Hi Joe. Just bought my first M135i thanks to you!! Bloody love it! Best car I've ever had!

Used Mike at Motech for my Auto M135i track car/road car and they are the best tuning company I've dealt with. So helpful. Had the suspension with Bilstein and Springs on a non-active car and it was a revelation to the handling, but the ride was on a different level. Which is the worst thing about M-lites ... the bounce and weave. Spacers (12mm all round on mine at Mikes recommendation) made an immediate difference to turn in and balance at speed with wider track. Love the sound the filter makes ... the Turbo whoosh is intoxicating and like you say you don't hear that so much nowadays, makes you smile and has made a good car great ! Already done two track days and it's been epic, humbled a few serious cars (mine has been re-mapped to 400bhp with bigger intercooler).

I think the diff is a must. I totally agree, I lowered my R32 the same amount. It does make a difference. Wanted to add spacers for a while now, but have been dubious, as I'd heard scary stories, and unless it was going to make a noticeable difference wasn't going to do it. Spacers now ordered. Good to see another 135i video.

Hi joe, bit late to the party but found your vids when having chemotherapy earlier this year.thankfully I’m finally in remission now and decided to buy myself a 2014 m135i last week to celebrate my new lease of life. I was hoping to get the springs and spacers done similar to yourself and noticed you said in the motech fitting vid that your spacers were 15mm and 12mm but in this vid you said 12mm and 10mm. I actually asked a local bm garage if he could fit the 15mm/12mm and he suggested sticking to no wider than 12mm on the back as 15mm would adversely effect the handling. Anyway hope you see this question and thanks so much for the content it really boosted me on some of the darkest days.✊️

Great video, very well put together. I’d kind of fallen out of love with my M140 and it felt like it was never a true M car, especially after owning two previous E46 M3’s.
Maybe with some similar mods to my 140i, I might fall in love with it again.

Hi Joe, good vid. Maybe I'm getting old, but the driving in the Pistonheads clips tour wasn't especially good driving (not from you per se as you were following). As you know, if you can't come to an absolute halt within your line of sight it's game over. I love driving, but the feeling from a lot of TH-cam content recently (LLF, SOL, etc.) makes me feel that there is a big accident coming that will eventually wreck it for us that drive at 8/10ths on the road. Don't get me wrong, I have sold the kit you were following and love them, but just worry about the state of driving on the road. There are track days if you want to stick it in the kitty litter....I'm sure I will get slated by parties that haven't been on the receiving end of a Berk with no foresight....

Just had a watch of this after your M140i vid, all very interesting and good stuff!
I’m very very torn between keeping the m235i automatic and having work done, or going for a similar m140i to you except in manual and having work done on that.
Will be very interested to see what you do to the m140i to hopefully make a decision xD would you have any advice to which would be the most ‘fun’ and driver friendly car?

lowering springs don't improve a cars handling. if you think so then you are fooled. the stronger spring rate can make it feel more rigid, but on all bmw lowering the car will bring the centre of gravity further away from the roll centre which means that the car rolls with more leverage. More roll means less grip in the dry and actually requires you to mount a bit stiffer anti roll bars.

Roll occurs due to the mass of the vehicle rotating around the centroid or center of mass of the car, hence larger vehicles and SUV's exhibiting a lot of roll in corners since their center of mass sits higher than saloons and hatchbacks. This is why manufacturers are using the adaptive suspension to essentially prop cars up in corners. Lowering a car reduces the center of mass, and hence, roll. This means force is transferred more evenly to all four wheels and it corners better. I'm not sure where you get your information from?
