Harley has no customers.. their target demographic will all be dead in less than 10 years and they've done nothing to build a new generation of loyal riders.. Harley is cutting costs however they can while they can.. will be sold off or out of business entirely by 2030...

My governor (in PA) gave one of the Harley plants in our state a million dollars to keep them from moving. That’s was probably 15-20 years ago. I don’t support bribing them with my tax dollars though and I doubt it would ever happen again.

Thailand has large motorcycle manufacturing centers there - Ducati, Triumph, etc. - and now Harley. Once it leaves it is gone forever. One year??? The cost to move alone would mandate a 5 to 10 year commitment.
Over 90% of HD parts are imported, assembled in USA is not the same as Made in USA. People have been buying foreign made US assembled HDs for decades now. I’ve been riding and building Harley’s since the 70s, when even then the front ends, starters etc were Japanese…
I bought a 2023 FXST in APRIL 2023. 10 TIMES IN SHOP FOR WARRANTY ISSUES at 280 -800 miles. I believe this was due to the hostile work environment at the Pennsylvania Plant because of said pandemic. if anyone buys a 2025-?? believe me... buy the extended warranty. News flash many parts are from China anyhow. Thailand and India are making bikes for Triumph and most of the Japanese bikes, NOW!
As sad is it may sound, it makes sense to move to Thailand from their perspective. Asia is all about status. Owning a Harley there is like owning a Rolex or Mercedes. As someone who has lived in Thailand, I can attest to the fact that they sell A LOT of bikes there, with a HUGE markup - mostly due to import duties (a CVO costs more than $100k over there). But even then, when they opened their first factory there, the prices didn’t drop, even though the import duty was reduced. People will pay anything there for that status symbol. China is even crazier in this regard. They banned every two-wheeler with a motor from their major cities. Something about motorbikes being associated with poverty in their culture. The only exception is if you pay something like $50k for a special permit. 95% of those permits in China, are given to Harley Davidson owners. So while in America, Harley is associated with a subgroup of Baby Boomers, in Asia they are a rite of passage into being considered high status of sorts. So if you are making most of your money in a certain area, wouldn’t it make sense to ship your production to that area? Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Honda, and other foreign manufacturers did the same thing for the U.S. Heck, many of them have models (such as the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra), which are only officially sold in North America - they don’t even sell them in Japan.
It was nice when all you needed was a set of standard American tools to get the job done. I don't care if it's metric but shit, make it one or the other.

Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Honda, and other foreign manufacturers did the same thing for the U.S. Heck, many of them have models (such as the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra), which are only officially sold in North America - they don’t even sell them in Japan.
Between the woke BS, the foreign CEO, the EV crap and massive PR scandal HD is losing their core customers. They're done.

I used to have a Harley. Anytime I went to the dealer for a part they always said made in Mexico on them. Harleys been doing things like this for awhile now. Just like the auto companies.

How stupid is that….”just for model year 25”. That would be a waste of money to build a factory in Thailand and train workers just to make models for 2025 and then nothing else….plus it just doesn’t make any sense…so there’s no way that statement could be true. But look at who the CEO is and look at who the board members are….it’s pretty obvious what they are trying to do to this American made company.

Temporary transition? Depends on what the CEO means by “temporary,” & “transition.” Since HD seems to be running the company off the cliff, they need to permanently transition the CEO & board out the door with no golden parachute, no stocks, no cash payout. Just escorted out the door.
