You prolly dont care but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother for the last few weeks xD
I've been researching dual-clutch vs. torque conversion transmissions and apparently dual-clutch systems are having trouble handling increasing amounts of power on higher end vehicles. They are exceptionally responsive, but they are wearing out much faster with high-power vehicles. With torque conversion transmissions becoming more and more responsive without giving up reliability, the trend is moving back to them. For smaller vehicles with less power, like this A3, dual-clutch is still a great option because the power will never overwhelm the dual-clutch.
Not surprised Audi is outselling BMW in Canada considering beemers quality issues. Nice looking car. Can't wait for Genesis to release their SUV's. I still don't understand why they left suv's to last
My wife will be happy where the volume button is -- I have the Q4 - always looked at the Q5 - thought it was too big for my needs -- might look at the new Q3 in late 2019..
A stunning car (c/suv) and an even more stunning Location. Another great video. Thanks. When traveling abroad... Do you fly to these countries/cities with your own drone? If so, I can see that as a bit of a hassle.
Personal taste is a weird thing. I usually generally dislike all Audi’s .. bmw guy through and through. But while everyone in the comments is hating on the q3, I strangely find it really cool looking.
I have a 2020q3 great car not a hint of a problem steering is tops ride is good smooth shifting good gas milage uses 87 octain gas (only use the good stuff no walmart, racetrack etc
Sharing the platform is a good thing as you said. Just like how Lexus shares with Toyota. I rather companies focus on making 1 good platform than 2 mediocre ones.
Interior looks exactly like the Volkswagen Jetta. Good to know, thinking about leasing the six speed r line. Hoping engine start stop will improve fuel economy compare to my current Impreza.
This is VW T-ROC. They were supposed to be here (US) beginning of summer. The Audi is gonna have 2 little doo-dads that my VW won't have. Of course I will keep my 10K for having one ring and not 4.
With tooling costs for a new model easily surpassing $1 billion, automakers have to share platforms in order to keep costs down and, thus, the end price to the consumer.
Thanks Zack. Great review. I like the exterior of the current Q3, but the interior needed updating for sure. So I'm happy to see what they did and did well. For me, a single dude, I think it's the perfect size. Looks like they have now done a great job on it's design and tech. I will visit my local dealership next year when it hits the showrooms. Of course, The Vancouver Auto Show is usually held in March so perhaps I'll see it there first. Again, thanks. Cheers and ....safe driving! ;)
And comfort compared to the competition (XC40, X1, XT4, E-Pace, GLA, etc...) ? Still rocking my '17 Golf R as a city family with 2 young kids. A Q3 would be better for winter Montreal parking on the street (higher than the Golf). I loved my SQ5 but it feeled sometimes big in the city and is expensive as I like my vehicule pretty much loaded. A SQ3 would be the sweet spot for me, good size, good power, quality and tech/luxury.
The wheelarches on Audi SUVs should never be body coloured. Glad to see one with black arches and skirts - makes it look so much better and in proportion
Question, why does Audi share platforms with VW but their prices are comparable to comparable Mercs and Bimmers? They don't share platforms like Audi does. Sharing is for cost-cutting. Shouldn't it be way cheaper than the other two then?
It's not necessary, like a lot of electronic gadgetry they put in cars these days. I Wouldn't want to pay extra for something I don't want. Also, it's a car, just drive it instead of fiddling with electronics. Surely analog gauges would outlast digital cockpits and it will be interesting to see how long they do last and the cost to fix it when it does fail. I have driven cars with digital cockpits and it was neat for all of 5 secs and afterwards I did not care for it.
How often are you going to customize it? When you're driving, what more do you need besides what analog gauges are already showing? By the way, big deal how customizable it is, the novelty will wear off. Have fun forking over money to fix it when it breaks down! Manufacturers will love the cash flow coming their way! Don't forget to keep your eyes on the road and just DRIVE!
Really not of fan of touch screen tech. They constantly have to be updated and they might not longer the supported down the line if you want to keep your car for a long time.
Could you car reviewers please please tell Audi that they forgot to put driver seat memory package? Such a simple thing, but also a thing annoying not to have. Your opinion matters!! I hope mine too 😉
Very cool looking Q3 and huge improvement in the looks dept especially that front grill and interior. Btw you should've been driving on that Stelvio mountain road. : )
I'm glad that Audi hasn't decided to go with the ugly styling that Jeep went with on the Cherokee and Hyundai went with on the Kona. Why anyone would find those vehicles attractive I have no idea.
People who think this is an ugly vehicle should probably just punch themselves in the face repeatedly. Everything about this car looks great. Curious as to the lack of sunroof though - standard or optional?
Their DCT's shifting programming is better, but the principals behind the DCT itself isn't any better than a traditional automatic. A DCT has two clutches that trade-off, making for instant shifts. Well, big deal. A traditional automatic has one clutch for every gear in the transmission. In theory, there is nothing that would make a DCT shift gears any faster than most normal automatics. In fact, there are many automatics that offer shifts that are equally as fast as your typical DCT. This is the main reason why manufacturers never got that excited about them. Only companies like VAG managed to market them effectively to know-nothings.
I don't buy that bs that North America dislikes the DSG and prefers the torque converter. The average buyer will ask for two pedals only and will barely think of what kind of gearbox is mounted. It's a decision by VW to cut on costs since their cars are much cheaper to buy in NA compared to Europe - EUR-USD exchange factored into the equation. They can't be competitive by putting the new 7 Spd DSG in their entire lineup. Even the Arteon is now coming with the 8 Spd torque converter a car which is supposedly selling near 50k USD. My personal opinion is that economics are on their side when it comes to VW brand but for Audi come on, it's a premium brand don't cheapen it!
In that case, VW would pull out the DSG from all the lineup including the GTI, Golf R, AllTrack, GLI, Passat, etc. since Americans despise that transmission. These are the facts now: 1- DSG reliability has improved significantly 2- DSG is more expensive than a torque converter and VW has to be competitive in the NA market. 3- VW is now selling newer cars with a 6y/72k standard warranty including those with the DSG. 4- DSG's scope is limited to performance cars: GTI, GLI, Passat GT, etc. Do you really think it's a matter of consumer's taste?
That interior is straight out the EU VW Touareg... and the VW Jetta.. Too bad.. The VW Group was always good at hiding the fact that most of their cars (VW, Audi, Porsche, etc.) share platforms.
If it's good enough for Porsche or Audi but it's branded as VW and it's affordable I see no problem with that. Do you want them to make their lower end vehicles worse to make the top tier cars stand out more? With the way they are doing things, everyone wins.
Sadly every multi-brand companies generally do this practice of purposefully lowering the quality of their bottom-tier brand (Ie. VW) in order to elevate the prestige/brand value of their Mid-tier (Ie. Audi), and Top-tier brand (Ie. Porsche) - that has something to do with marketing.. Ford, Honda, GM, Toyota are all doing it too.
Former Q3 was an ugly dinner roll. This car is much better and gains much needed interior leg/shoulder room. A6/A8 electronics come over but you get designated knobs for climate control and lose the extraneous second screen. Audi got carried away by changing to all-touch screen tech and eliminating virtually all buttons and knobs. The screens can be bothersome when they don't register your input and you have to press the screen 2-3x for a result. Looks much better than prior Q3.
The old Q3 looked hilariously outdated, even the highest trims had cheap plastic accents on the interior. But this one is a major improvement. It looks like a baby Q8 and just overall much higher quality than the outgoing model. Hopefully it won't be dismissed as a budget/fake Audi, because this one is set to be a good option. This also bodes well for the eventual refresh of the A3, for anyone not buying into the CUV trend.
It looks absolutely gorgeous with that black trim
Audi knocked it out of the park with this design.
I think this new Q3 is my new favorite Audi.

The Q3 or the Corsair for a tall driver who takes long road trips. Which do you like better?

Any news regarding the new A3 sedan?
Q3 went from being the least appealing Audi SUV to the most appealing with this new generation, great job.

Sharing the platform is a good thing as you said. Just like how Lexus shares with Toyota. I rather companies focus on making 1 good platform than 2 mediocre ones.
No, it's only for cost savings, the tooling cost for a platform is huge and it will be shared by much higher cars volume.
Nicest looking compact suv in the market period. I bet you it drives at the top of the pack as well.
Motormouth, any indication this touch screen infotainment system will make it to the Q5?
Eventually, when it gets a facelift.
WOW, my next car.
Serge Vivier mine too
That crease line over the rear wheels reminds me of the Bently Bentayga,I am not complaining though.
There is so much room in the engine bay... so a 5 cylinder can fit :D
This car looks so good!
You said "it is 97mm longer and 18mm wider." Is vs the current Tiguan or the outgoing Q3?

@@GISJIng - then don't watch a video about Audi then. Go buy a 2005 Civic and shut up about what "you don't want" in a car.
I'm voicing my opinion. Manufacturers look for that. I am a consumer. If you don't like it, go read someone else's comment and shut up yourself.
Q3 for city driving, Q5 for long distance, Q7 for family trips. Q8 for basically being the best.

You’re talking about old DSGs. They improved their transmission box and no issue at all with their newer models across all the VW group.
Brian The majority of their transmission in Europe is DSG though. Are Europeans easier on reliability you think?
