I did this exact route starting in Armero this past August. From Alto De Sifón we continued down then up again to Letras. 11 hrs 30 minutes. As a 61 yr old, Canadian, the coolness was not a worry hahah. I tip my hat to you David. Excellent video..!
I once climbed up to the ski resort peak above Granada, Spain on a tri bike with a disc wheel and 11-28 gearing. And then ran a mile around the parking area at the top. Totally ridiculous, but also a ton of fun. Did it with a group. Took about 3 hours.
What a great achievement. Kudos from a fellow Colombian who also follows you on youtube. Now how about a video telling us what bicycle you used with all the in-depth details on it? Very curious to see what would you recommend to tackle such climb👍
Yeah sadly on this occasion due to the group size and weather we got shuttled down the other side to our overnight stop. I'd have liked to ride the descent but reason to go back
Well done Dave. Epic ride. Nice pack of riders on pretty basic bikes. Did i see qr wheels with rim brakes? Nice!Guess you entered the scene on the fanciest bike of them all?
soemthign to add to the bucket list.....especially after this years Taiwan KOM challenge (2024) was cancelled after an hour due to weather and landslides.....but maybe the weather in Columbia is equally marginal
is there a calculator somewhere on how long would that take for a 105kg person (+ bike+bottles etc) at around 2W/kg to do it? Adjusted for elevation and stops. Is that still doable in a day with an early start?
I made this climb before it was pavemented, it was magical and hard, but now this pavemented road becomes a ecologic disaster, this ecosystem is extremely fragile
Well done. Epic ride David. You are a beast. Very inspirational.
It's worth mentioning that Scarab Cycles are custom made 🇨🇴 colombian bicycles.
Amazing David! What an achievement
Well done, David. Cheers!

Love the Scarab bikes. Great effort David, odd pleasure seeing someone else suffering on a climb 🙃

It was a pleasure to have you here!! Do you have our hilly sprint video?
Brilliant! That's one to remember. Visit Cartagena while you're there, amazing place!
Awesome video and great motivation.
Please come to Ecuador, southern neighbor to Colombia and try Alto de Alpagua. It’s a bit shorter than the video one, but much more difficult.
Added to the list :)
Well done Dave💪
Beautiful Colombia !
Congrats, well done, quite the achievement David 🫡
Thanks! :)
"Reduced to one pedal stoke at a time" - Imagine that 🤣
Looked epic 👌

What an achievement and experienced. That elevation is staggering and a knee cracking. You are now a true cyclist..😅
Looked a monster! Well done. How did you get back?

soemthign to add to the bucket list.....especially after this years Taiwan KOM challenge (2024) was cancelled after an hour due to weather and landslides.....but maybe the weather in Columbia is equally marginal
what was your gearing?
52/36 and 11-34 - was mostly fine the hardest part of the climb is the middle third were the gradient noticeably ramps up

There is a climb calculator somewhere on the web which is pretty accurate from memory, I'll try and find it in a bit
Great video Dave, back to your roots …. Just ride bikes…..
Hold up, let me get some popcorn 👀
I made this climb before it was pavemented, it was magical and hard, but now this pavemented road becomes a ecologic disaster, this ecosystem is extremely fragile
U lied in the title it’s 115 km
The entire route is 115km from the town of Marquita but the climb itself is 88km
Well done big man!
