Late 70s early 80s Reno was fantastic downtown so sad now. It used to be alive 24/7. Part of the demise was legal gambling in other states. People used to flock here every weekend.
My son landed there in 2018. Homeless. He worked himself into a job at Ruth Christie’s Steakhouse. He caught a good night at a Casino and left with lots of comped rooms. He went back with his significant other and took advantage of that this last summer. He ended up in a car accident. Until I watched this video I had always wondered about his time there. I’ve been grieving over his death, but this has given me great comfort. Thank you.
Wow! Thank you for this one! I knew Reno so well. In the mid-70s I was a soldier stationed at an Army Base a little way west of Reno in California. Reno was our playground. I even had a part-time job in the old Eldorado Casino working Security. My wife and I got married in the Park Wedding Chapel on September 10th, 1979. People say that a lot of these marriages in 24 hour Nevada wedding chappals never last but we were happily married right up til the day she passed away in 2006. I went back to Reno for a business seminar in 2008 held at the Grand Sierra. If I'm not mistaken that used to be the MGM Grand Reno. I was there the day the MGM opened in '77 or;78 and I had my first date with my wife there too. I have a trunkload of Reno memories and while I love all your video adventures, I gotta say this one is special. Thank you.
I visited first time Reno in december 2004, being a south american student was the best time of my life. I worked in harrahs reno as part of my international student program and I made so many friends. This place was magical. After many years i came back in 2018 with my wife. I was really disappointed about this place was not the same I remember. It was crowded with homeless, drug addicts, drunk people all around downtown asking for change or something else.
Girl, you have so many friends you get to travel with. That is awesome. Getting friends to travel with me is like having wisdom teeth pulled without pain meds. No one wants to leave home. And if they do, they want to go to a hotel with all the amenities of home. I like exploring back roads and the offbeat. Safe travels.
It was exciting playing Reno in the early 90s. We mostly played the clubs and fell in love with waitresses from the Nugget and the Pepper Mill. Playing everywhere out West was incredible back then.
Wow, all the great clubs gone now. Harold's, Fitzgeralds, Harrah's, Cal-Nevada, and my all time favorite, the little dingy Nevada club. What a place, what fun. All gone now. SAD!!!!
We stayed at the Nugget Casino, Sparks, NV. Outside of Reno. Went to Downtown Reno for the day, and was going to eat that night at our favorite Basque Restaurant. After walking around downtown, we changed our minds, and left the area. What a shock! We had out of state family with us and they were worried about their safety. We always loved to show the biggest little city to our family and friends.
I used to play bass at Bally’s in Reno. Went to Harah’s after our shows, late night, to see and hear “Frenz” play. Amazing band. The concert room at Harah’s. was amazing. It was enclosed, but you could sit at the bar on the outside and look through windows if you wanted. It could be pumping volume wise since it was enclosed and wouldn’t have the Pit bosses freaking out over volume issues. Great memories at Harah’s. Really sad. Thanks for the tour WonderHussey!
The original Reno arch was donated to a small town called Willits, in California, North of Santa Rosa. Willits changed the arch to 'Gateway to the Redwoods '
I’m so glad Reno is making a comeback. It was pretty rough last time I visited (about 10yrs ago). Growing up in Northern California, it was the cool place to visit in the 80s & 90s, circus/circus was the best 😂
@@zariballard no downfall happening here in Reno! Locals haven't been going downtown for years and with covid there is almost nobody to go there. Midtown, just South of downtown is thriving. Harrah's was bought by the family that owns the Silver Legacy, Circus Circus and El Dorado, thats why the sign said tokens could be redeemed there. Housing prices are the highest they have ever been in Reno as well as the median price for a house. Companies are moving to Reno, Sparks and Storey counties in droves. Reno is way more diversified than Vegas, gaming has been on the back burner for years.
I see nothing but positivity in Reno. I barely have a preschool education but I was able to get my GED since coming here, got a warehouse job and now buying a home. Reno is my American dream and I’m truly sorry for the homeless, unemployed, drug addicts but this is my heaven, my bread and butter. I love this city and live here. What happened to this city? Nothing but positivity, tech companies, a lot of apartments to accommodate people and with hard work, along with saving money you can buy a house.
During the 80s Black Jack was the hottest game in town... they done away with Blackjack almost... Reno went downhill ever ever since...they had the gay Rodeo... big mistake... Comstock and other western themed casinos went out of business!
You know I went there on my 21st b-day in the late nineties and the nightlife was amazing! I went back quite a few times in the early 2000s and I always had tons of fun. It really is too bad to see all of these places close down.
Really cool watching you gals snooping. FYI: a good chunk of those closed shops and casinos occurred in the 2008 downturn (and earlier), but Harrah's was recent. Reno is going through a fairly long termed churn (and upchuck)! Anyway, love your channel (you're my favorite Wonderhussy). Have a nice tomorrow. 🤩😜🤠🥳🤓 💃
The Cowboy Western store in Reno was always an awesome stop for me. Unimaginable at what I’m watching here with your walk-around. Grateful that I got the chances to enjoy it all back in the day.
I started going to Reno in the late 80's. Seemed like every time I went there were more casinos closed. Nevada Club, Harold's, etc were great places. Haven't been in about 10 years. Sad how it looks now.
Awesome! Thanks. Reno was my stomping grounds when I lived in the Bay Area. You did such a great job narrating as you guys went around. I'm saddened what Reno's turned into. I still try and visit time to time from South Dakota. Mostly for nostalgia.
The hand prints were from the short lived Planet Hollywood. Harrahs Steakhouse was a different restaurant. Whitney Peak is a non gambling hotel that allows pets and has a rock wall. Yes downtown has become sad. Want to ask any questions about Reno? Im almost 45 years old and have lived in the Reno/Sparks area all my life.
You need to do what i did, I bailed from Nevada just over a year ago after living in Vegas since the late 70's and moved to the Gulf Coast, almost everything stayed opened, Casinos did close for a very short period of time and now everything is back open after about 2 months being closed. Sarah you need to fly to Arkansas and never leave, there is alot of areas you can film out here.
Wow, Sarah Thanks for the latest on Reno. I was born and raised there and its heart breaking to see downtown like that.I spent every weekend thru my teenage years cruising Virginia street, I cried a little. Harrahs really blew my mind, I worked there in the buffet way back. The awful awful burger mmmmmm the bestest burgers and fries for a really cheap price. I love your videos, you Rock!! Much Love
Don't cry. Reno is better than it has been ever. Idc about old casinos closing because they are being turned into upscale condos with an upscale shopping center downstairs. It's good to change from all gaming to much more.
I was in Reno before covid-19. There were casino closures then. Harrahs long time owner died. The generation who enjoyed the casinos has mostly died. I'm originally from Reno. Downtown is suffering like other cities without casinos. Two icons lost was the Mapes imploded. The closure of the post office. The post office has been featured in several movies as a creepy 1930's styled building.
Thank you for the journey to Downtown Reno! It is sad to see some of the sights! I am going to miss the Awful -Awful burger @ at the Nugget and Harrahs! Hope you, and Gina, had a nice time on Lake Shasta and in Reno! Hope you both stay safe, and awesome! 🌅🤙🧧
I lived there in 1991, and it was so lively and exciting with all of the neon. I didn't see the river that ran through or Fitzgerald's Casino by the arch. It looks totally different today. Had a great view of the whole city from a brand new apartment on Grand Summit Drive back then. It was a city full of opportunity at the time, and gave me a feeling of a bright future ahead. Last time I saw it was 1999, and I won big at a new casino called Atlantis. Can't believe what has happened to the "Biggest Little City"
I used to live outside Carson City, so I spent many interesting hours in Reno. Sad to see it in this tattered condition. But, don't count Reno out. It was a thriving city, when Las Vegas was still a stage stop. Harrah's had a great movie theater, with comfortable overstuffed easy chairs. I met Cosby there, backstage, before a show. Creepy guy. Dead-looking eyes. Thanks for the tour of Reno, Sarah. I love your videos, and I greatly appreciate your sparkling personality, and your unique way of seeing the world. Would you shoot some video of Pyramid Lake sometime? I used to buy a permit from the tribe, and camp out there. So peaceful. Many tribes considered it a power spot, and traveled long distances to meet there. The stark beauty of a desert lake. Not to be missed.
Grey Jay. Pyramid Lake is my favorite outdoor place in northern NV. I like it much better than Lake Tahoe for camping, fishing, etc because it's in the desert on an Indian Reservation and scares off a lot of tourists. Unfortunately, the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe closed off the east side of the lake about 10 years to non-tribal members because of vandalism and trash. This Spring the tribe closed off the entire reservation to non-members because of the coronavirus. It's still closed and probably will stay that way for a while. I miss spending time there and look forward to better times ahead.
Reno POPPED with housing when the Apple/Tesla stuff got there. I almost bought before they announced it and the 4 bed 3ba house hadn't had anyone there in over a year and was 150K in nice older neighborhood. I talked to the neighbor when there. 50-70K for nice 2 bed condos and now there's very little under 100K and not good area. House more than double in a few years. Was watching Vegas and Reno passed Vegas as for as getting expensive. Vegas is catching up if not passing but Cali exit will raise Nevada and Reno will be HOT in 5 years.
I live in Manchester UK. I've never been to the USA but these comments are so educational to read. Fascinating. Amazing people. Great videos. Great comments.
I seriously don’t get people trying to act like reno fell off. First of all everywhere fell off due to covid. 2. Reno is much better than vegas and Bay Area techies are moving here which will bring in more opportunities. 3. The GSR, and Atlantis were absolutely packed for Christmas weekend covid or not.
@@jenijustine5927 I favor the Atlanta's over the Peppermill the top two casinos... the Peppermill used to play the Frank Sinatra music which I totally dislike!
Reno was great. back in the 80’s and 90’s. As a musician, I was working six nights a week forty two weeks a year. Rent was low and women were abundant. I loved every minute of it...
@@calliew311 Yes. It is tragic how things have turned for the worse. In 95, I moved into a really nice, brand new 1 bd apt, in NW Reno. $600 per mo.You’ll never see that again. I fear it’s going to get a lot worse... WAY worse.
@@paulnicolosi4792 yes it's getting worse and will only get worse. But the good part is that the city is growing and becoming more important and being known for more than a not as good Vegas. I hate the housing, but I'm happy Reno has shifted from just being a gambling city.
I just recently found your channel. I have enjoyed your escapades so far. Looking forward to seeing more. Reno has always been a bit iffy and covid has changed everything and not for the better. I am in Los Angeles and we are pretty sad right now too! Problems in cities have been amplified. Embracing change seems to be the thing to do. Reno is the last stop before Burning man! Even that was canceled this year.
There are awesome parts of Reno (midtown / south reno / riverwalk / other streets downtown) and amazing history to point out. Just not where she shot sadly :(
Gone......but not forgotten.....Reno!!! Remember this place well. Especially when I first visited this charming little town in the early 80s and then in the mid 2000s.
I remember looking at home prices in Reno from 2014 to 2016 and thinking it was very reasonable. I was absolutely shocked when I looked at current prices, especially if you want to live in one of the nicer areas like Somersett, Galena or Caramella Ranch.
i miss reno grew up there in the 60s my mom worked at the Mapes think i was around 5 got to see Red Skelton there cant believe they imploded it i had so much fun in that place God bless you Charlie Mapes & thanks for providing for my family ill be up to see ya shortly RIP & to you Wonderhussy thank you too for bringing me home im outa work way before covid texters hit me 2 different times2017 & 2018 & im still not better but seeing nevada again through your eyes gives me hope & keeps me happy you remind me of a grown up version of a little girl whos mom babysat me when i lived there thanks again love your adventures stay safe girl No Body
I used to watch Reno 911 all the time. Love that show. It's amazing how hard hit the gaming industry has been hit. The pandemic problem is a perfect storm for the entire industry. It'll take years to recover.
Was in Reno in the late 1980s - my first experience at a casino. It was something that I will never forget - had a great time there. It is sad to see that so much has changed (not for the good, unfortunately). However, it is good to see that they are on an upward track. Thanks for sharing and taking us with - a great memory revisited.
Legalized gaming on the west side of the Sierra killed Reno long before C-19. But up through the 1980’s, & into the ‘90’s Reno was the prime time shit for anyone from the Bay Area & NorCal.
There's nothing wrong with Reno, lol. If you go downtown then ya it looks like that but Reno is booming. We have gambling but aren't focused on gambling anymore. I just heard on the news that Reno is being dubbed the little Silicon Valley. It's more expensive to live in Reno than Vegas, and that's why there's so many homeless. They are building and growing, just not fast enough.
I'm from northern California, live near Little Rock now, and lived in Sparks Nevada for two years. Fun video. I LOVE Reno! The river and mountains are gorgeous! Weather is awesome. If not for grandbabies (here) I would still be there.
It's still a great place to live. That's why there aren't enough places to live and rents and home prices are sky rocketing. People can't judge Reno on downtown, especially since Reno isn't about casinos anymore. Yes there is gambling, but there is much more. That's what is better than Vegas. You don't have to gamble or go to a casino to have a vacation.
reno died when california ok indian casinos.sad used to walk down virginia street with all the casinos opened up to the street you would hear the coins hitting the tills and the bells ringing 24/7
Thank you for doing this video Reno Nevada is my home town 66 years here soooooo sad to see the places of my life past and present gone we will rebound 😢😢😢
I had to laugh when you said, "you can see by the faded paint and there used to be neon lights that it was a casino". What about the six story tall sign that says CASINO?
Awe, when I was 12 we went thru Reno on our vacation across the West & I loved it. I thought it was amazing & like I was in a very metropolitan place back in the 80s. We didn't go to Vegas, so Reno was all I knew & I gotta say I loved Circus Circus! I drove through again back in 2012 & its sad to see this now. Well, its sad a virus with a 99% survival rate, and is killed with Lysol, has shut down the world. Anywho,,,,cool video.
@@carlblumenstock338 They are all just puppets while people like Buffet, Gates, Rockefeller, World bank, Master card and even certain countries fund it all and pull the strings.
Here's some Reno history, my grandparents started Del Mar Station, and of course Shea's Tavern. We had every national band there was at the time. Godsmack, Nickleback, 3 Doors Down, NOFX, Blink...I remember when 311 had just bought Whitney Huston's band bus in Utah, there first stop was Del Mar Station in Reno....I lived in the apartment overlooking Virginia street and let me tell ya, Hot August Nights with the bands in town, pure madness! Great content. Very nicely done
I spent so much time at Del Mar when I was young. I remember those bands as well as AFI. And yes, Blink, before 182. Scott (the drummer) went to Wooster. There were a lot of great underground punk banks, Zoinks!, Screw 32...I remember my mom dropping me and my friends off since we couldn't drive yet, lol.
So you remember me right? I mean I put in so much work to get all of you in the building and everything. In 97' I was 18 years old so I was just a little older. DM me @Contraband_5150 it would be cool to share some stories with you.
The motel room with the big fridge I see movement next to the big bed by the wall. It is either someone ducking down or just an illusion of shadow. Always great videos!
This video is going to hit home for many who see it. It is one thing to shoot video of some small abandoned place no one has ever been to but a few. However shooting Harrah's, The Nugget and especially the bars has a whole different meaning and feel to it.
Wow, that was sure depressing. I'm sitting here watching you walking around Reno and thinking how I'm also in the process of changing things in my own life. Since my companion passed away and left me here on my own I'm having to sell off stuff like furniture, etc in order to make ends meet. This is not going to be an easy transition but I think I'm up to it. At least I'm not the only one who's having to make changes. I'll probably have to sell this place but I'm looking at it as an adventure. You do what you gotta do. Thanks for sharing.
I lost my wife 71/2 years ago. Couldn't stay in that house without her. Got a smaller house 15 miles north in a small town, still close enough to my son. Doing OK, but I like to vent with people in the same boat.Sorry about your situation , but you sound very strong and I'm sure you'll be O. K . Real bummer about Reno , Had a lot of good times there.Good luck to you! from Minn.
There are awesome parts of Reno (midtown / south reno / riverwalk / other streets downtown) and amazing history to point out. Just not where she shot sadly :(
We are full time rvers and are currently in Vegas. Its surreal to see it. We wanted to see Reno but decided to skip it and come on to Las Vegas. The Casinos are all mostly empty and the homeless are everywhere. Sisolak is destroying the state of Nevada.
WOW! Thank you Sarah for this eye opening look at what has changed. I have spent a few evenings in Reno back when it was popping. I didn't know of its demise. Sad!
Sarah, I have some friends who live in Reno...they said a lot of the closed up places are like that because of the riots a couple of months ago. Great video! 👍👍
@@j.b.9895 I live in reno. They fucked up a bank of America in a university area, busted up the town hall, and broke a bunch of other shit. Our police dept has a amazing track record, and the killings that sparked them happened all the way in Minneapolis. So yeah... pretty evil
I lived in Vegas for 2 years and I never got to Reno! Now I'm afraid I missed seeing the heyday of it! Glad you had fun on the boat trip! Gina seems to be an awesome up for anything friend! Keep on staying safe & cant wait for your next posts!! Happy exploring! Xoxo
I dealt 21 @ Harrahs for several summers. It was a good place to work and was considered the "class" of Reno at the time. That was the Center Street Building which was the first and was home to the Headliner Room. At times, I dealt in "pit one" which was the high limit pit right by the Headliner Room. There were in fact plenty of top tier entertainers that played there at the time. The most memorable for me was dealing to Lynda Carter. "YIKERS"!!!
The area on Virginia Street you were showing is definitely going thru a transition right now, but there are plenty of casinos that are doing good business. GSR, Atlantis and Peppermill to name a few, they are worth your time, and only a couple miles away.
Well it could be better now that we have been forced to be with ourselves all this time! We have all come face to face with what’s really important and let the other things fall away...
you walked right by where i side swiped my families cadillac into a cab when i was 12-13 yrs old. me & my friend took it out to cruise virginia street many many moons ago lol. walked by my mom's work. my dad's work. where my grandma used to take me to breakfast all the time. i wish you went out near the park by the river where i used to play basketball & watch my dad play basketball. across the river from the catholic church. lots of fun memories there.
Reno has been rough around the edges for the last 30-40 years but it also had a lot more character than Vegas. First time I visited was in the early 80's. A friend of mine in San Francisco was away on vacation so I was crashing at his apartment while he was away. Within a day or so of him getting back he made it pretty clear that I needed to go. The next day in the Sunday Chronicle there was an ad for the Sands hotel in Reno advertising rooms for $15 a night! Perfect. Reno was kind of the wild west back then. Just behind the large casinos were many sleazy, by the week motor-lodges that had their day in the 50's but were now past their prime. Some still had some pretty cool neon signs. Now the millennials from the bay area have taken Reno over. The reason there are so many homeless people is because the sleazy, weekly stay motor courts where they used to live are being redeveloped for the high income folks. Last time I was in Reno was in 2019 for a day of R and R at the Sands after burning man. Met an older gentleman, a Nam Vet, on the street who was loaded down with bags of groceries. I helped him carry them to the motorlodge where he lived and he told me all about how difficult it was to find a place to live on SS income. The motel where he was living had been sold to a developer and it was only a matter of time before he would have to move once again. This was happening all over town. Said he didn't know where he was going to go. Reno had seemed the perfect place because his hometown, San Diego, had become too expensive many years ago and certainly wasn't an option. I guess the less fortunate can always go to hell to live.
I live in Reno now! Love it! Also lived in SD, LV, SF, Boston, Chicago...and overseas so I have some perspective i hope. Putting it in Vegas terms for ya, walking around that one block area of Reno is kinda like Walking East of the Cortez on Ogden in Vegas and calling that Las Vegas :/ So yeah...not really representative of Reno. I'd love to give you a better list of streets and stuff to explore or a tour next time you're in town. Harrah's closed and was spun off because Eldorado bought Caesars and would have owned 4 major resorts downtown so it was required to be sold for anti-competitive reasons. It's going to be much needed apartments, not condos. The Horseshoe has been closed for 10+? years, nothing to do with the virus. The reason why a lot of downtown seems depressed is because the owners of the buildings are sitting on them, knowing the economy is doing great and waiting for way too much money for them. Talking millions and 20x+ initial investment so there's no interest in taking care of their retail spaces. They are waiting to sell. It would be ideal if the city would step in and try to prompt some development but there are about 10+ major updates/development projects many of them underway. For me it will be great to see a mix of old and new when these are done with a more vibrant downtown when it's done. If you would have filmed one block over in either direction you would have seen some of the development (shops restos ballpark) that is already completed and amazing :)
Why didn’t she show Reno in a positive light? She could have shown the Riverwalk, the Montage and the Whitney Peak is a very nice hotel. Then there’s The Row in Sierra Street. And the university. Reno isn’t perfect but it isn’t depressing.
My great uncle and aunt used to own a Travel Lodge hotel and casino in Reno many years ago... They are both long gone now. I used to love flying out there as a kid and teenager and spending a month with them during the Summers...! Two of my favorite places to go were, Harrah’s firearm collection and his car collection...! They were amazing...! Then when Holiday Inn bought them out, they liquidated several of his assets to recoup some of their money and broke up his collections and then sold them off...! What a shame that was... Stay safe and healthy. Have a great day and be blessed.
Seeing Reno in your vid makes me think that's what I remember seeing when I was a kid and thinking it was Vegas. That was way way way back in like 84 or 85.
My dad was an educator in the Bay Area growing up and his means of getting away and getting completely out of touch with everybody back home was to go to Reno for a few days a couple times a year. So I'm pretty damn familiar with downtown Reno. I actually lived there a few years back for a year, and that's just about the most depressing looking scene I've ever seen.😢

I miss the Little Nugget when the burger was $4-$5 and affordable 20 some years ago not the $13+ burger that existed when it closed due to the TV hype. The place was incredibly dirty and not well run when it closed.
Great update on Reno. Was a good place for business meetings/functions in the 70' & 80's. Nice accommodations, great prices and fun. Sad to see it end like this.
Last time I was Harrah's in Reno was about 20 years ago. My GF at the time were clubbing in downtown SF at 12:30am got bored. So we decided to drive to Reno to gamble. It was also Dec. Nothing like driving over the pass at 3:30am with black ice. Great story though. We won a lot of money on blackjack and got a room. We should have gone to the Harrah's in South Lake.
I loved this video. I went thru Reno as a kid on vacation one summer. The only memory I really have of Reno is of driving under the light up welcome to Reno sign. I really enjoyed you showing and talking about the transition town is going thru
I think the Harrah's up there had a Planet Hollywood resturaunt inside, and that was the enterance to it. Thants why you still see the hand prints on the wall there
Had a great experience at that particular Planet Hollywood. There was a long wait for dinner so I headed to the bar. Talking with the bartender and when he found out where I was from in Michigan asked if I went to Michigan State. Told him yes and it turns out the manager was a fellow Spartan. Met him a few minutes later, skipped the line and got whisked to a VIP table. Actually met some aspiring actresses when leaving who enquired whether I might be a film producer ;
I like the tour, your the real news! Along with your nomad counterparts, I get a real view of life around the country, well out west anyway. I saw your interview with our hero Bob who I hope doubled your fans which I’m now one of!
My old stomping grounds back in the '80's. Shame about it now. Was a really nice town to have a meal, see a show and not spend a whole paycheck. Saddened .......
I am glad you made this video. Years ago I drove through Reno on my way to California and it had its glitter. Visually you have presented the devastation as the result of COVID 19 of Reno which was must sadder as I envision. Thank you for sharing this with us. I live in Connecticut and we do not have such an impact although our two casino are doing poorly. I like your sun glasses.
Yes, my Wednesday gift! I just automatically like even before I watch it! I started following Larry, and I dig him. Thanks for being there. If you make it back to Seattle someday, I'll buy you lunch! No joke! Stay safe out there!
The fun days of Vegas and Reno have come and gone... It will never be the same again... I do feel sorry for everyone that never got to experience Vegas before Wynn and COVID ruined it and same with Reno...
Hey Wonderhussy....if you read this, then allow me to educate you on a couple things. The Whitney Peak high rise, the rock climbing wall has been there over a decade, and the high rise next to it that you said could be in Miami is "The Montage" which is a nice condo/penthouse high rise building that has really nice units (Top two floors are the penthouses: I almost bought one once.) Reno is nice, I appreciate you sharing your experience, if you ever get a chance to check out the Marina in Sparks (10 minute drive East from Downtown Reno) it is really nice. Hopefully you are staying safe during this pandemic and hopefully it won't last too much longer. Take care.
Developers turning low income housing into bull shit over prices "condos".......great. The only place I can afford to live is in the Amboy Cinder Cone. Developers want to build houses at the base of Mount Whitney near Lone Pine.......That sucks. It will be weird to go hiking near new housing developments. I like Lone Pine staying old fashioned.
Sin D the same sort of thing is happening in the Phoenix area. Cheap old neighborhoods being bought up by developers and RE investors replacing them with high cost high rises and apartments. And there’s no shortage of renters and buyers b/c everyone is moving here. It’s no wonder why we have homelessness.

I have a trunkload of Reno memories and while I love all your video adventures, I gotta say this one is special. Thank you.
I agree
Yeah it did used to be MGM and last time I was home it still had a few door knobs with the Lion on them.

@@genehart261 I'm sorry to hear of her passing. I've never married but the idea seems so wonderful. I hope to share my life with s one one some day.

I saw Willie Nelson in Reno many times in the late 70's early 80's as a child with my mom & dad. Willie loved Reno
Reno sure has changed, started before covid. We were there in 2010 so surprised how it changed, alot of homeless, drugs just slum
Back in the 80's Reno was absolutely great. Such fun!!
Tara Tree love. Uh....well it doesn't look a comeback. The exact opposite. This is the downfall.
@@zariballard So there is no housing shortage? Tech companies aren't moving in? I wasn't there Sarah was. What about you?
@@zariballard I'm confused now.
Reno was hopping in the 80s! Sorry to see the OLD Casinos closing. I always liked Reno more than Vegas.
During the 80s Black Jack was the hottest game in town... they done away with Blackjack almost... Reno went downhill ever ever since...they had the gay Rodeo... big mistake... Comstock and other western themed casinos went out of business!
I live in Las Valras, France. There I a casino there that's why I dub it "Las". Average age of the patrons : 65.
Houk, S.
You know I went there on my 21st b-day in the late nineties and the nightlife was amazing! I went back quite a few times in the early 2000s and I always had tons of fun. It really is too bad to see all of these places close down.
Reno is supposed to the town were Max Baer l\Jethro from Beverly Hillbillies tv's show is supposed to be living
I remember a sign on the highway in Western Iowa saying Harold's Club, Reno, Nevada just 1500 miles away.

Those handprints on Harrahs are from the old Planet Hollywood located in Harrahs. I used to work there
The Cowboy Western store in Reno was always an awesome stop for me.
This is so sad, I remember going to Reno back in the day, it was literally a mini Vegas… and so much fun!!
Sad to see it
in this tattered condition.

I seriously don’t get people trying to act like reno fell off. First of all everywhere fell off due to covid. 2.
Same thing that killed Vegas. There are more casinos in California than in Vegas. They're just spread all over the state.
I went to reno in the 90s it was great
There's nothing wrong with Reno, lol.
Sad to see... I lived there for over 20 years. It use to be a great place to live.
It's still a great place to live. That's why there aren't enough places to live and rents and home prices are sky rocketing. People can't judge Reno on downtown, especially since Reno isn't about casinos anymore. Yes there is gambling, but there is much more. That's what is better than Vegas.
I loved Reno. We used to hang out there in the 80's. Drive up from the bay area to hang out and party. Loved it.
Wouldn't fit her agenda.
Why didn’t she show Reno in a positive light? She could have shown the Riverwalk, the Montage and the Whitney Peak is a very nice hotel. Then there’s The Row in Sierra Street. And the university. Reno isn’t perfect but it isn’t depressing.
Yes you are right she only gave a downtown perspective without anything good to say. Depressing views
My great uncle and aunt used to own a Travel Lodge hotel and casino in Reno many years ago...
They are both long gone now.
I used to love flying out there as a kid and teenager and spending a month with them during the
Summers...!
Two of my favorite places to go were, Harrah’s firearm collection and his car collection...!
They were amazing...!
Then when Holiday Inn bought them out, they liquidated several of his assets to recoup some
of their money and broke up his collections and then sold them off...!
What a shame that was...
Stay safe and healthy.
Have a great day and be blessed.
It's sad the casino towns won't be the same ever again. Harrah used to have a good buffet .
Seeing Reno in your vid makes me think that's what I remember seeing when I was a kid and thinking it was Vegas. That was way way way back in like 84 or 85.

People finally got tired of throwing their money away. However, I can't preach that sermon....because in the last 30 years...I've spent thousands on Crack !
I just watched this video.[What Happened In This City?] The city is encouraging with it's "BounceBack.".But,the two of you made it impossible to think about anything but you.Two of the most BEAUTIFUL women on Earth. You both have "Killer Smiles" plus a lot of other charms,TOO. I will say it AGAIN, WONDER HUSSY, Undisputed QUEEN of TH-camrs and OffRoaders.A NATURAL SuperStar.I will watch you as long as you keep doing what you are doing.
All that stuff was closed and in that state well before covid with the exception of the Little Nugget. RIP Nugget.
I miss the "Awful Awful" burger.

Thants why you still see the hand prints on the wall there
You are correct, that is where the Planet Hollywood was and they were left there when they opened the Japanese steak house.
Had a great experience at that particular Planet Hollywood. There was a long wait for dinner so I headed to the bar. Talking with the bartender and when he found out where I was from in Michigan asked if I went to Michigan State. Told him yes and it turns out the manager was a fellow Spartan.
Met him a few minutes later, skipped the line and got whisked to a VIP table. Actually met some aspiring actresses when leaving who enquired whether I might be a film producer ;
Same here. Even the small motels were decent. Not great, but clean and cheap.
I love me some Reno! Very underrated.
I do feel sorry for everyone that never got to experience
Vegas before Wynn and COVID ruined it and same with Reno...
You are tripping
Wow being from upper Midwest I didn't realize things were that bad. Incredible... Hope and pray things improve soon.
