Support the shipbuilding in Pinas. That will be dollar saving and employment for people. Import only the engines and guns.
Imo, it is in fact imperative that our shipbuilding capabilities be boosted since we're a maritime nation, an archipelago no less. I support the Filipino shipbuilders as well
Joint venture is a good way to go
The Philippines needs a local ship building program

GOD BLESS TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF BRP ALCARAZ AND TO OUR ENTIRE NAVY.
i have a suggestion, can you guys make an "a day in the life" of our servicemen from the army, air force, navy and coast guards each with their own specialization. many of us would appreciate it. and might entice some youth to serve our country. our servicemen seldom get the spotlight that they deserve..
That’s a very good idea!

a separate series perhaps.

Few months after this video was taken, BRP ramon alcaraz caught fire on its way back to the Philippines from India, Due to a leakage on the engine room. I hope the drill helped them prepared for what happened.

Hopefully you can have a chance to document the first missile frigate of the PN the BRP Jose Rizal or in the future the BRP Antonio Luna . Thnx DSTV for documenting the BRP Ramon Alcaraz.
After Del Pilar class modernization, these suggestions for cost effective next upgrades:
To reclassify as a Light Frigate:
1. Anti-air/sea missiles with MBDA Simbad Mistrial/ Sadral LMS rooftop.
2. Anti-sub with Saab ASW601 in stern.
To return as a Frigate:
3. Anti-ship intermediate range with Konsberg Penguin MLS angled behind the Ota Melaro.
4. OTH Anti-ship KDA Penguin missiles for AW 109/159’s.
GO GO PN!!

I wish our country is the leading manufacturer of its own defense machines.
It wouldn't make any difference, the Philippines lack technology and smart people. It is still a 3rd world poverty country.
I beg to disagree to you my friend, our smart guys are always ashore due to luring packages offered by companies abroad. If only our govt and politicians are not selfish Philippines maybe is as powerful as Japan at least. If we have Isko and Digong and many like them there would be a greater chances in the near 10-20 years for our country to leap its economy and technology.
@@homedefenselawrence we dont have the industry to do that, and if we do then the general population will riot due to how anti military mindset most of our filipino brotheren are
Just be thankful and just do your job to your best mga navy, magkakaroon din kau ng mas magandang kagamitan......
Nice..... It is a very capable patrol ship, and a capable future platform for more weapons......
We will be a great nation again.
I think this vessel was once equipped with Phalanx, capabilities for Anti-ship missile maybe a Harpoon canisters and an Air search Radar that was installed at aft mast. (SPS-40)

Proud our Filipinos military
Parang, ang sarap sa experience kapag nandiyan ka.
We also need logistical supply ships. C’mon the military should demand & lobby for more modernization defense budget from Congress. We are so way behind our neighbors.
Yeah, exactly. I'm more on the armored corps side and we're getting bested on that front too. We don't have a legitimate armored division with MBT's. We only have light armor ones with APC's.
Presedent duterte should make factories and make weapons
Do you guys realize we dont have the resources to make materials and were a Agriculture nation we rely on Farming
Unlike Russia
Indonesia
America
They have oil copper and iron and we dont even have those
DerpyNerdy yes unless we make one of the islands into a mine or a place to get resources.

Hopefully we got that one more Hamilton Class from the US, Fit her with at least a Phalanx CIWS, 2 quad harpoon, a hull mounted sonar and a 2x3 torpedoes.
Quite a modest upgrade.
Wag na Kung kanyon Lang din mayroon
I agree, Iets hope they will upgrade the weapon systems of the 3 Hamilton class ships asap for more capabilities.
"good" news,
the upgrades for CMS, R-ESM, HMS and other stuff was already awarded to Hanhwa.
also, PS-15 is already undergoing work to have her AN/SPS-77 installed, plus her Mk.38 Mod 3 guns.

We need more an better ones, we have to improve our country security. Those chinese may be wise enough not start a war now but will use its military power to bully its neighbor, Dont let them step on our dignity and lets not wait till they actually start a war when all we could do is complain.
Dwein :D
The Chinese should be aware that their neighboring countries hates them passionately. Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam could form a military alliance anytime that can destroy the mainland in a matter of minutes. This mega alliance doesn’t even need the assistance of NATO or US.

This ship was given by United States of America one of our no1 Allies .I was deployed in this ship in 2006 in Iraq i joined the U.S Navy in 2002 during 9-11 . We guarded the U.S.S Nimitz USS Ronald Reagan ,during its deployment in the Pacific .
If only we could have 5 more of these. How many 50 cals are there on the Ramon Alcaraz if i may ask?
The Philippine is on track to procure several more newer and more advanced warships. 3 more were delivered to the Philippines including BRP Conrado Yap and the two missile frigates that’s on its way here now. Also, the Philippine Coast Guard had acquired newer OPV’s from a french company and is undergoing sea trials now! 💪🏼
There are at least four from the last time we visited her.

Please do another video like this for the BRP Jose rizal
I laughed a bit at the part were Capt. Marayag made use of a basketball court as a description on how long the ship is. Reminds me of what the football field that Americans use when visualizing length.
grss1982 That’s exactly what we were aiming for, lol! I think the conversion is:
1 football field = 3 basketball courts

Hopefully someone will lobby for the last 2 remaining USCG Hamilton class cutters via fms priority transfer to the Philippines and extra Wmecs to be decom. and the secondary is not a CIWS its only a RCWS.

The Philippine Armed Forces should be self sufficient, we need to learn how to make warships.
Agree, we have the shipyards already and abundant in raw materials. Even we can't match the foreign-made, little by little we can develop it by the features we got from the new ones we acquired abroad, and multiply our inventory. Indonesia are making their own, why can't we.
