“Once you got a theory of how the thing works everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first.” This is a reference to their fans who were crazy about their first album, Hybrid Theory, but then complained about nearly every album after that due to their sound gradually changing over time. There’s always been a group of people would worship Hybrid Theory but trash everything outside of that album and it’s always been strange to me. I like to think Linkin Park has a little bit of everything for everyone.
@@krogan3760 I enjoy all of their work for different reasons. People just got to see it from their perspective. Their lives are completely different compared to 10-20 whatever years ago. They can't just force an album that doesn't capture what they're going through at the time. It's okay if people don't like the new, but they always act like the earlier work is gone. Like 'I miss the times when they were this and that'. Well... their work is still there go and listen to it.
I always think about other bands and how people end up complaining that all their albums sound the same haha, its like you cant win. But im glad LP changed it up and tried different things, thats what makes them and their music so unique aside form their lyrsics. You can go back and listen to whatever your in the mood for.
I am someone who looks at Hybrid Theory as my fave album from them. However, I love how they evolved over time and changed. Nothing will ever replace Hybrid Theory due to it coming out in a time when I was suicidal, on the verge of running away, and felt I had no one I could go to or no one I could depend on, and for those reasons Hybrid Theory hits closer to home. As someone with this mindset I can understand why so many would complain about their changes. No album will be similar to the first, but also no album is like the other, and I love that. Too many wonderful songs throughout their whole career that would never have come about if they didn't take that chance to change and grow.
This is from their best album IMO: A Thousand Suns. The whole album needs to be listened to as one song in one sitting. It’s just so good. Also, I’m so glad you’re finally getting to see the HipHop side of Linkin Park. Their second album Reanimation is a complete hip hip remixed amazing version of their first album Hybrid Theory. It’s easily my favorite album after A Thousand Suns. Gets multiple listens a year. The rapper, Mike Shinoda has several side projects. After Chester died he came out with a rap album that centered on how he was dealing with Chester’s death. R.I.P.
I'm glad you say that. Unfortunately this album is where Linkin Park started getting the most hate since people claimed they "changed too much". I love every song they have ever released. lol
I love/loved Linkin Park! Loved the fact they weren't just one single sound. They could play and sing about anything and it was great! Love Chester! Mike is phenomenal, too. Have to say the rest of the band isn't chopped liver and get over looked! Kinda wish I could've seen Linkin Park vs Disturbed singing Adele. Chester killed it but think David would kill it as well. Both are so vocally talented and inspire so many people.
I am hard pressed to say I have a "favorite" because they are all so good - but I agree wholeheartedly that A Thousand Suns was HIGHLY under-valued, underrated and underappreciated. I know when you get to "that level" expectations are a bitch, but people seriously slept on this album. I really feel it is a culmination of experimentation focused and mastered correctly - like a more mature Hybrid Theory with some slight political hits mixed in with the album (for the time when the war in Iraq was being ridiculed, to a lot of messed up governmental issues like Hurricane Katrina's mis-handling, at that time, they were echoed in that album) - it is just overall an epoch in time that will always be there. That was way too wordy - but the TLDR is it is dope.
Fort Minor is Mike Shinoda's hip hop side project. You should check some of that out. The most popular tracks from that are probably "Where'd You Go" (with Holly Brooke aka Skylar Grey on the hook) or "Remember the Name".
@@robertjencks3679 completely agree! Kenji is a story that is true and sad (though the only things that were changed were the names). It's an important story we should always keep in mind in order to prevent things like that from happening again.
I’m stoked you reacted to this live version! The studio version is great too but man this just shows off the whole band’s versatility! Just Another one of LPs underrated songs. Love these reactions!
Highly recommend Wretches and Kings off the same album. Incredible hype jam. But honestly this whole album is actually crazy incredible and I highly recommend you sit down with it and take it all in. It's intense, thoughtful, heavy in its themes, and masterful in it's execution.
In this song, within the first verse, Mike Shinoda critiques Linkin Park fans. He states, "...Nor the same person tellin' you to forfeit the game..." This line refers to the song 'Point of Authority,' which is featured on the album. There's another reference to Linkin Park's debut album 'Hybrid Theory,' which achieved great success. He also delves into the notion that even a blueprint, like 'Hybrid Theory,' can be both a blessing and a curse. Once you establish a theory of how something works, everyone expects the next thing to be just like the first. In this particular verse, Shinoda is particularly direct in addressing the haters.
Mr L Boyd, thank you sooooo much for stumbling onto this. Every song from this album is gold, react to Waiting For The End Live Red Square 2011 LINKIN PARK RIP Chester ♥️
I'll second Fort Minor - great music that you'll like a lot. For Linkin Park specifically I have to STRONGLY recommend their album Reanimation (though for a lot of reasons these songs never get reacted to elsewhere, and they may not have live versions available). Reanimation is basically a full remix of their original Hybrid Theory album, but with features that really pay homage to hip hop, nu metal, and other genres the band clearly liked and integrated into their own music, in their own way.
This is from their most underrated album, A Thousand Suns. A vast *majority* of LP fans *hated* this album at first. Given time, a listen shows the genius behind the concept album. Other songs to listen/react include The Catalyst, Blackout, and Wretches & Kings.
YES! You have been sleeping on Linkin Park. They are so versatile in their music, every album is different. I love all of them in nearly equal measures, they all give me something. (I didn't listen to much Re-Animation, full disclosure, nor did I get it in me to listen to "One more light" yet) Maybe not everything might be up your alley, but there is so much *anything* they can do.. Definitely should check out more of them. "Wretches and Kings" has been asked for already, but my personal favorite might actually be "Line in the sand".
Love love love this song, from my favourite Linkin Park album, A Thousand Suns! The whole album really deserves to be listened to from start to finish, it is masterfully put together.
You never get tired of LP becasue every album--every song--is different from the last. They've created a genre all their own. Groundbreaking. Inimitable. Extraordinary. Chester... a legend, an angel--a rare treasure that will forever shine! Mike...a rapping phenom--a musical genius who has continued with a brilliant solo career. They're also one of the few bands that nailed it LIVE. Here's a list of some amazing performances.

The whole "A Thousand Suns" album is a trip. It's probably my favorite album ever. I remember when it first came out, people either loved it or hated it, there was no in between. I'd recommend "The Catalyst," another great song off this album.
Like I said, top 5 songs of theirs sooo dope to see someone hear it for the first time and love it. This album and their first just flow so well, a real ALBUM.
The entire Thousand Suns album is one of the most incredible things I've ever listened to. I'm a die hard Hybrid Theory and Meteora fan, but Thousand Suns is hands down my favorite. The album is very political, and it's a concept album about nuclear war. Wretches and Kings is my favorite on the album, but they are all amazing
LP has been my favorite band for 20 years but damn i didn't know lots of the Shout outs until now. Still learning from you its awesome. Also some people didn't understand why I liked this one when it came out but its always been special. Would love to see you react to some of the songs you have already listened to but from the Reanimation album, if you like it when things are switched up.
I would love to hear you do a reaction to another of their songs "Wretches and Kings" from the same album. "Wretches And Kings" is a political song, featuring excerpts from Mario Savio's "Bodies upon the gears", or "Operation Of The Machine" speech he delivered on December 2, 1964.
Also "Waiting For The End" is a more contemporary sounding song but still shows a great range of performances from the band and it's one of the four or so tracks they made an official video for which got some of the most airplay from the Thousand Suns album.
My favorite album from LP will always be Hybrid Theory, but I think the album this song comes from is very underrated. They switched up their style multiple times over the years, and this album is a testament to that
This song is off of my favorite album by them, A Thousand Suns. Admittedly, it's not a lot of people's favorite album. It's got a fairly unique sound palette compared to most of their discography, so those who prefer Linkin Park's more commonly heard aesthetic don't necessarily find this album as appealing. One of the things I love the most about this album is that it's presented as a concept album, where for the most part, each track seamlessly transitions into the next. And although they keep the concept somewhat open ended. NY the end of the album you have a fairly good idea about the statement they're trying to make.
Try something from Reanimation, the fact that their second label release was a hip-hop remix of their first album tells you how close hip-hop is to the band and Mike in particular (as he is the main driver of it all). If you listen to the Xero sample tape and Hybrid Theory EP (both previous names of the band) you can really hear the hip-hop influence even more. Those tracks may not get as many views, although you never know if you stamp LP on it!
I've been listening to Linkin Park since around 8 years old. The point is just that I like the music; it's very catchy, like hits music. And then I became older and tried to listen to their whole discography and they're freaking amazing. Every album sound different, and very creative. It's rare for me to find them to just skip because every song is just very good in its own way. I hope your journey still continues reacting to this band.

He actually reviewed it a year ago of most of their collision course.
@@AlejandroRamirez-rx1py ah OK, the way he spoke at the end of this one made it sound like he hadn't heard their more hip hop stuff.
@@mpolster24 yes he may be confused cause he has review quite a bit of LP catalog. If you search it with LP and Jay Z you'll find it. He actually enjoyed it.
