About the hardest classical piece thing: It really depends. If you take into account playing on bass guitar, anything like very polyphonic piano literature will be basically impossible. Check out Brahms op 118 No. 5 (Romanze). You basically have a bass line, a countermelody and a two voices in duett. Then of course any complex orchestral piece will be out of question (Let’s say some Strawinsky &c.). But if you’re looking for something doable, check out virtuos literature for string instruments like violin (Ernst, Paganini, &c.), or two part piano literature like inventions by Bach.

Mind-Blowing
You should get a Chapman Stick. You’re basically already playing your bass like one.
Awesome video as usual!
Trevor Andersen I’ve been asking why he, Davie504 who has tons of really stupid basses...Why are these guys not getting a Chapman Stick. I have one of the original models I bought in 1983. Now they have many different models, and you can even get a synth pickup installed by them on whichever six strings you want and connect to a GR-55 guitar/synth unit! I put on the Roland pickup on my Stick and now I can sounds like an entire band without looping. Each string can be one instrument like drums or flute, or each string can be assigned to a different sound plus the natural sound of the strings not over the synth pickup. Davie might not want one because he prefers to slap, but Charles in an incredible tapper. Only thing I can guess thy no one does is because the tuning and how you physically play a Stick is unlike any other electric stringed instrument. Drove me crazy for two years while I was trying to teach myself. No TH-cam in 1983, but I bought the original tutorial book, plus the Emmett Chapman DVD showing him playing and a short tutorial at the end. In bands, I used to play the bass parts with my left hand and keyboards with my right along with Taurus pedals with my feet. Yes, I loved how Geddy used to play two at a time. Crazy me, I played three instruments at the same time because I’m a Masochist. LOL.
Simply: you don’t support a humongous pleb as Rob Chapman is. The end.
Nevermind.. i now looked up what a Chapman stick is 🙃😂
My thoughts exactly! He would make a great stick player :)

I will admit to having to google who wrote the trio from pomp and circumstance. this Edward Elgar guy is like John Philip Sousa era....
speaking of which.... when will be able to hear the great Marches of J. P. Sousa on BASS?
keep up the awesome videos charles! :D
While your right that Elgar came at backend of the romantic era (born only five years before Debussy!) and lived well into the 20th century he is very much a romantic. I'd put Elgar in the same boat af Rachmaninov; while their dates don't line up in a way that easily fits into the predefined artistic eras their work is so overwhelmingly romantic that they can be asigned to it without difficulty. This is more necessary for Rach than Elgar mind as he was very much the last bastion of romanticism. Also if we wanna be really technical then almost none of these are actually classical era composers. Bach and Vivaldi are baroque and Elgar, Grieg, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov are all romantic. Plus myself and many scholars consider the bridging Beethoven to be a truer romantic than classicist :D
I second the Sousa shout though!
