that sound from the CP when it first enters is so cool. is that sort of distortion straight from the unit or was there a bit of processing somewhere?
also, how do you like the iridium? have you used it much yet? (this is also on my wishlist lol)

I'm just using the internal effects on the CP. They're really nice right?

And yeah I've used the iridium a lot. It's an extraordinarily deep synth and super complex, but the interface is still really fun to use. If you've never tried a quantum or an iridium, I definitely recommend it!

@@AlisonWilder it sounds like i need to explore my CP a bit more! i'll have to see if my local guitar center has those waldorfs on display. i did get to try out arturia's latest polybrute a couple months ago... the interface looks stunning, but a little overwhelming for me at the moment. i'm sure the sound shaping capabilities are extraordinary for all these units.

yeah, I'm really into the CP! Makes me want to try out the other Refaces. Honestly, I think the Reface CS could be amazing in this setup. (The CS-15 was my first synth, and I currently have a CS-15D, and I'm a big CS/Yamaha fan.) The Iridium is REALLY deep, for sure. I'm definitely not an expert Iridium programmer yet, and I've had it for awhile. But it sounds SO stinkin' good.

@@AlisonWilder wow first time i've heard someone talk of a CS15 or 15D. i had to look it up and it looks like classic vintage stuff! someone had mentioned the CS80 to me a while back but i figured it was only because the reface CS was inspired from it. i still wonder why yamaha left the analog market (presumably it was getting crowded?)
the CS is the first synth i ever bought for myself and will always remain in my heart for that reason! i've recorded a lot with it on my channel, but i've been doing a lot more with the CP lately. based on what i've heard from your videos so far, i definitely think you will love adding the CS to dial in quick leads and even mess around with the LFO in real-time if you wanted. it's incredibly accessible to anyone and its only drawback is it's not necessarily deep in sound design as other competitors in its "weight class" like the minilogue xd, hydrasynth, or minifreak, BUT i'm sure the iridium and other synths on that rack have you covered in that department lol.
while i've used it the least of the reface family, the DX would also be a solid choice for pads or leads - they would just have to be pre-programmed. i mean, i could see the simultaneous addition of live pads and leads here 😁
