- DRAMATIC scenes unfolded as over-excited football fans rushed the barriers at Wembley just hours before England's clash with Italy.
Ticketless England fans managed to jump the perimeter walls of Wembley Stadium ahead of the Euro 2020 final.
The security breach was confirmed by officials shortly before half-time in the match against Italy.
Eager Three Lions supporters pushed past barricades as cops desperately tried to stop the wave of supporters.
Group of fans making a mad dash towards the security barriers and attempting to gain access to the stadium.
Some stadium staff claimed “hundreds” of supporters were involved in knocking down or climbing over perimeter fencing at about 5.30pm.
SunSport witnessed dozens of fans, including children, sprinting across the concourse at the lowest level of the stadium at the top of Wembley Way.
Police officers were called in to help find and eject the invaders.
Fan Gary Mason, a 23-year-old plasterer from Leytonstone, East London said: “It’s bedlam here.
“There are hundreds of fans without tickets trying the crash their way and police and security are struggling to cope.”

1000% agree. I worked security outside for the game. It was a nightmare. The issues are two-fold. First is the open area leading up to the stairs that you see people running over. It's so open that a large push of great numbers isn't stoppable; since another 20,000 or so people where all along Wembley way too. Better, bigger barriers and more security needed to be in place.
Much more importantly is how the people actually got into the stadium itself. Once you go up the stairs (that you see many running up in this video) you are not inside of wembley yet. I won't disclose how, but the way they got in absolutely needs to be addressed immediately.
People pushing past security to walk around outside of Wembley is one thing. Actually getting in, is the real threat. We where not prepared that day whatsoever and it simply isn't good enough.
Wembley Stadium and the Metropolitan police between them, are ultimately responsible for the disgusting events at the Final.
This is The UK in 2021. People just do what they want without any fear of reprisals. A generation of people who were never told NO!

Private security fails 100% with no authority to do anything.
I'm in the security industry and unfortunately alot of the 'security' you saw at Wembley are just marshalls with no training and aren't allowed to restrain anybody and probably wouldn't know how anyway. And the alot of the ones who are capable and are SIA trained are just there for easy money and won't do anything either.

@@highstakes1235 actually no the new SIA training now is much harder than it was in 2019 but the new guidelines for all front line SIA security officers now are trained to an high standard because of the new rules brought in this year.
