While you may listen to this song and say wow. If you have lived this song it takes on a whole new dimension. You have to ask yourself , have YOU screamed like a panther? That aside what an incredible performance.
Willie transported the audience to another world. A world where the myth of the frontier west meets the lyrical mastery of the man who embodied outlaw country.
His was an earnest approach to songwriting and performance; his simple nature was deceiving because even though Willie was about as common as folk can be, that made him radically uncommon in the world of big money and big music.~
Beautifully said. He combined storytelling, lyrical imagery, great old school arrangements and his own incredible voice. Modern representatives of our culture like him only come a few in a generation
Very true except for one thing: you are talking about him in the past tense and TG WIllie still IS all that, and he still combines all that and gives us his wisdom too!
The Redheaded Stranger is the greatest country album EVER. It’s also one of the best concept albums EVER!!! If you disagree you’re just wrong.

The first time I smoked thc concentrate I passed out on the couch and listened to red headed stranger. My first truck had the red headed stranger in the cd player 90% of the time. I fell into this in the late 1980s when it was used in "Edge of Darkness". Much use of the pause button on my VCR led me to buy the whole album. 30+ years since I bought it, it is still a masterpiece - from a rock lover.

It was about this same timeframe that I saw him live. It was at the first annual Keen Radio music festival. It was in San Jose at the Santa Clara Fair Grounds. Willie had his beard, and wore a red, white and blue bandana on his head. It was my favorite act of the festival.

So i was watching the show Preacher and on episode 10 there was a second verse to this song that i cant fine. The lyrics: but he could not forgive her.... tho he tried and tried.... but the holes in his memory still echoes arise. Wish i could find the whole song or if it was an unused verse thay the show got. Anyone help out?
