Suisei is the first virtual talent THE FIRST TAKE featured. She's part of the japanese brach of Hololive Production, which has more virtual talents from both Japan and around the globe. The talents work self-producing themselves in entertainment, most of them stream on youtube. Some like Suise, Watame, Towa and IRyS are following a music careers alongside their youtube content production. I highly recommend to keep on the look out for more talents from Hololive. My favorite is Watame, who also sings amazingly and I'm very happy that Suisei is spearheading the arrival of virtual talents to a more general audience.
Suisei is the most popular for music on the JP side, but Hololive has a lot of amazing musical talents. Definitely recommend checking out her actual MV for this song and/or Ghost. If you want to check out some of the other people there you could look at Watame's "My Song" which has a fully animated movie-level MV, or something like "I'm Your Treasure Box" from Marine. The group has hundreds of original songs and talent.

She goes from a "ghost" that just some of people know to a Star that shines brightly in the sky 😭 Thank you Suichan for never gave up your dream 😭
She is actually not my most favorite.. But seeing her career from how she is rejected, until this point... Damn, i got teary-eyed a bit.. She has done so much to get to this point, with perseverance. Even tho not my oshi, but dare i say she is like, the GOAT of vtuber in terms of talent
The thing I love most about Suisei is her absolute persistence in not only achieving her dreams but also that it must be on her own terms. The way she stood her ground when hololive rejected her keeping her suisei identity and model and told her to choose between "suisei" and getting signed by them. In the end, here we are with Suisei instead of another totally different vtuber. She taught us not only to never give up on our dreams but also never to sacrifice what is truly important to you in order to achieve it. There is always another way.

@@FoxInFlame i was watchjng a stream where the guy tried mocopi with unreal engine. i asked him about the price since iirc the official site did not give a set price. he replied that 1 set with all extras comes to about 26k yen. so at parity would be $260. however the jp yen is weak so probably quite a bit less in $
5:27 Coincidentally, at the time of this comment, Suisei is the only member in the main Japanese branch of Hololive to not have their real face known. Other members have been identified and had their history traced, while Suisei had pretty much no traceable presence outside her Hololive persona.
It helped that she started as Suisei before INNK/Hololive and kept her identity in the move. The only vtuber (that I'm aware of) to do that even after joining a company.

I would describe Suisei as "Talent Incarnate". She is so good at what she does that you might be baffled that she isn't a massive mainstream celebrity at this point.
I've heard that she went solo/indie before Hololive was a thing because she was rejected by the established idol agencies for being _too talented_ as they don't want to spend the money building up the idol's image and fanbase just for them to ditch the company and go solo (since she's demonstrated the capability of being her own producer); they _want_ that "one-trick pony" that requires their support. Suisei and Hololive grew up together, so even if she decided to go back to being solo in the future, it's been a mutually beneficial relationship.
I loved this. Just raw unfiltered Suisei. Also her and many others in the organization that she belongs to (Hololive), have 100s of hours of music (covers and originals).
She has a full album called "Still Still Stellar" (with her first songs from 2019 up til 2021), and a second album coming out soon called "Spectre"! The company she works for is completely cool with song and album reactions BTW! some of the staff and other talents even comment. Her first few songs (which you'd be able to tell easily on the album) are from when she used a much higher voice, and starting in 2020? she uses her deeper, more natural voice now because she was having throat/vocal chord issues as advised by her doctor

Hololive has so many great Musical Talents. You can try checking out Ayunda Risu's "Alice & U" it's another example of a singer from Hololive with stellar voice. She's not yet a fully established singer / diva like Suisei, but you can clearly see she's not losing to her in vocal department.
"kinda reminds me of ADO" man, there's a song Suisei sings on one of her Karaoke streams that's somehow both her and Ado sounds similarly close though. There's even a joke before that Hoshimachi Suisei is Ado.
Suisei is one of the better singers in Hololive and that is saying something considering the number of excellent vocalists Hololive has. The only other talent they have that gets close is IRyS. As for face reveal, no Hololive member has done a face reveal while still with Hololive.
I wouldn’t say Irys is the only one, don’t discount the many talents in Hololive like Towa, Azki, Sora, Moona. They are pretty high up there with Suisei and Irys
the instrumentation is stripped down, but the vocal power is the same. 5:27 she hasn't, and it's very unlikely. her sense of privacy is so high she's arguably regarded as the most elusive, among hololive talents at least.
So, a big part of the draw of Vtubers (from the perspective of the person behind the avatar) is the anonymity that it provides. While some Vtubers are fine with showing who they are, many others specifically use Vtubing as a way to avoid unwanted IRL attention. In Suisei's case, Hololive (the agency which manages her) does not allow their members to reveal their identity (in part for safety, as stalking and harassment is a serious issue). They even request that members avoid visiting their main office often, since the main office is a known location.
To answer your question: The mo-cap for her 3d model was done live, they overlay it live as well. The Hololive talents do not reveal their faces, mostly because in Japanese "Idol Culture" the fans can get a bit overzealous, and the talents want to keep their private life, private. Also, Suisei wrote the lyrics to this song, and the guy playing the guitar is the composer.
While many people are sceptical about her performance, I believe in the integrity of The First Take crews in upholding their code of conduct, and in her voice and singing skills that she has build up over the years.
The avatar can be render real time in a live production enviornment. The way it works is using motion capture just like what is done in movie production, and then the avatar's anmiations are maped to the motion capture data. The avatar isnt overlayed ontop of the actor like what is done with face filters. The scene where you see the microphone does not actually contain the actor, its just a microphone in a white room. The motion caputre along with the audio was recorded seperately and the rendered avatar from that recording was edited into the scene with the microphone.

Quite a few people have explained something of who Sui-chan is, but I've not seen anyone mention that she had surgery on her throat only a little while ago, after which she could barely speak for a month or so. She's come so far from her days as an indie, and won't let anything keep her down. She is, as her name suggests, a star; and we couldn't be more proud of her.

Suisei kinda showed here that vtubers aren't really to be scoffed at. Behind the avatars and personalities are some incredibly talented individuals, and I'm glad you were able to see that.
0:44 if you want to know if it is generated live or not, the answer is yes. I am also amazed by the technician behind hololive. I think they use VR tracking like some of the other TH-camrs out there, but maybe with a little tweaking by their techs.
so the First Take is all about singing a song in one go and only one, so because of this many artist usually choose to warm up make sure they got the voice right and they hit those notes because its only one, but for suisei she decided to not warm up all at all she went in straight, no warm up. and with this tidbit of information it just shows how good she really is (editor's note: theres plenty more vtubers who can sing if you like besure to check em out)
The performance was done mostly by motion capture or mocap technology while the the facial recognition was done with an apple technology. So yes it was actually her just with clever technology.

A little late, but heres more background on Stellar Stellar and Suisei. Suisei is a Virtual youtuber working for Hololive Production, a Japanese based idol agency. Prior to joining Hololive, she did art for other VTubers, even rigging and drawing her own model (something almost all VTubers can not achieve.) Her story is one of rags to riches, from nobody to one of the biggest names of Japanese pop culture and VTubing, up there with Gawr Gura and Fubuki. This is what the song is about, she sings about her story to motivate her fans to do the same. Also, she was originally scouted to join Hololive's music branch, iNoNaKa music (before all hololive members started to do livestreaming) thus she has a ton of experience in music.
Long story very very short. Suisie tried to be an idol but was too talented and was rejected. She eventually joined Cover Corp and Hololive which specializes in motion trading based 2d and 3d avatars controlled by real talents. Their based in Japan and have an Indonesian and English branch. Suisei is probably the best singer the whole agency.
It's not that she's too talented. Its that her skills make her a generalist and not a specialist. Basically she can do anything but isn't focused on one thing, which is what idols capitalize on, a specialty. That's why she was rejected.

This girl has worked her butt off to this point where Taku Inoue recognizes for her musical talent, not as just a vtuber. She at some point wanted to do a parody of First Take but her manager told her not to cause she told her she would get to be on First Take someday. Lo and behold

Technically, it's an avatar and there really IS Suisei in front of mo-cap camera. She IS singing, We call them Vtuber and usually don't talk about avatar stuff tho.
Hoshimachi Suisei is a Virtual TH-camr, Vtuber for short. Vtubers are youtubers that use avatars to stream and their movements are motion captured. Basically they're a real person under that "image" Her TH-cam Channel is Suisei Channel. She has many original songs and covers in her channel. You should listen to the original version of Stellar Stellar. FYI, the guitarist was the composer of this song, Taku Inoue. Hoshimachi Suisei and Taku Inoue formed a music unit called Midnight Grand Orchestra.

Let alone face reveal. The talents in holo when doing handcam stream has to wear gloves and such and to prevent reflection some even wear mask and costumes.

In regards to if it's "generated live", basically, she's wearing a motion tracking suit, and the model is projected onto her.
there might not be a suit. this is sony affiliated and sony has mocopi. very likely she is using mocopi here
It's visual motion capture. When streaming they use a webcam or a mobile app for face tracking.

i was watchjng a stream where the guy tried mocopi with unreal engine. i asked him about the price since iirc the official site did not give a set price.
he replied that 1 set with all extras comes to about 26k yen. so at parity would be $260. however the jp yen is weak so probably quite a bit less in $

5:27 Coincidentally, at the time of this comment, Suisei is the only member in the main Japanese branch of Hololive to not have their real face known. Other members have been identified and had their history traced, while Suisei had pretty much no traceable presence outside her Hololive persona.
I feel it's because of social media. I think Suisei have really private online presence for her IRL identity
It helped that she started as Suisei before INNK/Hololive and kept her identity in the move. The only vtuber (that I'm aware of) to do that even after joining a company.

I would describe Suisei as "Talent Incarnate".
She is so good at what she does that you might be baffled that she isn't a massive mainstream celebrity at this point.

I've heard that she went solo/indie before Hololive was a thing because she was rejected by the established idol agencies for being _too talented_ as they don't want to spend the money building up the idol's image and fanbase just for them to ditch the company and go solo (since she's demonstrated the capability of being her own producer); they _want_ that "one-trick pony" that requires their support. Suisei and Hololive grew up together, so even if she decided to go back to being solo in the future, it's been a mutually beneficial relationship.

She has a full album called "Still Still Stellar" (with her first songs from 2019 up til 2021), and a second album coming out soon called "Spectre"! The company she works for is completely cool with song and album reactions BTW! some of the staff and other talents even comment.
Her first few songs (which you'd be able to tell easily on the album) are from when she used a much higher voice, and starting in 2020? she uses her deeper, more natural voice now because she was having throat/vocal chord issues as advised by her doctor

Hololive has so many great Musical Talents. You can try checking out Ayunda Risu's "Alice & U" it's another example of a singer from Hololive with stellar voice. She's not yet a fully established singer / diva like Suisei, but you can clearly see she's not losing to her in vocal department.

Suisei is one of the better singers in Hololive and that is saying something considering the number of excellent vocalists Hololive has. The only other talent they have that gets close is IRyS. As for face reveal, no Hololive member has done a face reveal while still with Hololive.

I wouldn’t say Irys is the only one, don’t discount the many talents in Hololive like Towa, Azki, Sora, Moona. They are pretty high up there with Suisei and Irys

So, a big part of the draw of Vtubers (from the perspective of the person behind the avatar) is the anonymity that it provides. While some Vtubers are fine with showing who they are, many others specifically use Vtubing as a way to avoid unwanted IRL attention. In Suisei's case, Hololive (the agency which manages her) does not allow their members to reveal their identity (in part for safety, as stalking and harassment is a serious issue). They even request that members avoid visiting their main office often, since the main office is a known location.

To answer your question: The mo-cap for her 3d model was done live, they overlay it live as well. The Hololive talents do not reveal their faces, mostly because in Japanese "Idol Culture" the fans can get a bit overzealous, and the talents want to keep their private life, private. Also, Suisei wrote the lyrics to this song, and the guy playing the guitar is the composer.
While many people are sceptical about her performance, I believe in the integrity of The First Take crews in upholding their code of conduct, and in her voice and singing skills that she has build up over the years.
The avatar can be render real time in a live production enviornment. The way it works is using motion capture just like what is done in movie production, and then the avatar's anmiations are maped to the motion capture data. The avatar isnt overlayed ontop of the actor like what is done with face filters. The scene where you see the microphone does not actually contain the actor, its just a microphone in a white room. The motion caputre along with the audio was recorded seperately and the rendered avatar from that recording was edited into the scene with the microphone.

Quite a few people have explained something of who Sui-chan is, but I've not seen anyone mention that she had surgery on her throat only a little while ago, after which she could barely speak for a month or so.
She's come so far from her days as an indie, and won't let anything keep her down. She is, as her name suggests, a star; and we couldn't be more proud of her.

0:44 if you want to know if it is generated live or not, the answer is yes. I am also amazed by the technician behind hololive. I think they use VR tracking like some of the other TH-camrs out there, but maybe with a little tweaking by their techs.

so the First Take is all about singing a song in one go and only one, so because of this many artist usually choose to warm up make sure they got the voice right and they hit those notes because its only one, but for suisei she decided to not warm up all at all she went in straight, no warm up. and with this tidbit of information it just shows how good she really is (editor's note: theres plenty more vtubers who can sing if you like besure to check em out)
The performance was done mostly by motion capture or mocap technology while the the facial recognition was done with an apple technology. So yes it was actually her just with clever technology.

A little late, but heres more background on Stellar Stellar and Suisei. Suisei is a Virtual youtuber working for Hololive Production, a Japanese based idol agency. Prior to joining Hololive, she did art for other VTubers, even rigging and drawing her own model (something almost all VTubers can not achieve.) Her story is one of rags to riches, from nobody to one of the biggest names of Japanese pop culture and VTubing, up there with Gawr Gura and Fubuki. This is what the song is about, she sings about her story to motivate her fans to do the same. Also, she was originally scouted to join Hololive's music branch, iNoNaKa music (before all hololive members started to do livestreaming) thus she has a ton of experience in music.

Long story very very short. Suisie tried to be an idol but was too talented and was rejected. She eventually joined Cover Corp and Hololive which specializes in motion trading based 2d and 3d avatars controlled by real talents. Their based in Japan and have an Indonesian and English branch.

It's not that she's too talented. Its that her skills make her a generalist and not a specialist. Basically she can do anything but isn't focused on one thing, which is what idols capitalize on, a specialty. That's why she was rejected.

Hoshimachi Suisei is a Virtual TH-camr, Vtuber for short. Vtubers are youtubers that use avatars to stream and their movements are motion captured. Basically they're a real person under that "image"
