No kidding! We’re building drawers for our truck bed and used HD wood. It required so much imagination to get the boards remotely close to straight. The best is when you’re running one of these boards on a table saw and the wood catches the blade because of how much free warping it does. Seems criminal to sell such low quality wood.
I stumbled across this tonight while browsing. I actually built one a couple years ago with the same size totes. My mistake was using 2x6's and it was to heavy. I really enjoyed watching this series. I watched all of them in one sitting. Like streaming a favorite TV show. Thanks for the content.
This is the first of your videos I've watched and I am hooked. Thank you for a family friendly video and for giving thanks for the meal and your day. I will watch your future videos and catch up on past ones. Thank you.
You could try like a sidecar idea for a boat to fit in. Like on the starboard or port side you can build out an extension with a cutout for the bow of a boat to settle in. Not only will it serve as a dock for your boat but instead of just dragging the raft/float the boat has something to push against for hopefully more control and better transfer of energy.
Great job! Very cool! I built one similar to this (Much smaller, just for day trips on a pond). I added a couple of access holes to the deck, so I can store gear in the totes, and save space up too. Again, this is much smaller, and not meant for week long excursions.
That is where the 55 gallon barrels would be an advantage. Not free, but usually $10-15. That is the cost of two totes, but each tote is what, 15gal/60qt. Twice as much boyancy for the price and a LOT more durable. But, this is the "every person's raft" that can be built from off the shelf components, so that is cool too.
Actually the staples of survival are pretty rigid. 3, 3, 3: you can survive about 3 hours in a harsh environment without shelter, you can survive about 3 days without water, and you can survive about 3 weeks without food. How you accomplish it, absolutely, creativity is essential, but practicality DEFINITELY has a purpose in individual survival, even if it's simple stuff like knowing how to sacrifice a shoestring to make a bow drill for starting fire (or just keep a lighter on you)
The usual procedure to have a floating platform with containers floaters is to fill the containers with a kind of styrofoam that is sold on hardware stores for that purpose. It's liquid and it expands in contact with the air and makes the inside of the containers totally water-proof.
@@christianbostic514 Not at all. There are actually pontoon sprays like that that cost around 100$ per two galons. Two galons can make Several of those pontoons filled.
