I don't know why, but it always left an impression on me as a kid. The dark sky. The city in the background, Shao Kahns tower in the middle of the city. It's the best city stage in the series in my opinion. Better than even the ones in MK9

I think it's just generic honestly. "Oh no *insert character here* blew up/ripped off my arms better get cyber implants". I like the old version better because it was Jax's choice, he was the one that felt it was a necessity, since his superiors wouldn't believe him, and he took matters into his own hands, literally.

Not until UMK3. Ermac wasn't in vanilla MK3, and by the time UMK3 came out they added Scorpion back in as well.
The only secret character in vanilla MK3 was Cyber Smoke.

I remember that in the first moments of the release of MK3, my friends swore to me that this cyborg yellow ninja was Scorpion in disguise ... they could not conceive that Scorpion was not there, hallucinated with him.
Team One Piece Mugen OS agreed. Also “Soul Chamber” with the spinning soulnado left an impression on me as a kid. The stage transitions with uppercuts also were amazing for the time. MK3 was monumental for me growing up in the 90’s.

I feel that mk3 and SF3 and the alphas played a HUGE role in why ppl love to rush in fighting games nowadays rather than learn neutral

The reason why there's a lot of original characters excluded from MK1/2 to MK3 is because of royalty lawsuits, and they had to recast everyone

The reason Johnny Cage doesn't have the split punch for his appearance in MK Trilogy is because they didn't do any animations for the groin hit.
Liu Kang as well, Ho Sung Pak left after MK2 and was replaced with Eddie Wong in MK3
UMK3 added Scorpion, Reptile, Kitana, Jade and had the secret characters Classic Sub Zero, Mileena and Ermac. Also, Smoke wasn't hidden like in Vanilla. It also added some other new stuff.
Human Smoke was also in there.

Sal wasn't the inspiration for Mokap, Carlos Pesina was, he played Rayden in MK1 and 2 and did the motion capture for Deadly Alliance and Deception
I played this so much on my genesis. I just remember being so disappointed that the move list wasn't in the manual and of course the lack of Scorpion.

Scorpion was originally not included in the arcade cabinet version he was placed in the console versions of umk3 and trilogy instead due to popular demand... Shinnok was also considered to be in this title but was omitted in the final cut then reintroduced in Mortal Kombat 4 (Mortal Kombat Gold via Sega Dreamcast)
And yet Scorpion become the most iconic mk character and one of the most iconic video game characters ever and you will never see a main mk game release without Scorpion and sub zero

I thought trilogy was mk3 when it came out. I didn't know mk3 existed and wasn't trilogy until last year.
Trilogy came out a year after MK3 & UMK3.
UMK3 is a Classic for me (tough i'll always like 1 and 2 More) and by The Time i knew of Trilogy's existence...i didnt care about it because i was playing Deception AND Armageddon

No one talks about how the PC port was actually the best home version of this game. It was a perfect translation of the arcade version. This was true for all of them until the PS2 era.

In this game, the ninjas are replaced by cyborgs, which Scorpion is not in this game until Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 & Sub-Zero is no longer a ninja sence he left the Lin Kuei.

Actually, MK3 and UMK3 on the Genesis weren't bad at all as far as the Genesis goes. They did what they could with the hardware. Today, of course, it's easy to be negative about it. But back then it was alright. Also, on the Genesis, going from MK1 to MK3 you can actually see the progression in the ports in terms of overall quality; it shows how the hardware was better understood by the time they ported MK3 and UMK3 because to be honest those two games play better than MK1 and MK2 ports. I do like the MK1 port on the Genesis, but MK2 was already a better port and so was MK3 compared to MK2. The only one that doesn't show much progress is UMK3.
Considering the hardware in the Genesis and seeing how it plays that well to me is a sign that they understood the important parts of it: the gameplay. It plays smoothly and fast enough to be enjoyable. It's a good thing that they didn't try to squeeze too much visuals in which would have crippled the gameplay in a heartbeat. They even managed to keep the stage transitions in, pretty amazing all things considered.

Cyber smoke, shao kahn, and motaro you could play as in this game if you put in the code at the homescreen. However UMK3 added a lot of characters which were missing, but the fatalities and such were lacking for some characters.

MK Trilogy 64 has exclusive fatalities for Motaro and Shao Khan. Also has the best version of subzero in all the games.
@@Alex_Logan22 They cut unmasked sub-zero and gave the original Sub-Zero a combined moveset of both characters making him the most fun he's ever been.
@@Alex_Logan22 You can use the ice puddle and ice clone together. Then on top of that you could use ice rain. Ice rain on N64 version has different inputs so you could manually aim it according to screen distance.

I’m glad I had the Sega Genesis version of MK3 and N64 ver. of MK Trilogy. Loading screens a pain.
I played SNES version of this and the last time i remember Sektor's missile flies straight, instead of flying around and homing in.
Also my brother did the same thing with Sheeva vs Motaro
This was the first classic mortal kombat that I got the chance to play with someone who also enjoys MK, I rage quit once I heard my friend praise the game for scorpions absence, I instantly severed all ties with that person, I regret nothing.
