      You know all the Cop chases California highways ... I am seeing a video in my mind of Cops chasing bank robbers on one of these and just as the cops have the spike strips laid down and high way blocked 3/4 mile in front ...the Car takes to the air! ;)
      The funny thing is ... That WILL happen ...everything we can imagine is simply a matter of time

      It really isn't a flying car. It's a plane that you can drive on the road. You have to drive it to an airport to fly, so once there it is a plane. It isn't a real flying car until you can take off from your house and land at your destination. This has to takeoff and land at an airport. It is 30 minutes to the nearest airport to takeoff, and 40 minutes from the nearest airport to where I work. Throw in flight time and it would be an 1-1/2 hour commute. I can drive to work in 25 minutes. I already have a private pilot certificate. This isn't practical at all. I can drive my car to the airport, then rent one after I land.

      Wait a second. The Terrafugia was also nice when it was a prototype. Then they realized that they had to meet a lot of regualtions to make it legally airworthy as an LSA (light sport airplane) and legally roadworthy as a car. And it became ugly. Flying cars and roadable planes are always bad cars and bad planes.

    • @alyiga

    • @alyiga
      @alyiga 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adb012 I understand the main purpose of putting a plane on a road is to improve flexibility and minimise airport storage charges. Though again planes like the Icon A5 would be adequate without the complexity of making a 2 in 1 vehicle. I like how this looks now and I hope it goes go the way of the Terrafugia. I hope battery technology catches up and we could see electric variants too

    • @adb012
      @adb012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alyiga ... The whole idea of the concept is door-to-door transportation. Even with a plane that you can park in your garage and tow on a trailer, that would leave your car in the departure airport and no car in the destination airport. If this model ever gets certified I very much doubt it will look as good as it looks now. It may still serve its purpose of being a bad plane and a bad car that however is able to take you door-to-door combining air and ground mode, which is something that neither good planes or good cars can do.

      It's not a car. It is a plane with folding wings. Did you notice how they never showed it driving like a regular car? Making turns, breaking, accelerating, climbing up a hill, making a u-turn? It never happened. Because it's not a car! And it has such poor maneuverability, that it's not worth even looking at. That's why they show only "flying" part, and never "driving" part, because driving it this this thing just sucks.

      @@edc9957 Good observation but doesn't answer my question where I refer to the "moment of landing".
      Considering the shape of the vehicle, I'm curious to see how the body is not damaged as you can see the tires are merely sticking out from the body (Check 55 seconds).

      the main use would be long distance travel between places that don't have any roads or public transit connecting them but have runways close to them
      because it's not worth it if it only saves you like 2-3 hours to fly while using a lot more fuel than just driving

Obviously we would all love to fly our car to the driveway at the house, the problem is imagine 5 folks on your street have one - and same for he next block over - now imagine rush hour - no way that will happen without a computer system, probably managed by some government agency, controlling all aspects of everyone’s flight. So you end up putting in request for destination - the system figures out a safe flight path, takes control of your vehicle and delivers you. Safe - yes, actually do able - probably in the near future, boring - yes, cool or fun - nope.

    Amazing invention. Sad part is since it's not an American based company they will give it a very hard time to give it an air worthiness license unless it's major share is bought by some American company. Because US needs to be the pioneers in everything. When you cannot invent just buy the company by coercing them.
    Im glad that this is a reality ❤❤❤❤

    The cost of this vehicle takes it out of the market for average consumer. It 's main purpose is to push the technology forward. Not a negative. We will never get there without these prototypes. The road to everyday flying cars is generations away. But i say keep pushing and we will get there.

    The propeller will need more protection drom dust particles on road operation. Since the boundary layers are to be well managed, aerodynamic performance can't be compromised by topological discontinuities in the propeller due to wear and tear. Increased drag will make flow turbulent and will reduce the fuel efficiency since the propeller will have to work harder to generate thrust. Although this is a good idea but fixed-wing configuration is not as convenient as rotor-crafts when it comes to versatility in various kinds of applications. This is good for leisure and hobbyists and will end up as a luxury item.

    • @sheriffadebogun7924

    • @TopCornerFacts
      @TopCornerFacts 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sheriffadebogun7924 I did not criticize but shared my opinion. I don't think anyone can design the whole thing alone. We need all kinds of engineers to build something like this. I'm just a fluid mechanics engineer and study and work on aeroacoustics in rotor-craft technology. These projects are multi-disciplinary so many experts from many fields are required. A mechanical engineer responsible for the design and upkeep of the propeller knows nothing about the complexity of the flight control system and likewise it will be difficult for an electronics engineer to comprehend about the working of the propulsion system. I hope you got the point.
