Blackburn Cathedral second Organ Composition Competition winning entries

It's not every day that one gets to premiere four new pieces and it was great fun getting to know the winning and runner up entries in our second composition competition at Blackburn Cathedral.
Here are the first performances of the two winning entries - both based on the Veni Creator plainsong and written by junior winner, Thomas Coldrick and senior winner, Graham Twist.

My goodness, what a quality in compositions, performance and sound. I’m happy for both composers but especially for Graham. And not only for him, for us all. Because… now he can’t deny any longer that he is an excellent composer who writes both interesting and beautiful music. Personally I’m more into his more meditational compositions, but he certainly masters this style as well!
