So in my sophomore year at my all-girls Catholic high school in 2010, we watched She's Too Young in health class, and my friends and I were like, "Is that... Emma Nelson??!!" In any case, She's Too Young became iconic for my entire sophomore class because of how insane and unintentionally hilarious it was. So happy it wasn't just a fever dream!!

I grew up in the Toronto area, graduated high school in 2013. Everyone in Toronto has some kind of Degrassi-adjacent story. On a day in class when nothing was happening, I was watching a Degrassi episode on my laptop. The guy behind me pointed out one of the extras. The extra was a girl in my grade, in my class, sitting literally 2 rows behind me. And I went to summer camp with the girl who "Kiss and Cry" were based on, as well as her sisters. They were all really sweet. Sarah Fisher also happened to be close friends with the girl, she had a big part in the production of the movie.
Degrassi may have introduced many of us to your channel, but the quality of your videos is what will keep us coming back even if it's not about quarter century old Canadian teen dramas.
Something that might be fun would be to do a "Where are they now?" segment for child actors of the past that are still in the business. Clearly, I started this thought from a Degrassi standpoint (and I find it really funny Cassie Steele is on Rick and Morty), but you could do others from Lifetime movies. Or Lacey Chabert (Gretchen from Mean Girls) being in a bunch of these Lifetime movies. Admittedly, I don't know how large this pool will be, but it's a start.

It makes me giddy with excitement to see a deserving creator make their breakthrough, and be a (small) part of it. Another great video - I think you're at your best when you cover this obscure stuff, because there's no established narrative so you get to cover it from which ever angle you like. Even Degrassi, which is far from obscure, isn't covered much outside its own fandom circles.
My favorite is Emma's two line cameo in Orphan Black. I remember she was in the preview for the episode, and they kinda made it seem like she was gonna be a guest star, but she had an utterly forgettable two line cameo that anyone could have played.

I remember seeing "She's to young". I had just started watching Degrassi next generation 3 years prior, so I was excited to see these characters in other movies after the fact. Considering that I was a teen at the time, I actually loved the movie. I haven't seen it since that one time on TV in 2004.
I used to LOVE Devil’s Diary!!!! The main character is even played by Alexz Johnson who sang the Degrassi theme song in later seasons. Also worth noting that Alexz Johnson is actually a super talented singer and led her own show called Instant Star where she played a teen pop-rock star. It had the same showrunners/producers/writers as Degrassi so I definitely recommend checking it out as well LOL.

I have been unintentionally watching movies starring Degrassi stars. I just put on She's Too Young and let it play. I watched Dog Pound starring Spinner (Shane Kippel), Boot Camp starring Mr. Oleander from Degrassi, and Do Not Reply with Lola. There are so many of them! I hope you can include these in your part 3.

Just a random fact about Kiss and Cry (I know you didn’t focus on it in the video but still interesting) Sarah Fisher was actually best friends with the girl, Carley Allison, she was portraying in the movie.
MAY I SUGGEST: "Stage Fright" featuring Ephraim Ellis, although he's only a supporting character. It's a horror movie musical set at a musical theater camp, and Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf are also there. The music is hilarious, and it's one of those movies that knows it's kind of bad, so it doesn't take itself too seriously. Also, check out "Turbo Kid", a post-apocalyptic adventure film starring Munro Chambers, which is kind of a mix of Mad Max and ET in that it's a very 80s sci-fi look and feel. And as I'm sure you're aware, the hilariously bad "The Roommate" does feature Degrassi alum Nina Dobrev for like 2 minutes lol
Okay but when you said "I don't know who that is" about Freya Tingley my immediate reaction was to go "Freya Tingley?!" like the meme at 4:30 because she was in hemlock grove (a show in which Declan's actor also participated) which is like... really funny to me (she was also wendy in ouat so that's fun too)
i loved when i first started watching degrassi in high school and i recognized all these actors from family channel (basically canadian disney channel) shows like life with derek, wingin it, the latest buzz, overruled, how to be indie, etc. i know you dont want to become a degrassi channel but if you ever wanted to watch some of these shows for a video id be here for it
the most interesting part of film and tv is actors who got enough success from a project to potentially bring in viewers but not enough to be in genuinely good/well funded projects. my guilty pleasure is looking up actors from successful tv shows and seeing who got mainstream success from it and who got screwed over. it’s a depressing habit when you realise how many people are in the “screwed over” jar
yikes, I just realized how much "She's Too Young" "The Truth About Jane" and "Defending Our Kids: The Julie Posey Story" informed a lot of my teenage anxieties. definitely watched "She's Too Young" for Miriam at the time....and "Julie Posey" for Annie Potts....and "Jane" for Stockard Channing. damn you lifetime! although all three of these movies touched on real-life issues i was facing as a teen in the early 2000s.
The movie Charlie Bartlett has a couple degrassi people in it as minor characters, but it’s actually good good. (RIP Anton Yelchin) I know for sure the guy who played Craig and the girl who played Paige are in it. Ugh, She's Too Young was iconic! We watched it in sex-ed. I love how she told her friends she had syphilis and they should get tested, and one of them said "I don't have syphilis! I'm not the kind of girl that gets syphilis!" EDIT: The best part of a lifetime movie is how they end. They have the climax, they kill whoever is doing the "bad thing", and then they move on like nothing ever happened. No trauma, no anxiety, nothing. Just back to normal.
theres also a movie called “dog pound” (2010) which stars shane kippel as a main character and its actually a really high quality film, it follows shane kippel’s character and 2 other incarcerated teens and is a commentary on the violent nature of juvenile detention. fair warning it is extremely graphic and dark, the only way i was able to make it through was with multiple breaks and the knowledge that i’d be able to watch more shane kippel because im a hoe for spinner lmao. if youre interested in seeing shane kippel in a non-comedic role (he was also in life of ralph for a few episodes) i’d recommend but again massive warning it is very very graphic.
Me and a HS/college acquaintance(who I pretty much exclusively communicated with through snapchat) for some reason bonded over “She’s Too Young” and would randomly send each other quotes and clips from it over the years. One time, they just messaged me simply saying “hey I got syphillis lmao” I still wheeze anytime I think about it. (Also they are syphillis free thank u medicine)

My favorite is Emma's two line cameo in Orphan Black. I remember she was in the preview for the episode, and they kinda made it seem like she was gonna be a guest star, but she had an utterly forgettable two line cameo that anyone could have played.

lol I think that actor is Dylan Everett! yeah so many Degrassi actors show up in those movies. I did start Dance Academy once, I'm currently trying to get through a couple different teen shows but maybe I'll return to it!

I remember seeing "She's to young". I had just started watching Degrassi next generation 3 years prior, so I was excited to see these characters in other movies after the fact. Considering that I was a teen at the time, I actually loved the movie. I haven't seen it since that one time on TV in 2004.
I used to LOVE Devil’s Diary!!!! The main character is even played by Alexz Johnson who sang the Degrassi theme song in later seasons.
Also worth noting that Alexz Johnson is actually a super talented singer and led her own show called Instant Star where she played a teen pop-rock star. It had the same showrunners/producers/writers as Degrassi so I definitely recommend checking it out as well LOL.
I find it hilarious how all lifetime movies come up with the names of their titles by just basic plot of the movie in two or three words 💀

Okay, I've never watched Degrassi before, but the last video was so well made, I binged the rest of your videos. And surprisingly much of the media you covered are my random niche interests. I have been unintentionally watching movies starring Degrassi stars. I just put on She's Too Young and let it play. I watched Dog Pound starring Spinner (Shane Kippel), Boot Camp starring Mr. Oleander from Degrassi, and Do Not Reply with Lola. There are so many of them! I hope you can include these in your part 3.
I think other deep dives into young adult media in general, especially ones with more seasons to dig into. Though, I wouldn't be upset about more degrassi content either.
Just a random fact about Kiss and Cry (I know you didn’t focus on it in the video but still interesting) Sarah Fisher was actually best friends with the girl, Carley Allison, she was portraying in the movie.
It would be a different story if it was just a song made up by those filmmakers, but one of your faves? That makes it even worse!
MAY I SUGGEST: "Stage Fright" featuring Ephraim Ellis, although he's only a supporting character. It's a horror movie musical set at a musical theater camp, and Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf are also there. The music is hilarious, and it's one of those movies that knows it's kind of bad, so it doesn't take itself too seriously. Also, check out "Turbo Kid", a post-apocalyptic adventure film starring Munro Chambers, which is kind of a mix of Mad Max and ET in that it's a very 80s sci-fi look and feel.
And as I'm sure you're aware, the hilariously bad "The Roommate" does feature Degrassi alum Nina Dobrev for like 2 minutes lol

i loved when i first started watching degrassi in high school and i recognized all these actors from family channel (basically canadian disney channel) shows like life with derek, wingin it, the latest buzz, overruled, how to be indie, etc. i know you dont want to become a degrassi channel but if you ever wanted to watch some of these shows for a video id be here for it
the most interesting part of film and tv is actors who got enough success from a project to potentially bring in viewers but not enough to be in genuinely good/well funded projects.
my guilty pleasure is looking up actors from successful tv shows and seeing who got mainstream success from it and who got screwed over. it’s a depressing habit when you realise how many people are in the “screwed over” jar
yikes, I just realized how much "She's Too Young" "The Truth About Jane" and "Defending Our Kids: The Julie Posey Story" informed a lot of my teenage anxieties. definitely watched "She's Too Young" for Miriam at the time....and "Julie Posey" for Annie Potts....and "Jane" for Stockard Channing. damn you lifetime! although all three of these movies touched on real-life issues i was facing as a teen in the early 2000s.
“Julie Posey” is so good, though! I watched it a few weeks ago and it did give my the creeps. Scary stuff!

The movie Charlie Bartlett has a couple degrassi people in it as minor characters, but it’s actually good good. (RIP Anton Yelchin) I know for sure the guy who played Craig and the girl who played Paige are in it. Also Grace from Secret Life of the American Teenager who I also saw from a movie in this video haha

Ugh, She's Too Young was iconic! We watched it in sex-ed. I love how she told her friends she had syphilis and they should get tested, and one of them said "I don't have syphilis! I'm not the kind of girl that gets syphilis!"
EDIT: The best part of a lifetime movie is how they end. They have the climax, they kill whoever is doing the "bad thing", and then they move on like nothing ever happened. No trauma, no anxiety, nothing. Just back to normal.

theres also a movie called “dog pound” (2010) which stars shane kippel as a main character and its actually a really high quality film, it follows shane kippel’s character and 2 other incarcerated teens and is a commentary on the violent nature of juvenile detention. fair warning it is extremely graphic and dark, the only way i was able to make it through was with multiple breaks and the knowledge that i’d be able to watch more shane kippel because im a hoe for spinner lmao. if youre interested in seeing shane kippel in a non-comedic role (he was also in life of ralph for a few episodes) i’d recommend but again massive warning it is very very graphic.

One time, they just messaged me simply saying “hey I got syphillis lmao” I still wheeze anytime I think about it. (Also they are syphillis free thank u medicine)

I remember when I was a kid, they played that, and a girl fell and hit her head on the edge of the window sill... she was bleeding... and no one rushed to help her, I was the only one acting like something happened... but she woke up and no brain damage, but yeah I could see how the fall would be the thing that would damage you.
