Most of there merch is made outside of the U.S.A so the company slowly sells out their own people. This is the case with 99 percent of big corporations. Many jobs are lost or never handed to our people. Yet its still better then buying a Honda. I will never buy a new Harley. I will enjoy the past bikes and history. If I buy new I will buy an Indian.

This has been their plan all along. A company doesn't just wake up one day and say, "you know what, let's just move production over seas". It was planned at least a couple of years ago. The people running the MOCO don't really care about the company like we do. It's very plain to see by the DEI and woke stuff that it's been bought and paid for by cucks for a while now. The truth sucks, but there it is.

Look at Hyundai they set up a factory in Alabama to make cars; now let’s see Hyosung selling their bikes under the Indian brand and making them in the USA sure they will revive the 841 and market it as The Motorcycle That Survived Pearl Harbor, yet Hyosung copied the V-Rod and soon will sell it as an Indian Eagle.
Just to say they will use some kind of strategic of the President of Argentina wearing a Japanese headband to say that Indian was their for the Falkland Wars to piss off Japanese people to use the comparison of Falkland with the Linancourt Rocks.

I have bought 9 new Harley-Davidsons in my lifetime. I would never be interested in the Nightster at this point in my life no matter what the price was. However, there is a principle at work here. The company is shifting away from its American base. That same American base will not appreciate this. They will lose more customers who buy other styles of bikes. After their woke stance, they may have already lost a major percentage. Nothing like kicking a few more in the teeth. How many will stay loyal to a company who isn't loyal to us, the consumer who buys their products? All I can say is that if they do not shift directions fast, I won't be buying my 10th Harley. My next bike will likely be an Indian.

  • @davebrake

over the years, many of my non riding friends would ask me what's so great about your Harley, why do you love Harley Davidson? one of the things I would always mention in response is that H-D is so American. It's heritage, the quality, their success, always built right here in the USA with much pride. Along with some of the other news lately, I'm starting to quickly lose my enthusiasm for the brand. Disappointing to say the least.

@@RidingintheOzarks It is probably easier (cheaper) to ship to us here in Australia from Thailand than the States. Our whole range save for the new X350 and the X500 are out of Thailand, the X series are out of China. We don't sweat it too much. It's not advertised obviously through the dealers that your new H-D comes from Thailand rather than the US. I don't suppose that 'Ride the Thai Legend' on all of the branding in the dealerships would have the same ring to it as 'Ride the American Legend'. When I purchased my new 2024 CVO Road Glide I pointedly asked the dealer where the bike will be made and he responded "I think the CVO's are still made in the US" I'm sure he full well knew they come from Thailand. The compliance label is even positioned so its difficult to read (impossible) the country of manufacture. The build quality is still there but I do notice that things like the paint, etc. has declined over the years compared to earlier H-D's I've owned. However I'm presuming that this is the same irrespective of where the bike is manufactured. I also note little cost savings in the way of no compendium for the owners manual but a plastic bag. Thanks for the video it was good to hear what was said in that press conference as I had not heard it mentioned elsewhere. I find it highly unlikely that H-D will tool up an assembly line for a 12 month run, could be wrong but I probably doubt it.

My aunt recently handed me down a pair of her old HD leather chaps to wear on my 2003 Dyna, she bought them in 1991 and the label says made in the U.S.A!
Leather is thick with tough panel stitching and the craftsmanship is excellent.
A stark contrast to my HD jacket which I purchased in 2016 that is made in China, that thing feels more like a fashion piece than riding gear for abrasion protection.
If the bikes themselves go overseas, I can't ever see myself buying a new Harley. 😔

Try being 50 years old losing that job that pays your mortgage, auto, medical, food, etc. Sure go back to school and get re-educated. Doesn't work in majority of cases and you end up working at an unskilled labor job and slowly lose everything you worked for!!!!!

Given how poorly the Revolution Max motorcycles have been received I could care less where they are made, they were designed here and that is the important part. Look at it this way, Harley has new riders learning on Chinese designed and Chinese manufactured motorcycles so if that wasn't enough to worry people this move should not concern them either. Harley needs to be more price competitive and another legendary brand long ago allowed lower displacement bikes to be made outside their home country, BMW. They now have a complete line up starting at $6k to over $30k.
Let us all be honest. Harley's volume has not been improving and in a decade has dropped by a third.
last note, given how poorly they Sportsters sell no one is going to care where they come from. They need to be redesigned so that the motor looks good from both sides and have more than two models for sale.

actually, Harley has had a few models made elsewhere before. In the great bike boom of the 70s, they needed a decent trail bike and they needed a smaller displacement street bike, so they offered rebranded imports from different countries. I remember them well. The Harley street bike was Italian and had a single, pushrod horizontal cylinder (I thinkk 350 and 500, but I'm just guessing) and was pretty gutless, but people bought it. The trail bike (I think it was Czech) was fantastic. Your local dealer can tell you the facts. I'm not sure why people are mad now. I have my doubts that mahy people will really sell their Harley and buy an Indian, like they claim. That would be weird.

Thailand is often referred to as the "Detroit of Asia" due to its strong presence in the automotive and motorcycle manufacturing industries. Major Chinese EV brands and Japanese car manufacturers have established significant operations in the country. Thailand's plants are highly efficient in vehicle assembly and meet the Board of Investment (BOI) requirements. To take advantage of tax benefits, many parts are produced locally.
For motorcycles, all major Japanese brands have production plants in Thailand, along with Triumph and Ducati, which manufacture bikes for export to Asian and European markets. Companies choose Thailand for its favorable tax incentives, low labor costs, and an efficient supply chain with locally sourced parts.

Then it becomes all about the bottom line, all else be damned. Also you have the union whose interests are at odds with management, It's like two dogs fighting over the same bone. This is when the decision becomes clear about relocation even though the bean counters know it will come at a high cost.

Some good points in this video, the Thailand plant may have too much capacity as the market for the big twins may face some challenges.
Only few people in the ASEAN countries has the means to purchase a big twin and the European customers are bordering on a recession. So moving production makes business sense. HD do need to lower their price of entry to the bike lineup. My main grief with the new Sportster line is the design and feel. Talked to a dealership salesperson in my home country of Denmark and they are not selling in significant numbers. Moving the production of these could also be a good way for HD to discontinue this line and focusing the US manufacturing to a new entry level model.

This isn’t a new thing. All Australian delivered bikes have been made in Thailand since 2022 / 2023, so I’d say that would be the same for the rest of the asian market as well. So I can’t see how this wouldn’t affect US union production bikes, it’s a massive amount of the total amounts produced. My Australian delivered 2021 Revival has Made in the USA, so I’d say this would have been one of the last US produced bikes for us. A lot of people don’t know this stuff, but being a diehard I’ll only have a USA produced bike. As always, love the content and let me know your thoughts, cheers Brendan.

The Rev Max Based bikes sold in Australia are built in Thailand and are well built . I don't believe Harley about being a Temporary move it makes sense to make all those bikes of a small market at 1 factory not 2 . I frees up space in the York plant to build more of the bikes that are selling well in America . In the past I have owned 2 883 Irons . My current rides are a 2019 Softail Slim , 2023 Nightster Special and 2023 CVO Roadglide with the 121VVT . The Nightster Special hands down is the most fun bike to ride but lacks the sound of a Harley Davidson as most people a use too . From what I see in Facebook Groups the Nightster Special is not selling well in America . Very Limited sold in Australia & New Zealand . European & Asian Sales are much stronger so I understand Harleys reason for building the Rev Max bikes in Thailand .

One other justification of why Thailand is that the plant we have here in Brazil at FTZ of Manaus is just an Assembly line and not an actual production line.
It was the first overseas operation that opened back in 98.
I visited the plant and I can tell you, all (and I mean all) components are shipped in parts (including the engine) and it’s all put back together here (CKD).

Considering the revolution engines are not, in my eyes, real harley davidson products, it doesn't much matter to me. If they ever start to produce any Softails or Touring bikes outside the US, then there's a problem. The overseas factories have been in operation for many years already to serve the lower CC third world markets. As far as the bikes that will be built in Thailand, I'm certain the sales numbers have been quite low anyway in the US, so they will be importing small numbers of them back into the US...who really wants a sportster anymore?

I really appreciate you voicing what we without a voice are thinking.
Thank you for having the courage to put this video out there. I've noticed the big majority of Harley-Davidson youtubers have not said a word of what is happening, how riders feel.
It sounds like pure horse manure that a company would invest millions in setting up a factory elsewhere for only a one year run. We're not buying it.
Business 101 dictates "know your customers". All of this woke stuff is not inline with the majority of riders in the USA.
I am a Latino male that is not inclined with this stuff and neither is the large majority of my brethren. HD needs to realize that most old riders are not computer savvy, not social media savvy and will protest with their wallet. The old timers have kept HD afloat. Apparel is a first world luxury, maintenance can be done by independent shops, aftermarket parts are available for 99% of what we need to keep our bikes running.

By the way, Harley has a long history of building bikes overseas. In 1921 Harley started production of bikes in Japan to get around the UK McKenna Tariffs which placed a 33.3% duty against American brands. Due to the Great Depression Harley was in a very difficult financial position and decided to license production of their bikes to Rikuo which produced flat head 74 inch hardtail frame bikes from 1929 to 1958. I can see moving the production of a few models for US consumption till a factory upgrade and to gurantee they meet demand for other current models/upgrades to current models.
