Thank you for articulating all of this. I don't know why people can't understand this. People really don't want to face or accept that the constitution is only a document at this point, it's not the law of the land and hasn't truly been since the civil war.
Regardless of what religion either man may be I long ago stopped giving them my time and my distrust in both of them are on the scale of a Jonathan Cahn or any other fraud that are constantly prophesying about things that have not come true.
I agree with all this. I once had the same line of thinking myself, that the constitution was going to safeguard us and fight all of our battles. That the left could only do so much because of the constitution etc. The left always knew the importance of true power and influence., and most importantly, actually winning.
Beck has bothered me for a long time. I listen to him only occasionally these days. I always felt that there was something "off" with him; I have never believed that he is being genuine or totally truthful. At heart, I think he is a businessman, although admittedly he often uses his "business" for good things, humanitarian purposes. But he is definitely not, despite all claims to the contrary, to be believed to be a true, regenerated, Biblical Christian, based upon his explanations of what he believes to be essential doctrines of the Christian faith. As he always puts it, he is just a member of another denomination, which is not widely accepted by most evangelicals. He would never admit to the doctrines, on air, of his denomination. But he drops names a lot, Billy Graham, etc. of those by whom he desperately wants to be accepted as a brother in Christ. He often had or still has genuine Christians on his show. I always wonder what they must truly think. But to the point, I have always mistrusted him, and he has never given me cause to do otherwise. I wish you, Jon, or someone would do a deep dive into Glenn Beck concerning his claims of being a true Christian and his politics. This is a great start to that!
Great video. I’m personally of the belief that states should start passing extremely conservative legislation in a way that would turn any progressive leftist voter away from moving there. Those states should defy the federal governments wicked laws at every turn.
Important to keep in mind that revolutionary doesn’t automatically mean, fighting to create a fundamentally more egalitarian society. Being a revolutionary just means to try and fundamentally up-end a current society. Which in and of itself is always inherently destabilizing and dangerous, regardless of what direction it tries to go in.
I stopped listening to EE years ago. He’s a total turn off! Another bloviating talking head! Listen to his radio talk show…Christian? I think not! I think many conservative Atlantans have his number.
So basically. Don’t build a wall or put a gate on your property because someone may get inside and then you’re stuck trying to figure out how to get in.
I always thought, America cant be all that bad, they never tried to overtake Canada since 1812, but maybe things may change, it's not like Canada could do much about it. I realize this isnt the topic but l have never seen the world, especially the West and more specifically North America in more uncertain times, nor more depraved and l've been around since the 1960s. And as a Canadian l think Canada is more subtly depraved the the US. And so many here supposed Christians dont even recognize the depravity. Very troubling times, and l feel for our young people.
I don't think either side really has a "way out" for America's predicament, but Beck's obsession with "the DOCUMENTS!" seems... low intelligence. Has he paid any attention the last 10 years?
The Old guard learned how to make their MILLIONS and they just keep repeating it all. It's really really cringe to see this. Both of them in their beautifully constructed studios but with no arguments.
The preamble to the U.S. Constitution includes the words "...secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..." by which they meant their physical descendants. It wasn't meant for everyone. As a Mormon, Glenn Beck presumably believes that the U.S. Constitution is divinely inspired (it must be, since it's in the Donald Trump Bible). In 1887, Congress passed the Texas Seed Bill, to deliver $10,000 of aid to purchase seed grain for farmers after a major drought in Texas. President Grover Cleveland vetoed the law because he couldn't find anything in the Constitution to warrant such an act by the federal government. No President today would dare do that (see, e.g., "Bush, George W.," "Hurricane Katrina relief").
What's a drought doing in 1887? If we have a drought today, it's proof of climate change, and they didn't have climate change back in the 1800s, did they?! (Sarcasm)
I’m sure the libs will give Glen the papers to see him leave, they hate these papers, will burn them anyway! It seems indeed we are coming to a point where the liberal and conservative visions can’t live under the same roof. A national separation would be a reasonable option. We are now seeing this in a smaller scale: counties in Oregon trying to move to Idaho, a city in Louisiana split in two.
Is there any chance you could watch some socialist content and evaluate it from a Christian perspective. The Party for Socialism and Liberation and the Revolutionary Communists of America have tons of content. And young people are joining up and following these groups. It's great to critique Erikson and Beck, but they are not influencing younger people--our future leaders.
It's hard to tell, for instance, how many "contraband " "slaves" died in the federal "contraband camps", as records were pretty spotty, if they were kept. It's hard to know how many died of disease, etc, in the wrecked areas, we have anecdotes of "fugitive colonies" etc that managed to survive the war itself yet ravaged by disease afterwards...
My recollection of what I read is that the emancipated were particularly hardest hit, more than freedmen from during or before the conflict.. even some "abolitionists " knew many slaves were not ready , kind of foreshadowing, if you will, that many Rhodesians argued the "equality" the communists wanted instantly, but many of the "tribal" sort weren't used to that sort of Jeffersonian, Anglo Saxon legal tradition kind of thing...
Jon, I never caught what your solution is. I think the right thing is the government needs disemboweling not just containment. It would take that to get it back to the constitution. The problem is what would maintain that, since we already see that in a very short time you had Lincoln completely disregard it or the rights of individuals in favor of the supreme power of the state. So where do you stand on that? Are you advocating for conservative increasing the power of government when they are in power, because it sure seemed that's what you were saying. On Beck and Erickson. I like Beck when he sticks to core principles. The thing is he gets off those principles in chaotic tantrums all the time. BTW: He loves Lincoln. Erickson I know because I'm in his home market. That guys conservative in the same way as Castro. Ok, so I exaggerate, but I don't know a single conservative in Atlanta that doesn't wretch at his name. What a total phony. Seems like his never Trump stance in 2016 and 2020 would be a give away. He would say he supported Trump in 2020, but every single time he could he was torpedoing him on air. I consider him a traitor on steroids like all those never Trump neocons.
@Deathbytroll Sadly the crown of 2024 exhibits the same clown world of leftist values of their perverse politicians/media puppets. See AlistairWilliams is banned for details.
I took him to be me is just stating that as far as America is concerned the constitution might as well not be a part of it because it is not used for the benefit of its citizens. He probably loves it, but he is not afraid to say it isn't working. That's important to say in my opinion. Consequently, don't put energy into looking for it to save your posterior or your posterity. You can help people break into the archives to find it, but when you find it don't be surprised that the batteries are dead.
I think you and folks like Erick talk past each other by conflating “growing” the government and using power. Several times, you inserted “using power” where Erick said “growing the government”. Now, growing the government is a use of power and does increase the power of the government, but there’s a way to wield power that limits and checks government. Javier Milei is a good modern example. I am all for using power, but the not the way the left does. Believing we have to play the game exactly how the left plays it is a huge black pill because we all know where it leads -it’s just a matter of biding time. If I bought into that line of thinking, I’m more inclined to think Ericks approach would bide more time than yours.
Erick's approach has failed. He basically thinks if we don't wield power beyond getting the gov't out of things, it will be better. It won't, not when every institution is captured by the Left. There is not marketplace of ideas. If that were the case, homosexual marriage, transgenderism, etc. would have been DOA. There is no such thing as a totally free economic market. Instead we have a hollowed out industrial base. His thinking is close to mystical. If we just walk away from it all and remove the gov't, it will al work out. How has that worked out? Either we use power to enforce a certain worldview, or we have today. BTW, enforcing a certain worldview does not necessarily mean a dictatorial dystopia (which we are heading towards anyways), but it does mean stating that certain things are non-negotiable.

SMH. That "sacred scroll" mentality is the KJO of the political world. 😄
Didn't Beck "balkanize" himself to Texas?
4:47 1 million black slaves starved after the Civil War? Where is the source?
I think he misremembered that one. 😉
It happens! 🤷🏼♂️
