There was a video they did years ago where Chester got a sound wave analysis done on his scream and the unique thing about his voice is its 3 different octive ranges which is why it sounds like a scream and a deep singing at the same time. Truly a once in a lifetime talent
Without a doubt, “Given Up” contains one of the greatest vocalist moments in all of rock/metal history. I don’t want to spoil it too much, but I think that you will find the vast majority of your audience in agreement that both technically and emotionally it is a 1000% CANT MISS song
My sis got to see them perform in Dallas back in the day, and she said Chester screamed like that the entire length of the concert - such a high energy performance.
This is from the beginning of Linkin Park's career, the era I love most from them. I could listen to all this over and over. The live shows from this are so wonderful. Joe's skills really shine and play an obvious role, and Mike was more involved vocally. Chester is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but I loved the play between hip-hop and rock. I love this song, and no matter the version it is amazing. I am so happy you are watching their live stuff, even if this video Mike's mic was a bit low, but no way to know until you watched it. Keep watching their live stuff please, it is great.
I got to see them once when they were in Austin back in the day and I can confirm that he is absolutely amazing and can literally hold a note like that for ages. The amount of energy at the show felt physically palpable, it was otherworldly
you have have HAVE to check out Chester's rendition of Rolling in the Deep. really blew me away, especially after having listened to the band for years. My December is another amazing track as well.
definitely Chester’s voice was one of a kind, able to be both sweet and tender and super strong and raw. But in my opinion what made this band great was that magical combination of Mike Shinoda’s lyrics, raps, pianos, Cheste’s voice and emotional delivery, Mr. Han… I mean Every member if the band gave it a touch of why it became what it did
You hit the nail on the head in your thought about violence referenced in this song. Chester would eventually open up about being sexually assaulted as a child, which pushed him into hard drugs at a very young age
Chester is amazing, no doubt about it. The quality and power of is voice are unique. But Mike is amazing as well. Sometimes it seemed like he didn't get enough credit. He sings, he raps, plays the guitar and plays the keyboard. He is amazing
Big fan of LP and Chester Bennington. The first song I've heard was Crawling and that, my friend, was the moment I've started to dig deep on them until today! Seen them live 3 times! Really miss that gifted and kind soul... Chester❤️ Like you also MrLBoyd, you're genuine and super intelligent! Big hugs from Portugal 😁👍🏻
You really can’t go wrong with any song choice from LP but some of my personal favorites are: Pushing Me Away (Live in Texas version) Given Up (AOL session) The Messenger (Any acoustic live version) Faint (Live In Texas or Rock AM Ring) Hands Held High (Any version, this will make you appreciate Mike even more.) Wretches and Kings (any live version) Guilty All the Same (any live version) Final Masquerade (any live version) Mike Shinoda’s two favorites also can’t be missed. Papercut and Waiting for the End.
The entire band is full of talent. While Chester is just absolutely amazing dont underestimate mikes voice. He is great at rapping but he also can sing very well. Chester had the voice of an angel and the scream of a demon!
dont get me wrong Chester was amazing. and was the perfect addition to linkin park when they became linkin park. however mike is probably the driving force behind linkin park. considering he is 1/2 of the legendary vocals of this band... but also the producer, the band wouldnt be worthy of Chester if mike wasn't able to do his thing eithor.
I was never a huge fan of rap. Not to say that I don’t like it, but the mixture of rock, metal, rap, and scratching from Joe Han is why drew me to them. I found that I needed the mix of all of that and obviously Chester’s voice. This is in my opinion the perfect band.
Great song. The entirety of their Hybrid Theory album is amazing. More from it would be good, plus Shadow of the Day. You should also check out some songs from their Resurection album which is a remix with guest rappers/singers/DJs doing all the songs from the Hybrid Theory album.
"In the End" was the song that brought them to my attention, though at the time not for the "right" reason. I remember there being a discussion surrounding LP concerning that song with religious groups making a stink about how the lyrics of the song were "anti-Christian," trying to "promote ungodly behavior" by saying that "in the end, it doesn't even matter." I didn't get *into* Linkin Park until...their third? Can Reanimation really be considered an album?..."Meteora" released. My best friend was into them really big at the time, and it tends to take a lot longer for me to warm up to bands. All that said, I'd say it was probably "Faint" that really cemented my love for LP. I borrowed his CD, listened to it, and then a while later I bought my own copy, as well as the other albums available at the time. LP and Chester will always have a place in my heart.
This is by far my favorite Linkin park song. Growing up I loved Linkin Park and that was mostly due to my love for transformers and also due to the fact that my parents only let me listen to country , Linkin park , Eminem ( only with dad), three days grace , Green Day and breaking Benjamin. As I got older I was introduced to metal by my next door neighbor who is only two years older than me and that is when I found this song.
You asked what brought me to Lincoln Park my answer is the entire hybrid theory album when I was in high school pretty much saved my life when I was in high school just wish Krysta would’ve known how many people he helped and that would’ve helped him the next song you should probably listen to is called heavy is some of their later work and it really showcases Chesters singing and musicality
3:20 and on, indeed, ''just listen to him live'' like you said... then compare it to the rap bit earlier..(so sorry cant remember his name, its been a while, like 2003/4 type while lol) but anyways, classic right there.
Chester the God of vocal cord.. And the God never dies ... And the God will come again.... And make us all to entertain... With the light of message.. He will come again
Hii there mr.Lboyd or must i say mr.reactionLegend?!😏💪👊 Been a long looong time watcher of the channel & when i looked up just a minute ago who reacted to this banger of a track....OFCOURS THERE YOU ARE AGAIN!!😏😉💪👑 Hahaha could have known 🙈 But come on let's agree on 1 thing here: WHAT-A-INTRO with that demonic lion roar from chester right?!?!🤤😍😍🔥 Now THAT is how a live set opening should be hahaha🔥🔥💪💯 Never stop doing what you do best brother! Lots of love&support from the Netherlands 👊🫶
Love linkin park especially early stuff. But clean clean vocals that i discoverd was live at Milton Keys pushing me away! At the the time we all knew what he could do rap rock and even semi melodic. But besides collision course with Jay pushing me away way fantastic and then layer you get Linkin Park doing Rolling in the deep. Both are beautiful and amazing
I may get flack for this, and honestly my knowledge of hip-hop is minimal, but Chester's hooks for Linkin Park are on par with any Nate Dog hook I've heard, and I mean that with respect toward Nate. Plus Chester's singing in general was next level.
Please please please react to the LIVE WITH JIMMY KIMMEL performance of “One more light”. If you reacted to the video, the live is completely different. Also, look up the dates that correlate with the death of Chester (Rest Peacefully) and how it relates with Chris Cornell (Rest peacefully) Chester was the Godfather of Chris’s three kids. They were best friends. 🥺
Somewhere I belong is one of my favorites from the inside is another one it's just an emotional connection with his voice it's almost like he's speaking or singing in this case for all of us one of the qualities I loved about Chester
I've always liked Chester. I never thought he had a good " Singing " voice. I thought he was nasally, and off pitch. You've schooled me a bit. Still not sure if I agree. Well done
There was a video they did years ago where Chester got a sound wave analysis done on his scream and the unique thing about his voice is its 3 different octive ranges which is why it sounds like a scream and a deep singing at the same time. Truly a once in a lifetime talent
Takes a lot of bottom of throat work to do that. Almost top of the chest singing.
That’s not unique, a lot of people have a wide vocal range
@@drummersnare6276 at one time though, somehow when he screamed it layered. It wasn't just a scream using false vocals
Everyone may have a wide vocal range, but it's the ability to utilize it.
@@drummersnare6276 not like Chester Bennington his voice was very unique actually

Yup, I'm surprised he hasn't reviewed Given up yet. the AOL live version is AMAZING
He’s right beyond right. Given up. Chester. Up there with Maynard James Keenan’s greatest moments
109 likes @mrlboyd I’m begging ya
When I first heard that, I was sure it was edited, but then I saw him do it live. It's such an insane moment.
What initially drew me to Linkin Park was a combination of their lyrics and the emotion of Chester's singing.
My sis got to see them perform in Dallas back in the day, and she said Chester screamed like that the entire length of the concert - such a high energy performance.
Linkin Park had two genius in one band. Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington.
One of their most underrated songs. In my top 5 for sure!!

yes!!
Would also recommend their slower version of Pushing Me Away from 2008 Road to Revolution. Or really anything from that gig.
From that gravelly scream to the angelic melody. I miss Chester, so much. All the Linkin Park joy and tragedy. 💔. A group of talented musicians. ☮️💜
So many better song versions. But, a good version of a live show. Chester IS a rock god, good call
@@catherinereynolds9644 and Mike is a rap god. Linkin Park had both genius in one band.

RIP Chester

You forgot mixing and producing the songs. I think I’ve said this before but if Chester was the soul of Linkin Park then Mike was the beating heart.
@@CyberNut930 yeah. That too. He is amazing

Saw Linkin Park live in 2011! Epic show. It was before they became a pop band. They were still a metal band in 2011. They played for 2 hours!
If you want to see Chester's range, he did a cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and it just tears at heartstrings how well he sings it.
Chester is definitely missed in 2022
RIP Chester😔
His voice was one of the greatest of our time.

You need to listen Hybrid Theory and Reanimation back to back, it's aa formidable experience.

QWERTY Live at Summer Sonic Tokyo 2006 is probably one of their best live songs they have played
You should do radio or voice-over work. You have a very soothing voice.
RIP Chester he’s a legend
You should check out their song "a place for my head"
Just had to come say that blow up doll impression in the thumbnail is next level
great performance although for me the best version of this song is still from Milan in 2001
Check out Linkin Park live in Texas 2003
AWESOME 😎✌️
Linkin Park’s version of “Rolling in the Deep” is what drew me to Chester like a magnet 🧲 which I didn’t discover till 2020…………❤️ RIP Chester
I think, "I hit you and you hit me back," is metaphorical. These are not violent dudes.
All of the Linkin Park songs, but Waiting for the End is the particular song that brought me to Chester
Linkin Park - Until It's Gone
If you haven't already, listen to their song Blackbirds

Best performance of this song is live in milan 2001. Please check out LP's cover of NIN's cover of Wish and By Myself live in texas.
New Divide is probably one of their more well known songs. Also how does one get you to check out Lightning Crashes by the band Live?
Me too, Live the band, the songs Lightning Crashes, I Alone, Lakini's Juice...
Chester Bennington screem like an devil 👿
You gotta check out Chester singing Adeles song 'rolling in the deep'

Lost in the Echo live please! omg

You should have seen the live version of Live In Texas.
Points of Authority would be a good one next
Gool gig from them

Mr.BLoyd, it is my opinion that you need to check out present day Mike Shinoda!!
Will u do all concerts with rappers????hmmmm
Which concert is this
Rock am ring in 2001 i guess…
I love "Faint." Chester slays the metal vocals
I noticed you like to listen to the artist live and that's great but sometimes the song is better received when it's the audio
You should check out some songs by Fort Minor
Somewhere I belong is one of my favorites from the inside is another one it's just an emotional connection with his voice it's almost like he's speaking or singing in this case for all of us one of the qualities I loved about Chester
You need to listen to linkin park with jay z. They did 5 or 6 songs
Watch live in texas or rock am ring 2004 its so much better

If you think he doesn't have a good singing voice you need to check out "the little things give you away" it's their most underrated song imo.
He have the most melodic voice... lol no one that rocks like that have it like Chester
Please make a reaction video for the song entitled shoot to kill by greyhoundz from Philippine Islands!!! Thank you!!!!
could u check out Linkin Park - QWERTY (Summer Sonic Tokyo 2006) i think u could apricate chester voice in this song wit mike raping
U know he passed right
So a lot, but not all, of Linkin Parks super heavy tracks deal with sexual abuse he went through as a kid. :( i think this may be one of those tracks.
