Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing was among global luminaries who paid tribute to the late Singaporean independence leader as the city state marked his 100th birth anniversary. In an interview with the newspaper Lianhe Zaobao, Li recalled the close friendship he forged with Lee after they first met in the late 1960s.
