    Pete Docter is the perfect guy to make this type of animation about. His stuff is so playful and stylized and his way of talking is so well reflected in moving images, especially since he's a guy who uses this medium to express his thoughts. These are definitely the types of videos that I find myself coming back to.

    I love how Pete Docter just thinks of the stories he wants to tell. Like the way he thinks of them are great for anyone to understand on where you can start and go with telling stories or thinking about life

    I heard that his inspiration for SOUL was when he had become a huge success after making Inside Out, and had to confront the question of "now what?"

    Pete Docter is such a brilliant guy. He really seems to care so much about Pixar’s reputation. He admitted that the sequels in the 2010s were made because of financial reasons and I respect that so much. But I am glad he’s taking good care of Pixar so much right now and I believe in him so much. Also I did see him in person almost two years ago and hopefully I’ll officially met him soon.

      @EmileFeik 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@loganwarner176 hmm as previously mentioned, Contrapoints is probably my favorite channel. She makes incredibly high quality videos that are very smart and engaging as well. However her videos are all explicitly political, so may not be for everyone. Folding Ideas makes very smart videos about film and media analysis, as well as politics sometimes. Patrick H Willems makes fun videos talking about film and pop culture, often with skits involved. Karsten Runquist makes similar videos to Royal Ocean, though they tend to be perhaps slightly more disposable, but they're still fun. And hbomberguy makes great videos on pretty much anything but uploads like three times a year.

    It's too bad that this video doesn't tackle Soul, otherwise this would've been about the complete works of Pete Docter, as it's unlikely that he's going to direct a movie anytime soon. Plus, the UPA-inspired visuals in Soul would've been put to good use in this video.

    Try Ghibli's video essay after this..
    Topics like: 3D aim of Goro Miyazaki, Technology they currently using, their failures with 2D and possible cons with 3D, Ghibli remains a prestige if their traditional work will change into 3D CGI animation or it'll fall somehow like UPA did?
    OR: Just mention one in any future video..🤷‍♂️
