- We got to drive BMW and TYDE's brand-new futuristic flying yacht 'The Icon'! It's one of the most futuristic boats ever made with an interior that's taken straight from a VIP lounge.
Best of all, it can literally fly above the water when it reaches 18 knots! It even features sound design from legendary composer Hans Zimmer, to go with the extremely smooth ride as you fly across the sea.
It's the definition of a luxury watercraft and we had a lot of fun taking it for a spin!

The efficiency is impressive , but it's more like a water taxi than a yacht ....
That's not efficient only 60 miles for one charge. That's like me towing 5 thousand pounds with a new Ford F-150 Lightning. Has incredible abilities but no endurance what so ever.
I was going to say it’s utterly pointless but you’re right, it might work as a posh water taxi or perhaps a tender for a much bigger actual yacht

I actually think this is a great concept. Good for someone who maybe doesn't want a full on yacht with cabins and staterooms but wants something they can spend a day on the water in. It desperately needs a small bathroom and a minimal kitchenette though.
That's called niche and doesn't sell because you don't want to know how much this shit iron costs

Many years ago I built a R/C hydrofoil. Everything was fixed in place and it actually worked if you kept the speed "just right". 😁
Everything on hydrofoil is amazing, sailboat on hydrofoil can run up tp 90kmh is very impresive thing
If you work hard enough.You'll be able to afford a fleet of these things. Or at least that's what they told me at the job orientation.

I took a hydrofoil ferry from Copenhagen to Malmo in 1971, so this "flying" concept has been around for a while

I remember as a kid my grandmother paying for her three grandchildren to visit her in Belgium for the Holidays; St Katherine's Dock Pier return to Zeebrugge by a Boeing Jetfoil, back in '77-78. Travelling down the Thames, picking up speed once in the estuary and across the Channel. Fantastic experience. Jetfoil, Hydrofoil and now E-Foil - Looking forward to this technology becoming more widely available. It really is an exhilarating way to travel.

That craft is a nautical, architectural & technological work of fine art. It's utterly gorgeous!
Seeing as how this craft is an EV, I wonder if wrap manufacturing companies have figured out how to make entire wraps that are actually solar panels?
This way, the entire surface area of the craft itself would be the recharging system, which could provide for an amazing daytime operation capability.

what is luxury about it? Fact you have no toilet? No bar, no kitchen, no shading from sun (which is super needed at open sea), no swimming pool, its literly a water tour bus with comfy chairs..

VERY cool, but it doesn't look like there's any kind of galley for lunching/munching on your outing, or even restrooms (that I could see), so not sure how practical it would be, but future possibilities are endless I suppose. Curious about the price too, lol.
Munching is for obese poor people. The upper classes are thin and healthy.
I was kinda thinking the same thing. Man, I would hate to get to my fishing spot and need a restroom and one isn't available. That would suck for me, because I'm always needing a restroom whenever I'm out on the water.
Not cool at all to have ladies peeing on a bucket, or overboard out of a window. Plus no fishing, no diving...just lots of salty glass cleaning
What do you expect, the thing was designed by a car maker! Next thing to come are on water boat washing stations and charging stations with McDonalds, toilets etc.

Big fan of all the chrome in the interior, lots of angles to catch direct line of sight with the sun out on the water and get blinded.

You say that like almost all boats don't already use electricity.
A simple circuit breaker would be alot easier to engineer than the lighting. EV's are already way ahead. My concern is the need for a generator when emergency power is needed to get back home.

I think, that it needs solar panels everywhere that they could put them. Water driven electricity generators wherever they could put them would also cork a treat as would wind driven ones.

Perfect for cruising inland waters such as the Miami River, Florida canals, and New York Bay. However, it seems unsuitable for passing through Haulover inlet or cruising on the open ocean.

Navier's electric hydrofoil boat, the Navier 30, is America's first electric hydrofoil boat. The boat can rise off the surface at about 17 miles per hour and stands on three struts.

I wonder how well it does with striking wildlife like manatees, dolphin, whales. I imagine it's so quiet wildlife has no idea it's even in the area to get clear in time.

My dad has been driving everything from 30ft cigarette boats to 60ft yachts for as long as i can remember. He would tell you this takes everything away from actually driving a boat. The point us to be in the sunshine and have a cabin when you want it. This is a floating living room. The more tech you put in these things , the more that ends up going wrong. Especially in salt water i wouldn't want everything to be electric. Maybe that's just me. When it comes to electric cars and so on we are putting the cart before the horse. The grid would collapse if everyone went electric, California is a great example of this. Rolling brown outs before electric cars were even on the roads.

The most expensive pontoon boat I've ever seen and don't think about keeping it for long because lithium and water isn't a good idea, for the people who say "but the batteries are sealed from the water " you haven't been on the water for long but if you need to be ostentatious it's perfect

funny because this is way more sketchy than your fiberglass v-hulls. if one of those foils underneath clips a shallow spot this whole thing does a somersault and you’re trapped in a cage of broken glass
