He could have saved even more if he was smart enough to find somewhere to park that doesn't cost $300, that's absurd to me. Or living in any city that's considered expensive... sounds like a place you shouldn't live in but so many people do for some reason.

Extreme couponing was wonderful! I would get $300 worth of groceries for $9. I did this for a few years until the grocery store cracked down on the perfectly legal practice. Once, a cashier even lost her job for refusing my extreme couponing. The manager said it was perfectly legal and she had to do it. She refused and was fired.

@Pineapple Head You combine coupons together that do not state, "Not valid with other coupons and offers." Then you also get coupons that take a percentage of your total sale off. Hold off temptation to use your combined coupons and total percentage off until you are going to make a larger purchase. Keep adding little coupons to your planned purchase here and there as the time of your bigger purchase comes close. Also, look out for dates when you get a percentage off your total purchase. Look for buy 2 get one free. Of course, switching to a cheaper brand that provides an identical product is always good but it is not extreme couponing. But why buy a ridiculous Nike shirt when the Target one is identical and made in the same Chinese sweat shop the Nike shirt was made? The stupid little check mark symbol, Nike features, is not worth double the equal product. Getting a gift card from the store you are going to make your purchase will often get you a percentage off from your purchase when you use your gift card. This one is a very big one. Do not pay cash, credit, nor cheque for your purchase. Use the gift card. Those insignificant discounts compound and make for incredible, totally legal, purchases.
@Pineapple Head It could be from magazines, newspapers, sometimes they just have coupons around the store, just grab them whenever you see them. Remember to watch for the expiration dates
Former cashier here. I normally hated couponer's because they were rude and when their coupons didn't work, they would leave me with 10+ items to put back on the shelves. I was perfectly fine helping them "scam" the company, they made the coupon in the first place, I just didn't like dealing with rude jerks who didn't listen.

My dad bought a lifetime membership for a gym in philidelphia for $500 25 years ago. All he had to do was pay $15 per year for matinance. LA fitness bought out the gym but because he continued paying the $15 per year they had to honor the membership and he now has a lifetime membership to LA fitness for a $15 per year matinance fee.

In high school we used to be able to show the attendance secretary a text message from our parents to verify an “approved absence”. I saved myself in my phone as “Dad” and would send myself texts, delete the sent text until it looked like we were having regular conversations. In those conversations I’d excuse myself for frequent doctors appointments. I’d even yell at myself as my Dad for other things like not taking out the garbage. It worked all 4 years of high school. In my last year I only went to one of my classes 10 times all year and nobody said a word.

At my elementary school before covid I would get a discount on food like lunch costs 4 dollars(?) I would only pay 40 cents because my family didn't make that much.

I live in a one bedroom apartment by myself with two TVs: one in the living room and one in my bedroom. I had cable but only had one cable box, which was for the living room tv, but was able to get cable on both TVs. Back sometime between 2009-2011 (it's been so long I don't remember how long ago I did this), I decided to cut my cable subscription since I was barely watching it. I turned in my cable box and started using a hand me down antenna from a friend for the TV in the living room. I assumed the TV in the bedroom wouldn't work at all so anymore so I never turned it on.
Then after a couple months, I turned on the bedroom TV so I could watch a DVD and discovered that I was still getting cable on it (I never disconnected the cable from the wall). I connect a cable from the wall to the living room TV and discover that it works on that one as well. I call the cable company and tell them that I'm still getting cable even though I cancelled and am no longer paying for it. They asked if I live in an apartment complex and I tell them yes and they say, "That explains it. We don't send technicians to apartment complexes solely for disconnects, they only do disconnects if they are already out there for a connection." I tell them, "Ok. I just wanted to let you know so I don't get accused of stealing it in the future."
It's now 2021 and the free ride finally ended yesterday and only because the cable company is ending all analog channel service and switching to solely digital channels.
Had something similar in my first apartement. I had a TV with a DVD player but never watched cable. As I never payed for it I just assumed it wouldn't work plugging it in. When I finally moved out the cable company called (not related to me moving out) and asked if they couild send someone to seal the outlet. Told them I assumed it didn't work and that it's no use now because the renter after me might want it. They laughed, and thanked me. They even said that I seemed so baffled that they believed me that I didn't use it. And they were right. But still ^^

At a small factory , years ago. I used to punch in an hour early, to make coffee and turn all the lights on ( no one asked me to) got 5 hours of OT , after a couple weeks I started staying an hour late every day too . After about a year my manager and his boss came to see me about it. I told them what I was doing for those hours- the big boss looked at the manger and said if he was any good at his job he would have commended me for my commitment to the company- I worked the 10 hour shift for the 13 years I worked there.
Holy shit, the first guy is totally me!!! Lived in a van, payed 10$ membership for planet fitness open 24 hours was able to shower anytime, worked at the taco bell so I ate for free and I parked my van at for free, ran an electrical line from the light pole I parked next too, also connected too the free taco bell wifi. Holy shit this guy is my double or something.

Back in my college days I interned for one of the Representatives in my state, because my job required a lot of running, he loaned me his legislator parking placard (he never used it) that let me park in a special lot reserved for only state Representatives, Senators and other elected officials. Free prime parking right next to the Capitol steps. Well after my internship was done, I got offered a job at a state agency across the street from the Capitol. When I left the internship I didn't turn in the placard, honestly I just forgot and he never asked for it. Well parking was horrible, cheapest lot you could find was $85 a month and that required you to park over a mile away and take a bus. Sooo...I just kept parking in the Legislator parking lot, did it for six years until I got another job, and then I told one of my buddies about it and passed the placard down. Saved over $6,000 in parking and while everybody else was taking the bus or walking in the rain, I had a leisurely stroll across a parking lot.
The US Mint had difficulty in getting mass adoption -- at a cultural level, I mean -- for the $1 coins. So they were allowing people to buy them from the mint at face value. People would purchase thousands of dollars worth on a credit-card, then deposit the currency into their bank, pay off the balance, but keep the airline miles. It was a great loophole scam for a while.
Any pizza place near my work is extremely expensive, like 40$ for a "large" 16 inch with a couple toppings, just one. However the gas station across the street has a full kitchen and they make pizza better than most other pizza places but apparently I'm the only person that knows this. Their meat lovers 18" pizza is only 9$ so at lunch I order 2 to 4 pizzas for our work van and everyone chips in 5$ for the pizza. It comes in a generic box exactly like the most expensive pizza place so everyone thinks that's what I'm getting and say how great it is, but when they go get it themselves they complain how expensive it is and how they always mess up the order. Consequently they all believe I'm some great guy losing money buying everyone lunch and have some inside secret to getting them to make the good pizza when I'm actually just getting gas station pizza. It's been 7 years.

The one at 19:34 made me nervous. I had a legitimate parking pass at college that I paid for, but it didn't fit around my rearview mirror stem like it was supposed to because of my mirror's design. I made a (Good-looking almost original) copy of the pass so that I wouldn't feel bad about tearing it a little to put it on the mirror.
The very day I hung the copy up, my car was booted when I left class to go home. I had to take my legitimate parking pass to the security office and explain why I made a copy and that no one else was using the original pass. Had to show that the car was registered in the same name as the pass itself, and they were still suspicious. They finally unbooted my car, but I think they even charged me the fee that they pay a towing company for booting/unbooting. Complete pain!

Back in the 90's I remember both Sprite and Pepsi/Mt Dew did a thing where you could win a free 20 oz by looking under the bottle cap. But, if you held the bottle to the light you could actually see right through the cap to tell which ones were winners! I think it was Sprite that added an additional plastic piece under the cap so you couldn't do it AS EASILY, but still very possible. We really would go through all the sodas, holding them up to the light, then buy just one and use that cap to get another which had a winning cap then use that cap to get another with a winning cap and so on. All you needed was to buy that first winner 🤣🤣🤣
Holy freaking crap!! I randomly was recommended this video and was thinking about the late 90’s, early 2000’s when my grandpa would buy me a soda. I’d literally have infinite sodas off of one purchase. Nice to know I wasn’t the only person that discovered this.
I used to work as a note taker at my university (for students with disabilities). The pay rate was quite good, and we got paid for lecture hours and typing hours (same number of hours as lecture). There were some 3 hour lectures that were finished in less than one hour, and took less than 15 minutes to type up the notes. About 60-70 minutes of work for 6 hours of pay. Lucrative deal. On some days, I could clock 10-12 hours after having done about 2-3 hours of actual work.

I got into an argument once, arguing that I should be able to count ELA as a foreign language, since technically the US doesn't have an official language, making all languages foreign. I still had to take spanish

The college in the same town I went to high school in had a stated admission requirement of "two years of foreign language or proof of proficiency". Didn't bother to say that the test for proficiency tested two years of the *same* language, so In high school I took a year of German and a year of Latin (concurrently).
I finally got them to agree that Fortran counted as a foreign language, probably because it was developed in Toronto.

My school actually has a foreign language requirement, at least 2 years of one to graduate. I took Data Processing at the Vocational school (comprised of many different schools in the area) my 11th and 12th grade but still had to meet our "home school" requirements. Little did they know that in the requirement section it was specified that a computer language was considered a "foreign language". Part of Data Processing were the languages of DOS, Basic, FORTRAN, COBOL, and RPG, yup graduated with 5 separate foreign language credits, and at the time only knew how to count to 10 in Japanese because my Father was stationed in Okinawa at one point in his service, and not a single lick of anything other than English.

i heard a story where some random person got a company card in the mail and could spend $200 on it every month before it would get declined. the person telling the story said he worked at the company and asid that there was nothing they could do but deactivate it. he heard it though the grape vine.
If some outfit accidentally sends you a card without you agreeing to the terms, it's difficult for them to collect on it. It's not a collectable debt, their only option is to sue you for fraud. (which they could probably win) But usually it's just not worth their effort to do so. Their legal group is set up for collecting on non-payment, not that sort of fraud, so you'd require the exclusive attention of one of their attorneys. Considering the sheer amount he got though, I'm surprised they didn't go after him.
@@virt1one Honestly dude I'd think it's not real, credit cards are so easily traced to the stores where money was spent and almost every store has cameras, although they perpetrated that it was "many moons ago" I dunno, I just think it's all "too easy" in that case.
@@FakieStreams Well, it sounds like the employee just took the card and sent him on his way, so they no longer had any way of verifying who he was. Furthermore, the bank is not the police, so I highly doubt they have the authority to search store security cameras. And the amount of time and effort that would take wouldn't be worth it for the company. And since the only way to get the money at that point is through a court, the cardholder would have a pretty strong defense of "they never charged me."
When I was in high school, I would drive to the store in the morning and buy boxes of cosmic brownies for around $2 each, I would then get to school and sell each brownie to random students for $1 each, each package had 6 brownies. I made well over $400 before the school threatened to sue me for selling food items without a license. I think they were just mad because I screwed over their overpriced fundraisers. I continued to sell brownies in the parking lot before school because it wasn’t on school property until I graduated.

In high school I used to sell single shot bottles of alcohol for 5 bucks when I used to get them in a case of 12 for 10 bucks. I'd easily go through 6-10 cases a week. I didn't have the pressure on me like the drug dealers did because the drug dogs they walked through the lockers didn't sniff for alcohol.

In college, I once took an art appreciation class. In the next room over was the same class taught by a different professor. One of his students threw a massive tantrum that we could hear through the wall separating us and got kicked out of the class. Since we used the same textbook and I couldn't afford one from the campus book store, he was willing to sell me his for $10. Turns out he had rented the book for $230. At the end of the semester, I took it to the campus book store to see what would happen and they bought it back for $88 and he got billed hundreds for not returning his rental textbook. I bought the textbook for 1/23 of the price and sold it back for 880% profit, and that idiot had no choice but to pay the school a huge amount of money because he can't return his book.

had a similar experience to the last one in highschool They required 2 out of three classes (physical science, Physics, or Chemistry) took physical science in 9th grade which was a mix of both and learned that I sucked at chemistry so I took physics my Junior year and avoided Chemistry. My senior year I got called into the office and was told I didn't have the Chemistry credit so i needed to take that class pointed out that i had the other two of the three and got out of it. Had it explained to me later why they were confused the wording was in there because physics was considered an advanced class so there was supposed to be an option between physics and physical science but they didn't expect anyone to take physics to avoid chemistry so it was all worded together as science credits.

i had a free coupon to chick fil a for something that sounded gross and something that sounded good so i got the good thing and gave the gross coupon to a homeless guy. they where only good on a specific date (not the same date) witch i found really bazar
I take cat naps in church while at work. Finding peace and quiet during break is basically impossible in a hospital and I have yet to meet a single person in there. Been doing it for years.

My loophole I found is that if you do bad in school then do really good you can get rewarded so much
When I was a kid the old 80s style gum ball machines at hannaford were always broken. Likely from kids breaking the hand cranks trying to see if someone accidentally left a quarter inside of it. It was always a good treat because hannaford refused to fix them so for the 6 years I lived in that area myself and my siblings would get as much ‘free’ skittles, m&m’s, gum balls and cheap toys from those machines as our hands can carry. It got soo bad that hannaford had to pull staffing just to keep watch over the machines to scold parents for having their kids stealing candy. Years later when i moved back into the area as a teenager in a foster home, I found out that the crankshafts were still broken. But this time, absolutely no one cared. So having some concept of how bad theft was, I left that gum ball in the machine and left with a smile thinking about all the times I got free candy.
As a 26 year old, I would have absolutely still stolen the sweets.
Back when cassette tapes were the thing and we used to copy tapes from friends’ collections or make mix tapes, I saw an ad from the Mormon church where you could call a 1-800 number and they would send you a free cassette tape called ‘God’s Holy Plan.’ It was pretty long and had some religious stories on it. We would make multiple calls and give them our address but say a different name each time. They never caught on and we would get dozens of free tapes to erase and record over
LMFAO I used to do the same thing but with free mail order religious introductory VHS tapes so that I could use them to record broadcast movies... Lol.
Also, I had learned early as a kid that I could hook my rooms' VCR up to the living room VCR in series to not only copy VHS tapes from the library/blockbuster, but also trim the commercial breaks from broadcast recordings.
I bet that was helpful in the "satanic panic" too. A mixtape full of Megadeth, Iron Maiden etc, but the label says "God's Holy Plan"

Back in the day when cigarette machines were common, the was an older brand of machine that was completely mechanical so they could put them anywhere because they didn't have to be plugged in. You would put your money in the coin slot, and then pull the handle below the brand you wanted (the handle pulled out about a foot), and when you let the handle go, it slammed back into place and your cigarettes dropped into the tray.
If instead of just letting the handle go, you very slowly pushed it back in, you could stop it just as the cigarettes fell, then pull it back out and it would reset and load another pack. As long as you could keep hitting that sweet spot where it would reset, you could get pack after pack for the price of one pack. If you went a hair too far, it didn't work. I could usually get at least two or three free packs, and my record was six. Haven't seen one of those particular machines for years, but I bet there's still a few around, and that trick still works.

I remember those old machines, there used to be one in the laundromat my mother went to, sometimes when I was bored I would pull on those knobs just to see how it worked and to make noise. This was far enough back that I still remember my mother saying when they raised the soda machine price to a quarter that she would never buy one again.
When I worked at the convenience store I noticed a pattern to scratch offs. Usually every few tickets on the roll was a small winner but there would be bigger prizes after a group of losers. If there were a lot of losses in a row I'd buy 1 ticket at a time until I won something, if it was a small prize it was the wrong pattern so I stopped no matter what I won. I didn't make a lot doing that, it wasn't the big big prizes it was the $25 or $50 wins on the $1 tickets but I definitely made more than I lost. They eventually made rules to stop it so I guess I wasn't the only one that noticed and took advantage.
I worked at the gas station for like 2 yrs. They have a program where employees take training will be rewarded with discount price on gas (like saving 0.03/gallon). Then I found out you could do the training as many times as you like so I could stack up all those discounts to make it literally $0/gallon. I did this for my families and friends for like whole year until they took the training program down.
In high school i argued programming was a language and it was foreign to me and I passed and got graduated without a country foreign language

Dude that was a mistake. You should've learned a 2nd language for real, it's so easy when you're young. When you're older it becomes twice harder to learn a new language.

Moved into an apartment with my wife, lived there 6 months , decided to hook up the cable line, just for giggles.
It worked, cable company had no regulation, and apartment complex didn't know what to do. Buddy gave me a digital cable box, cause everything was going digital.
So we had free cable for 3 years.

I did security at a low end 🏘 place in metro Orlando FL, 2000s. I had a good relationship with a cable tech, free lance guy. He said a few times, if I wanted basic cable, he'd install it 📺 then add all the cable premium channels; Showtime, HBO, Cinemax, Starz, etc. ✔ I used a regular antenna but the offer was 🤔....

The two languages requirement is even worst for deaf people, at least from my experience. So I grew up already knowing English, SEE, ASL, was learning bits of different languages and sign languages in other countries. In high school, they told me I had to take a language class, I asked why?
" I have to take it, its a requirement. "
I'm staring at my interpreter and them. In my mind, I'm thinking "is sign language not a valid language???" So I told them, I already know English, SEE, and ASL (since they were the languages I was most proficient in if they had to test me)

A bit of backstory. I was in their school system from 2 years of preschool then K-12 while having interpreters they provided and being taught Engilsh and sign languages in their school. I had very good interpreters over the years, looking back, I realize they were extremely educated, I believe they all had degrees and was probably more than qualified than the teachers at the school on every subject. Anyway, I had to get the certifications from home that I knew they had in their system. They didn't accept it so I asked them can you prove you know English?? This just went into borderline argument until I caved in and just gave up to accept a Spanish class. The school would not let me take any class except a languages class, I believe they enforce this just because schools needed budget money. Schools get more money allocated to their budget per student in classes as well different subjects.
I worked at a large supermarket as one of those people who give out free samples, but I was employed by a different company altogether. [That is, I wasn't actually a grocery store employee.] Since I had no coworkers, and my boss only came around about once a month (at the end of my shift) to check on things, I could go sit in the break room or go to the back room area where my work equipment was stored, and I could basically do jack-all for the whole shift, if I wanted, and get paid for it. The supermarket managers had nothing to do with me, and they were so busy managing the store that they didn't keep tabs on anything I did. It came in very handy on days when I had migraines or was too stressed out to deal with people for the day. I didn't do this too often, but when you feel like your head's going to explode, being able to take a nap behind some shelves while getting paid is quite nice.
Also, I got to keep all the freebies that didn't get given out, so I frequently had free stir fry, soap, yogurt, ice cream, pizza, and more, on top of everything else.

During high school, they had an anti-electronics policy. It was an accumulative system; if you got caught with your phone, you had to go to the main office and give up your phone until the end of the school day. Second offense, third offense, etc. It's been so long that I don't remember it all anymore. The important part is that there was way too many kids for them to care enough to make sure the phone was actually yours. So I just gave them one of my old broken smartphones and kept the one I was using

I purchased used games at GameStop, play them for a few days, and returned them on the 7th day, purchase them again, and repeat until I either beat the game or wanted to trade them. Did this all throughout middle school and most of 9th grade until I got old enough to get a job. For almost 4 years I've played at least 40 games and spent about $120.

When I was at elementary school (up to year 6 here) we had "projects" once a week that didn't took place in our usual classes, but with a mix of different classes, also with students from a year above or below.
I figured that the teachers in those projects never checked up if students had been missing for the entire day or just this lesson. So as long as it was JUST you and nobody else from your usual class in that project, nobody would be able to tell them, you just skipped.
I took advantage of that twice in like 5th grade.

I had a teacher that used quizzes that came with the textbook website. I discovered this early on and always made A’s on the quizzes. Didn’t tell my classmates because if we all suddenly made A’s he would catch on.
We have an english homework workbook that we do in an app. i found out that u can change the color of the pages and the answers show up in white. I haven’t had to do my homework all year.
I had a ton of teachers in high school who just used quizzes that had all of the answers available online. Tons of kids knew about this and would cheat, especially since a lot of the quizzes were even taken online since this was only around five years ago and each student had a school laptop, and a lot of the teachers would just sit at the front of the room without ever wandering around the room to be able to see that they had Quizlet or whatever pulled up on their screen while taking the quiz. Plenty of the teachers knew about this but just didn't get paid enough to give a fuck
We had this science teacher in middle school that used the quizes that you could find on internet. Immediately everyone in my classroom became aware of this, so we printed every exam we could find and solved together, explaining eachother our solutions. At first my teacher did not liked it, but later allowed us to do this as we tend to work together as a group.
Whats more ridiculous is that we had a national middle school graduation exam, and every question we had was taken straight from internet and our coursebooks. I had like only 3 wrong answers, 2 from history, 1 from English language.

This one was HUGE: a couple years ago I worked in a POS company (credit card machines). They had this partnership with some banks, and when a small company or a freelancer opens an account, they would offer them a POS machine. Some business categories had a very special privilege: receiving payment from cards generated by government financing landed by the same banks, destined to agribusiness and infrastructure companies. A couple guys working in one of the banks' agencies found out that they could create POS machines to ghost/inactive accounts and used this to generate those kind of cards and pass through those POS with huge limits with no questions asked. They used to wash and clean A LOT of money for god knows who. Around 15 million bucks in 6 months or so. Until I started to see a pattern in some of the accounts that we receive it in our minimum wage call center and collect enough data to bust the scheme. Was totally automatic, no one had to approve or verify those ghost accounts and the movimentation of millions created by government banking. No one noticed before myself. They're in jail now.

As an active heroin user I used to exploit the loop hole of love and care from others. Its real easy...you get addicted then lie and rob and manipulate everyone around you and you use their love and care for you to keep it going until they get fed up and evict you from their lives permanently. But it took a real long time, like 20 years before that loop hole closed up on me.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups had a sweepstakes when I was a kid, I don't remember the details just that it had to do with some racecar driver. Anyway, there was a chance to win a huge prize, but there was also the lesser more common prize of winning another free pack of the peanut butter cups. My friend figured out that if you held them up to the light you could see through the packaging and see which ones gave free packs. For the price of 1 pack my friend and I ate at least 2-3lb of them before the store banned us... they couldn't figure out how we kept winning.
Just remembered another "loop hole" I'm not proud of this one as I am about getting unlimited peanut butter cups but it goes like this... I was in the principal's office in 6th grade about to be suspended for fighting when I overheard the vice principal and principal talking about how due to California budget cuts they couldn't afford to hold kids back regardless of their grades. This was at the beginning of the school year, after hearing that I put it to the test and didn't do 1 homework assignment for the rest of the year and still advanced to the next grade the following year with almost a 0 gpa.
Last one I promise lol... So some of you might remember a game called Gunbound that was popular 10+ years ago, similar to the game Worms. Well, they had an event in which every time you ranked up you were rewarded with cash shop items like epic attack modifiers... the thing is they didn't take into account that you lost exp for leaving matches... aka you could derank and the very next match level up again and receive the cash shop reward again. A friend and I farmed this exploit like no tomorrow and both ended up with over $50,000 worth of free cash shop items. We both became top players in the game because we could literally use the items every single turn.

I was at a campground with my family.
There was an arcade with about nothing except for an air hockey table. I accidentally pressed the start button and it started to play. My cousin was there and we played the game and hit the button again and it worked. During the whole trip we spent a long time playing air hockey for free.
Once when I was younger I signed up for Universal Credit, a support system in the UK that would pay you for searching for work. You had a work coach who would check in and make sure you were actually searching for work. Anyway, after a few weeks, before I even got the first payment, which was £250 a month, so about $325, I got bored and decided to just stop and told the work coach as much. Apparently they forgot to actually cancel my payments because a few weeks later, I received £250. Same time next month, another £250. I stayed silent, and about a year later the payments stopped.
For the next few weeks I practically stared at the mailbox expecting a letter telling me I owe them somewhere about £3,000, never got a word about it.
For that last one about foreign language in high school. My high school was the same way. 2 years of a foreign language wasn't actually required to graduate, but it was HIGHLY encouraged to the point where it was almost required because it was either a requirement to get into college, or it would just look really really bad on your college application if you didn't have those two years.
That one feels more like shooting yourself in the foot than a loophole. Out of all the classes you could skip in High School, you choose one of the few that will actually give an applicable real world skill.

I got one that saves me a ton of money (or technically time and effort) on beer. I live like a minute drive away from a dashmart warehouse that charges less based on the popularity of some items with dashpass, like beer. Most people apparently want to get a good bang for their buck when using doordash so usually the 24+ cases are a good deal more per ounce than the 12 cases because they're more commonly bought. It's to the point where it's cheaper than most grocery stores if you get the 12s. There's no limit on number of items even "on sale or couponed" items so I just order a bunch of the 12cases. I also have a friend who lives in my neighborhood that works for doordash. Can you see where this is going? Long story short, they get doordash's wage, my 5 dollar tip for like 5 minutes of work and I get tons of beer delivered to me for the same price as if I went out to get it myself. Everyone, except doordash, wins.

Back in the early 2000's before you needed a box to decode the signal, we canceled the TV service and they never came to cut the cable, had free $90 TV for over 10 years, then they switched to coded signal or something and the screen said you needed to rent a box to watch.
During Highschool when used to catch the train, I was using the old hole-punch ticketing system 🎫
Whenever the inspector would puncture my ticket, I’d pick up the paper stamp from the ground and stick it back into my ticket with a bit of saliva.
This would work on the same ticket up to 2-3 times before the ticket looked too munted.
This one month we were low on funds, so I had to prolong my ticket’s life. I managed to put my ticket back together 7 times with a great amount of precision, until one day the inspector came along to stamp my ticket, and he did it on an angle where the ticket literally exploded into confetti.
He stared at his hands for a good 5 seconds utterly bewildered what just happened, then back at me with a strange look.
I blamed the ticket straight away and he gave me a new one with the same amount of stamps.
One time in like 8th grade, it was a mythology class I think, and for one project we had to compile a small portfolio of literature with mythological references in it. And nothing simple like song lyrics or shoe brands--it had to be actual literature or poetry. And we had to have a *lot* of references.
So I started asking questions about what qualified---Could I count multiple references within a single work? Are contemporary authors off the table? Does it matter who the author is?

So I made myself the author. I wrote my own friggin' huge poem with all the references I needed, and---since she had said herself the author didn't matter---she let it pass.

still working loophole: when you're playing games, don't want to watch ads and don't want to turn internet off, you can set the play store/browser to never open anything by standard, so when you click the add, it will ask you if you want to open it in play store or your browser, and stop playing the add (because you technically you already opened it) but you can press back/press anywhere in the screen to close the popup, and the game will resume without the add, works with unity ads, as far i tested

Once when I was about 8 I lucked into figuring out how to get jackpots on a particular fruit machine.
Those old machines used to use the nudges as a check to make sure the wheels were properly aligned.
If you didn't use the nudges it expected 2-3 times in a row, it assumed the wheels were miss-aligned and reset the positions.
The reset positions on many of these machines was the jackpot.
One day feeling a bit chaotic I decided to push the nudges as far from a win as possible. It worked. :D

While going to college and registering for classes, the college would want a payment schedule set up or for the fees to be payed under the balance of $1000 dollars before the first month of classes were over or else they would kick me out of classes. I never has the money but I figured out that if you set up a payment schedule and cancelled it a couple days after, then you only had to pay the beginning payment and they couldnt kick me out of classes since it was past that specific date. I would then have the entire semester to gather money slowly to pay the college and do it all over again the following semester. The first few times I did this I had also found out that I could make a payment schedule, cancel it, and make a payment schedule for the same balance that was due the previous semester. This allowed me to get halfway through college before they moved their payment plans to a 3rd party that cannot be exploited this way.

I had a moment like this when burger king first opened in my country they had a promo on your receipt where you do survey for a free whopper burger with your next purchase . The catch is its was with any purchase. When me and my girlfriend discovered this randomly when we went there for some soft serve and ended up staying there for the next hour ordering cones and doing surveys with the new receipt and came home with 20 free whoppers that night. Even the cashier was so impressed that they agreed to give all of the cones once we decided we were done. Gave her a genorous tip as a thank you. When we got to my house my family started screaming "Oprah, Oprah Oprah Oprah" like that Trevor noah joke the promotion continued for a about a year switching it the items out every couple of months.

i got sick as a kid and was home schooled and not allowed to attend school day to day. this made me dive very deep into video games. this was about 2008-2016
gamestops return policy was "if you beat a game or didnt like it, if returned within 1 week you get full money back of instore credit as long as it was a used game" so every sat/sun i would go into gamestop with 60$ and pick 2 30$ games. i would return then grab 2 new games. if i didnt beat a game but i still wanted to play it. i would grab the same game every other week till i beat it. i repeated this process for so long and so often i got on a first name bases with the staff. and they let me just take games home from time to time without buying it because they knew id be back. so this is also how 12yr old me got to try the new COD before it even released.
At university, a bar down the street from campus that was actually relatively expensive as it was one of those bougie inner city bars, ran a promotion outside where a guy would give you a paper wristband with a buy any drink, get another free token printed on it... They cut the wristband off when it was redeemed.
Anyway, me and a few friends on graduation night turned up as the promoter was finishing his shift and he handed me basically a stack of these wristbands he'd been given to hand out. There were about 10 bar staff members working that night, so what we did was after the offer was redeemed, went back to our table, slapped another wristband on and got served by another staff member to get another set of drinks for very little. Apart from the fact I shared them out with my friends and lecturers, I can't remember much about the night past that point except that the deal was applying to their cocktails too.

Back in 2014 out of nowhere their bill dropped from almost 400 Reais a month to between 40 and 80. Mind you, this made their huge house where five people lived in pay _less_ for electricity than my tiny ass apartment with 1 occupant. Their electricity meter had simply broken.
They felt it could be dangerous and lead to malfunction and they didn't really want the trouble that could come from this, even legally whenever the company realized it, so the next time the meter was taken they warned the officer of the problem... Officer basically said "'k imma look into it" and never did so. They warned three more officers over the next months and even called the company to inform them that something had to be wrong with their energy meter... The company basically didn't bother with it, and at this time they already knew for sure whatever had broken in the meter wasn't affecting the house electricity at all, so they just gave up and accepted it.
It took three years for someone in the company to notice _something_ was wrong, at which point they tried to demand my parents pay up for the projected missing money (which at this point was around 20 thousand bucks) and for a new meter... But they gave up on that once they were given all the protocols for calls and emails my parents had sent asking them to fix it. So the company changed the meter to one that actually works now and that was the end of it.

Well, I have a similar story except it's not about free electricity but a TV company. So we {my parents} sold out our old apartment and bought a new one. Proceeded to reissue all the arrangements to a new owner's name. Went fine with all but that TV service provider that was recently acquised by a larger company in a region (a monopolist at the time actually). They promised to look into our case and get back to us, never did, we then tried to resolve it several times with that bigger company, showed them the old contracts with the previous owner but they never could find it in their database throughout 3 years (yeah, we really didn't want to be charged any fees for using service for free so we kept trying for quite a while). I believe be moved when I was 19 and now I'm 28 and my parents still don't see any bills for it (I moved out to live with my gf-at-the-time and honestly don't see why you mignt need a tv service when you have an active internet connection, HDMI cable and subscription to any of the streaming services).
There was a glitch in the Sims Freeplay (mobile) that let you buy free baby cribs from the baby store, that you could then sell for 500 simoleons. I exploited this to the MAX, my little sims were living large, and I lived vicariously through them. Unfortunately, I lost the phone with that save and I believe they patched it in another update. Ill always remember those good times ♥️
My friend was an electrician and I told him that I thought I was getting ripped off on electricity by my landlord in my apt building in 2001. We went to the basement and he hooked up the electric in reverse so I received credits each month until the balance was paid. Didn't pay electric for a couple of years until I moved out. The sane guy climbed a telephone pole and hooked me up with free cable in 1999. The neighbor came out and started yelling because his was cut off. He climbed the pole again and fixed it.
I have Tourettes' syndrome, which I included a few noisy tics. In high school, my teachers were told that if my Tourrete's started acting up, I could be sent to "detention". In detention there were little rooms with nothing but a desk and computer. This way if we had assignments that required the internet, I wouldn't be left behind. So, naturally, whenever we had a quiz or test in any of my classes I would purposely trigger my Tourettes, get sent to the detention hall with my exams--and then proceed to Google every last answer for a near perfect score (to ease suspicion), and then wipe the internet history. Never got caught.
When the Apple AirPods Pro first launched I bought them right away, after about 10 months of owning them I watched a TH-cam video detailing how a guy managed to get them replaced under warranty for free with customer service.
Apparently with the first versions there was a factory defect that a lot of the units had so Apple offered to replace them for free if you had owned them for under a year.
So that same day I contacted support and told them about a “bug“ that was happening with one of my earbuds and they took a deposit for the value of it and shipped a new one. The condition was that I would ship the old one back and they would return my money. After testing that, I did the same process for the second one and essentially got a brand new pair of AirPods almost a year after the original purchase. I still have them to this day and they work great, I just wish I had done the same with the case because it doesn’t hold charge as well anymore but it has engraving that I didn’t want to lose.
I did the same thing, bought a cheap faulty pair from eBay and got them replaced for a new one for free.
My school never cancelled my gsuite account so I can continue to get all those free educational account offers till today, and I have unlimited gdrive storage. I graduated 6 years ago hehe

We had a restaurant that treated all of us like crap. Kept promising us stuff and then they would open a store. Managers ran me through all the things we COULD do for customer satisfaction without any approval so when I quit I told everyone I knew all these things. After a month all the customer satisfaction rules were rolled back and everyone realized what a prick the owner was. He’s apperently doing really well now and sold all the other franchises and treats his one stores employees like gold.
An acquaintance showed me many years ago how to exploit a glitch in the system on the early game DL platforms.
Basically, he had two credit cards, one was working, the other wasn't (inactive, expired or something). He went on the platform, bought a game to download, typed in his normal card which the system ofc accepted. Then he clicked on 'change order info', then typed in the invalid card. The system didn't check if this card was working or not, so by the time the money would be drawn from his account (1-2 days later) the order was refused, but he had already DL'ed the game by then.
When my dad went to college or something there was a soda machine around the corner of his school and if you put $1 it would give you your soda of choice, plus $2 in change. The soda was ¢50.
My college was full of rich kids, and it was exprnsive to attend. We, bunch of poor kids with high scores attended there for free.
For months the soda machine was broken and gave both the money you put in and the soda. There was always bunch of money in the change hole, so we just put our hands there and got free change whenever we want.

I know of a vending machine that used to be in a Walmart that would give you 8 water bottles for $0.50.

They answer. You ask if (your own name) is there and they say "yes, but they're out rn." You say " OK, well when they return, tell him that some fuckwit broke into their house. Actually, on second thought, he already knows. YOU'RE TALKING TO HIM RIGHT NOW ASSHOLE!"
I have a few.
1. In high school, my football team used to sell discount cards to local restaurants. The discounts on the card could be used as long as the card is valid (~1 year). One of them was a Mexican place that was close to my parents' house. The discount was a buy one-get one burrito. I used that a bunch during the year until the new card came out. Apparently, I used it too much and they changed the discount. That didn't work for me so I got a new discount card, double sided taped it to the old one, and used it about 10 times before the cashier caught me. Got lots of free burritos.
2. In college, we had catalogs of classes we needed in order to graduate that came out every two years. There was this one class (dynamics) which was the hardest/most failed class and was rumored to be getting phased out in future catalogs, but it never happened in the 4 years I was supposed to be there. However, due to a study abroad not satisfying all the requirements (that's another good story), I had to take an extra term. The third available catalog had a change to it. I talked to my department chair and he allowed me to substitute the super hard class for an easier one that the department wanted to pivot in the direction toward (data analytics). My friends legit hated me for doing it.
3. In college, there was a class I had to take where there were three options for grades. You could pass the test and do a project for an A, pass the test for a C, or fail the class. I didn't want to do the projects assigned, but I noticed the professor didn't have any closed captions on here lecture TH-cam videos. I offered her to close caption them for a grade by saying I'd be listening more than others and she agreed to give me a B for it. I waited until the end of finals week to do it and when I was almost done, there were videos that I couldn't add the captions for. I emailed my professor and she told me she's still giving me the B, but she was going to re-record her videos and I don't have to worry about it anymore.
4. This one is still going on. I live near where I work and I turned my boss and some other coworkers onto a sandwich place by me. My boss loves getting the sandwiches and he always sends me to get them. When I go, he sends me with his credit card, but I always get the stamps on my stamp card. I'm almost at 5 free sandwiches already.
I found this out accidentally.
Years ago when Toys R Us was still in business, I bought some toys online for my young nephews. There were some “web-only deals” with discounts of up to 40% on some toys if you purchased them via their online store.
It turns out the kids didn’t like what I’d bought them and wanted to get something else. So we went to the local Toys R Us brick and mortar store to ask whether we could get an exchange or refund. They ended up giving us store credit for the FULL price of the toys, not the heavily discounted “online deal” price, and so this loophole could be exploited for an extra 40% in store credit!
Winco had a promotion through my college which included 2 free pringles cans, 2 free 5 lb. bags of cereal, 2 free beef jerky, 2 free containers of winco brand cookies, 2 free 12 packs of cup noodles, and 2 free boxes of clif bars... no purchase necessary. So I snuck to a nearby building and grabbed a few hundred fliers then got all 11 of my roommates to go to winco with me. We took 4 trucks and filled the backs of all of them entirely without spending a single cent. Literally had enough food for all 12 of us for the entire year and made gave tons to local homeless people as well.
I basically don’t pay for drinks at fastfood chains I order my food thru their screens they have in store and walk up to the counter to ask for a cup of drink lmao

We used to have a payphone outside my store. It was set up to work on a nickel, but most people just put in a quarter because other payphones were like that. After a couple of years, it got damaged, and was being replaced by the phone company. One of the managers asks the guy, "Will it still work with a nickel?" He sets it to work on only quarters. That manager cost me 20 cents a call for years after that, until I got a cell phone.
There was a soda pop machine at a retail store that sold the retailer's own soda brand. If you put in a nickel it gave you back a quarter. Could turn a 2 dollar roll of nickels into 10 dollars. Also a penny would give you a dime, the dime would get you a nickel and the nickel would get you the quarter. Super exploit. Did this through all of highschool until they removed the machines in the mid 2000s.
In the third grade we had little papers almost like tickets that were given to us and the more we had the more points we could get on our lowest grades. Well they were on a white sheet of paper so I took them, threw them in the printer, and had enough copies to maintain an A average for everything. Eventually however, they started numbering them..
At my school, there were these vending machines that were broken since it just spit back the quarters that you put in, what most people didn't know was that when you put a quarter in and it came back out from the bottom, the system considered it as being taken in and so i just kept putting it in and then taking it from the bottom then putting it back in and the values started to stack and then all you had to do was press cancel and it returned all the money, I'd made almost 50 bucks from just one quarter, I think some kids later realized that it did that and the school fixed it quickly

idk if it counts but in my high school in belgium, we have vending machines that sell waffles (obviously), some drinks, candy and other snacks. the thing is that if whatever you bought (except drinks because they have a different kind of machine) gets stuck inside, you get to reenter the number of the item you bought and it would try to drop it again. So what i do is purposefully try to get one that looks like it will not fall and get 2 for the price of 1. it's not easy to see wich ones to pick but i've managed to do it pretty consistently for a while now.
I love the heated garage one! That person was resourceful.
I had a loophole once. When Amazon was still somewhat new, they put out coupons for $10 with no minimum on what you purchased, and you only needed an email address to use the coupon. I bought a whole bunch of $10 stuff. Of course, Amazon was mostly books back then, but I did get a few other things like a cribbage board.

I never paid a dime for netflix until they update their security. I used to get cards from walmart like gift cards. Put money on them. Spend it on xbox stuff. Then take the empty card, make a new email, set up Netflix account, put in empty card, and dont get charged because the money doesn't exist.
