seems a strange restriction. you can download it for free from the website. www.sweethome3d.com/download.jsp. I used the free version in this video. If you download furniture from www.sweethome3d.com/importModels.jsp, you can just drag and drop it into the SH3D furniture panel
Thanks for this video. What do you mean when you say "tap" a wall up or down (or sideways) a bit? Use arrow keys?
use the arrow keys on your keyboard. Select an object in the top down view, and then move it a bit by tapping the keys.

I want to do a plan of our block with house on it, a pool and detached dwelling. Have you done this?
It can be done. Create a project with a template house, export it as OBJ (3Dview menu). Create a second project, import the house (furniture menu), and use it like a furniture. SW does not accept negative elevations, but pools can be resumed to blue rectangles. SweetHome is very fast to understand and learn, and allows to build very quick plans. It has many flaws when it comes to mm precision of dimensions, but if you can accept 50cm mistakes it's the most portable and fastest app for a quick plan.

Hi, how did you do that furniture preview menu in the top left-hand corner, where you search by typing the furniture you need under all categories and you get the miniatures of the furniture u can choose from? In other videos I've seen of sweet home people have only a menu with a list and they have to click through different categories.

The 2 doors in the middle of the dwelling are backwards. When you open them you walk into the middle wall. The doors should both open onto the middle wall respectively which allows you to walk into the room proper, and not into the wall along the edge of the room as you enter the room - which is the way you placed them in the layout - and there's an opening in the wall between the rooms which actually puts you in the other room as you walk in with the doors the way they are. Simply move the opening in the wall down and leave space to allow the doors of both rooms to open onto the middle wall..
In this demo, I see you IMPORT an existing file, which I donot have, as I just installed the program.
I would really like to DRAW FROM SCRATCH an area of 8m X 50m (the terrain I bought) and ON IT, start drawing my house, without importing another drawing... Thank you or anyone who could help-advise in this matter !

I hate it so much when they mount the paper roll BEHIND you, when there is a perfectly good wall on a side. It's done like that in most hotels, so frustrating.

ok i have 2 things i dont understand:
1. I have a floor plan in pdf form (which I can just convert to png or jpeg or just screenshoot it to get a png file that's usable in this Sweet Home 3D app to import as a background image). The plan, though, simply says that the scale is "1:50", so that (I guess) means that each centimeter in the plan corresponds to 50cm in reality. BUT the problem is that there is no "ruler" anywhere on the plan... So how do I know how to draw a scaling line from point A to point B so that the SH3D app can import it in scale to the furniture pieces (whose dimensions I know) I want to then add to the plan in scale to the plan's real scale?? It doesnt make any sense...
2. Then, after I've (somehow) set the image's scale, the SH3D app asks you to "set the origin point of the image in plan by clicking at its location" in the image... What is the "origin point"??
The origin point is where you want 0,0 to be on the plan view. It can be wherever you want, but most common to leave it at top left of your diagram. With your scaling issue, it sounds like it's a case of trial and error.
short question: is there a hot key for switching between 3d view and 2d view.?

not really, but 'crtl-alt-y' toggles between 3d view in a separate window or docked in main window.

Hi Sean, is there a way to flatten and make a 2D floorplan?
im not really sure what you mean. the plan view is top down 2d. or do you mean, flatten the 3d model so that it creates a squashed version of it? Or do you mean orthographic mode in 3d view.
@@sbcode to make a floorplan, similar to what you see in realestate brochures
in the file->preferences, you have options to change the presentation of the top down plan view. You can then screengrab or also export as svg. You will need to experiment to get it close to the way you want.

it's written in java, so you may be able to get it to run on android devices, but I'm not sure, sorry.

Ноw could I make walls gauzy?
in the 3d view, right click, select 'Modify 3d View', then slide the 'Walls transparency' slider half way, and then press ok. Walls are now gauzy.

There is a quick way to create rooms in 1s: double click inside them. Please add a tip in the youtube video.

File->Preferences->Unit, changes how most measurements are displayed throughout the application, but it doesn't appear to affect the room dimensions. maybe in a newer update it will.

Useless software - Sweet Home 3D does not measure from corner to corner, but from middle of the wall to middle of the wall - stupid aproach for planing my furnitures, because I live within the wall and not inside walls
