    What you carry is interesting, but why you carry it is facinating. Deep dives into your equipment choices, and the story's behind the decisions to carry, or not provide context and insight. Please continue with the campaign bag, and current Sawyer's bag. I may never go to a wildland fire, but knowing what you take, and why may help me be prepared for other emergencys, or at least a better reaction to something.

    Yes I would like to see the new campaign bag to see what you kept or lost. I have built my own bug out bag and fight for home bag so I find this highly useful since you have had to insure durability of gear. PS. 100% agree on the Leatherman Wave. The best tool to have camping, hiking, and deep sea fishing.

  • @cbigg81
    @cbigg81 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The nice thing about the chest rig for the radio is where your anntena ends up. I've noticed our structure guys are using an old style leather shoulder harness that keeps the radio low at the waist, same as on your belt. The problem being shielded radio waves. As long as you remember to turn around when your radio doesn't work you're fine. Lol.
    I used a chest harness in search and resq for many years and it does get in the way sometimes but for me it's worth the life safety aspect of my radio working. That said I have dropped the radio into a side pocket and used a remote antenna on my pack. Not an option if you have to deploy and want your radio under with you, but man does it work.
    Thank you sir, I love all your content. This makes me want to wildland again though.

    I enjoyed the heck out of this dual video as I too was a volunteer firefighter. I did not do wildland per se but did do rural pasture land/farm land type and of course in town structure. I did carry quite a bit of the equipment that you have here. I served 25 years on my small town fire department.

    The jerky is good. But a little tip from former military. Under stress 1 m.r.e. can last a full day. Entree when you can,brown rice later and so forth. Also have a chocolate bar. The m.r.e. will give you the calories all day and the chocolate bar will give you a burst of energy when needed most! Keep the chocolate inside the blanket

    Just a tip not to be a stickler but I’m watch guy and I think you might enjoy this tip. If you wear your watch behind your wrist bone it won’t move around on you, you won’t need it as tight, and it won’t hit the back of your hand. It’s also the proper way to wear a wrist watch.

    Thank you for your updated firefighting bag content video. My nephew is just starting his second season in wildland firefighting. He watches your videos, as do I, so we have another topic of shared interest. I especially enjoy specificity, so please go into detail on each item--not just the what but the why you choose what you choose. I'm sorry to hear that you are shortening the length of your commitment to fires from 14 to 7 days because it's people like you, the seasoned fire fighter, that is so very needed not just for your expertise in many aspects of fire fighting and training and assisting the next generation of fire fighters--perhaps even my nephew. On the other hand, I understand setting boundaries based on your priorities and values in order to balance all your obligations in life.
