Miraculous Ladybug Theory: Mrs. Agreste's Dark Side

- One of the characters we know the least about in Miraculous Ladybug is Adrien's mother, Mrs. Agreste. Aside from her role as Adrien's mother and the wife of Gabriel Agreste, we know next to nothing about her. This brings me to thinking that there is much more to her than her being the perfect being who disappeared before the show began. In fact, what we may discover about her may be much darker than imagined, making us wish she stayed missing. Of course, that is the darkest route the story could take, and there is hope that while she may have had a dark past, there is still a lot of good in her. Watch the theory video to see what I mean!

Given that there is a 99.99% chance that Gabriel and Hawkmoth are the same person meaning he has a miraculous , that we know as fact Adrien has one too and that it is likely Mrs. Agreste has the Peakcock Miraculous, all the Agrestes would have one. OMG!

I have a theory:
Remember in the episode “Felix”? Adrien got his aunt mistaken for his mother. I know they look quite similar, but Adrien still has known her for almost his whole life, I am pretty sure he wouldn’t confuse his own aunt with his mum. Adrien has seen his aunt before so the excuse: “Maybe he didn’t know that he had an aunt”. Also, when Natalie and Gabriel made the first senti-monster, dusuu seemed excited and happy to do more, she seemed she was used to being used for evil, while nooroo was always scared from the very start to do evil, while the peacock kwami seems used to it. Which only means that the past owner did evil quite a lot. But who was the past owner? Emilie Agreste, she was the past owner before Natalie. Now I am starting to wonder, if the person in the coffin is even Emilie Agreste at all? Hear me out, I have a story for you.
Let’s have a little flash back shall we? While Emilie and Gabriel were travelling, they found the peacock and butterfly miraculous 🦚 🦋. The peacock miraculous was slightly damaged, but not too damaged. The symptoms she would have after were just a few pains in her chest (which is where the miraculous is placed). Then she got a “brilliant idea”. Emilie Agreste was a 2 faced girl, she was sweet and innocent on the outside, but the inside was quite different. Lately, Amelie (her sister) has been noticing her other side, so she was just planning to eliminate her own sister. She breaks her miraculous day by day, until she knows what would happen.
A few months later, Mr and Mrs Agreste were having a family gathering. They were all mingling and chatting away, Emilie Agreste has planned this for a long time now. She knows that her husband loves her so dearly, no one knows about her 2 faced personality, though she had snapped in front of Amelie, which was a problem for her because Emelie didn’t want anyone to know about her 2 faced side, so she decided to eliminate her own sister. Psychotic much,? Anyway, moving on. Emelie had the exact same outfit which was not planned, but she ignored her. Emilie asked her dear sister to follow her as she needs to show her a something, she gave Amelie the peacock miraculous and told her it would transform her into a beautiful goddess with powers, all she had to do is put the charm on and chant “ Dusuu, spread my feathers”. Of course it was natural for the kwami to hide when another person came so Amelie didn’t manage to see Dusuu. Amelie was in shock when she didn’t immediately die when she did this but she went into this coma. Emilie checked her heart beat to see if she was dead, unfortunately for her, she just passed out. Emelie knew she wasn’t going to go to sleep for a long time, but she would probably wake up soon. She tried to find somethings around that could be used to kill someone without blood, but she couldn’t find anything. Immediately, she heard noises. She realised her husband was coming down from the elevator, she had to do something fast. Emelie heard his heavy footsteps, she had to think of something to make her seem innocent. As she was panicking she heard his voice, he was terrified, he stuttered, “Amelie, what have you done?”, she had a wicked idea. Emelie sighed “What happened!? My dear sister brought me down to show me about this peacock miraculous, when she put it on, she immediately passed out, I am so terrified!” Which caused Gabriel to cry. “EMILIE, NO NOT EMILIE PLEASE!!!! COME BACK TO ME!”. Gabriel starting sobbing while Emilie walked out of the room. Emilie took off her gloves and left the party with Felix. She knew this wasn’t planned, but she could deal with leaving her husband, although she didn’t know how to get back with him though.
(If you don’t know what is going on, I am trying to say that Emilie replaced Amelie while faking her coma)
Once home, Emelie met her sister’s husband, she acted normal and Amelie’s lover got suspicious. Emelie noticed he was suspicious about how she acted more like pure, sweet but two-faced Emelie, and less like Amelie. Emelie was tired of her sister’s husband anyway, so she killed him. She poisoned his dinner the next night. The police assumed he died in his sleep, and she fake cried at his funeral.
A week later after Felix’s father died, “Amelie” and Felix came down to visit Adrien and Gabriel (this is the episode Felix). Emelie greeted her husband while impersonating Amelie. When Emelie walked in, that’s when Adrien stuttered “M-mother?”. Emelie left Gabriel alone and observed actions while trying to steal the wedding band, so she could have memory of the guy who she supposedly loved. The main reason she planned to visit was so she could give pills to her sister so she goes in coma for longer. As soon as Emelie gave the pills to her sister, she saw how Natalie and Gabriel were so connected, she was furious. She was planning to steal Gabriel’s ring so she could have memory of him, but she didn’t need memory as Emelie thought that Gabriel had already moved on so quickly. So she didn’t take anyone’s ring, but that changed because as soon as Emelie and her nephew leaves, Felix informs her that he stole Gabriel’s ring, so she decided that he could keep it.
That’s all folks. I think this might be true because it fits well in the storyline, also it explains why Felix was so rude to Adrien. Because of Emelie’s subtle teaching, she has been teaching him but without knowing she was his guidance.
But I just realised, if this theory is true then the so called “Amelie” knows who shadow moth is.

I think duusu is used to be used for evil is because Master Fu made a terrible mistake once and used the peacock miraculous for evil
Referring to my other reply , when Master Fu used the miraculous of the peacock it was the 2nd time it was ever used. The first time was a test when the miraculous was discovered.
I think Mrs. Agreste/Style Queen will actually be more dangerous than Hawk Moth. Hear me out on this. Up until this point, it could be argued that while Hawk Moth does create villians, his sole objective has been to get the ladybug and chat noir miraculouses, not to cause damage to the city. He may even view the city damage as collateral for a greater good.
Let's say for a second that Hawk Moth's goal to get the miraculouses, isn't to take over the world or anything, he could probably already do that with his own powers, but instead to get the power to take down Style Queen. He can't trust the miraculous holders will work with him, or they could potentially get hurt, since they are obviously teenagers. So in his mind, the only option left is to steal them using his powers.
Think about it. In season one, Hawk Moth was literally the only threat to Ladybug and Chat Noir. However, the miraculouses have been passed down fighting villains for thousands of years. Hawk Moth is definitely not the only villain out there. So why is he the only one we see? Because he's been protecting Paris on the down low. Then this new villain arrived, he freaked out, heard about the very public appearance of the Ladybug and Chat Noir miraculous holders, and decided to take action.
If Hawk Moth considers a villain more powerful than him, and he doesn't trust the Ladybug and Chat Noir miraculous holders to defeat her, he might decide the best course of action would be to steal the miraculous and face the villain himself. Which would make him the hero...?
In the Origins episodes it's pretty clear that:
1) The Moth Miraculous had been dormant (and thought to be lost). Wayzz sensed Nooroo for the first time in a long time when Hawk Moth was asking Nooroo about the Moth Miraculous powers and then commanding that Nooroo obey twisted intentions for those powers.
2) Master Fu was confident in his ability to take on Hawk Moth alone (and with just the power of the Turtle Miraculous) until he tried and failed to transform. One might assume from this that if Paris had a hero working in secret to drive villains away it was Master Fu as the Great Guardian. And then he was successful enough at it that Hawk Moth is the first disturbance of the peace in a long time.
3) Master Fu ONLY sought out worthy candidates to wield the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous (leading to precisely the situation Hawk Moth had been hoping for (doh!)) because he had to acknowledge that he couldn't do it alone since he couldn't transform.
4) Hawk Moth created his very first villain, and THEN Marinette and Adrien found the Miraculous waiting for them and became Ladybug and Cat Noir for the first time.
Also consider that while the Miraculous have passed through different hands over the generations the Pharaoh episode shows that the most recent public record of a Ladybug superhero before this one is apparently a story from ancient Egyptian history. At least that's the impression I got from that episode.
+MuljoStpho i agree, i think there are other evil beings out there i the lady bug mythology. as the spheres defend the world from great evil not just hawkmoth since he was a hero. we are told there will be a procuring villain who will make hawkmoth look like a baby in comparison. we know there three known villains of importance to apear one is style queen then there is the collector and anansi i think that the collector might be the reocurring villain since he is a collector he might be collecting items of power and might want all of the miraculouses.
Whether you're in the "Gabriel is Hawkmoth" camp or not, one thing is clear. Hawkmoth has a tie to the Agreste family. He has a picture of her in his miraculous. It's most likely he wants the Ladybug and Black Cat miraculouses to find Mrs. Agreste. At the end of origins, he refers to it as his "secret dream."

what I find interesting is that most people assume that Fu made the mistake of giving Hawkmoth his Miraculous. but if you look at the origins episode, Fu says that he thought that said Miraculous was lost forever. This makes me think that Mrs. Agrest was his mistake and Adrian's dad stumbled across his Miraculous and the book when he was looking for his wife. Maybe his whole plan is to try and free his wife from the evil that has gripped her?

a major theory of why she left could be this. the kwami specifically stated none shall know your identity. Mrs agreste may revealed her identity to Gabriel and decided to run off. And left the miraculous charm, that's why they have a picture of her next to miraculous. And next to that is a book about heroes and Gabriel is trying to find out how and when she got it, and read the book and saw the peakock was found (in the map)that's why when Gabriel saw adriens ring he questioned him because it's in the book.

1. In the Bubbler episode, Adrien says that for the past three years HIS FATHER gave him the same pen. Adrien's mom disappeared one year ago.
2. I don't remember anything being said about Mrs. Agreste being temperamental, could that be a difference of translation between languages???
3. Difference between the picture of Adrien with his father compared to Adrien with both of his parents... I think that speaks for itself with how happy Adrien is in one, and sad in the other.

Regarding #2, in the "Simon Says" episode there's a bit where Cat Noir tells Gabriel to stop acting like he's above them all and follow Cat and Ladybug's instructions. Gabriel comments on him having quite a temper and how that reminds him of someone. A moment later he glances at his wife's portrait.

My theory: Mrs. Agreste died while fighting Ladybug and Chat Noir while she was transformed into the peacock miraculous. She was trying to get the miraculous for herself. Adrien's dad knows that she wants them so when she died, Adrien's dad becomes Hawk Moth and his goal is to get both the miraculous of Chat Noir and Ladybug to bring his wife back to life. Since the miraculous of Ladybug provides the power of creation while Chat's miraculous provides the power of destruction, it's possible to bring someone back to life using the ultimate power that both the miraculous gives the holder. Hawk Moth wins for a second then brings Mrs. Agreste back to life. She then becomes the golden villain mentioned in the video, then has the powers of the miraculous for herself. She then betrays Hawk Moth then becomes the most feared villain of Paris. Marinette and Adrien figure out each other's identities then teamed up with Hawk Moth to get their miraculous back. Hawk Moth then akumatizes people for good then they all team up against the golden figure to get the miraculous back.

It's possible that's a past holder though. I think they confirmed that they'd be going into the past of the miraculouses if they were greenlit for all the seasons they had planned. It could also be another false miraculous user like Volpina. Despite all the images we've been given, we still don't know how they fit together.

here's something else to think about, do the kwamies know each other's miraculous? I just find it a bit odd that plagg didn't mention the peacock miraculous to Adrain because then he would've Adrain go to Master Fu and tell him where the peacock miraculous is unless Master Fu already know where it is and decided to leave it there where it is safe.
Tikki would have. Plagg not so much. Tikki is the one that recognized the book; made sure to get it; and then had Marinette bring it to Master Fu. Plagg didn't care about the book or the miraculous; Adrien did. The only thing Plagg seems to care about is cheese.

It is that back when gabriel and his wife were on a trip they found the two lost miraculouses.So he tried the butterfly and it was COOL but when she tried the peacock it was broken (proof:in season 2 episode 25 gabriel told nathele (who used the peacock miraculous (sorry for spoiling if you did not watch it)) that the miraculous was broken and way too dangerous) she used it for too long and she died so gabriel got her dead body and placed her in a secret room and wanted to get her back so when nooroo told him that the ladybug and black cat miraculouses can give ABSOLUTE power so he wanted to bring her back but because he loved her soooooo much he went with the wrong way of getting the miraculouses so from there the war started

I think that Gabe is hawkmoth (but who doesn't think that) and that he accidentally did something to make his wife disappear and he doesn't want Adrien out in the "dangerous world" because he doesn't want to hurt adrien like he did with his wife

I can understand homeschooling your child. And maybe from a certain standpoint a parent wouldn't see Adrian's situation as a bad one. Considering Adrien's feelings of connection with his mother. I think she was the one who made his life situation tolerable. Like she helped Adrian understand his father's actions or that Mr. Agreste wasn't this harsh before. Sure he wasn't the best father but losing his wife caused him to change for the worst. Anyways I don't think she is evil. But I also know she has more to her. Right now I consider her to be like Zuko and Azula's mother from Avatar. Not in the picture because of some unseen circumstances.
She IS the peacock look at a pic of the peacock lady when she is trasnformed it looked just like Adrian's mum and I think she's nice and Adrian's dad didn't really like Adrian because Adrian's mum got pregnant with Adrian when she was 17 or something so Adrian's dad was uncomfortable.
Or the reason Adrian's dad dosent want Adrian to go out into the "dangerous world" is because his mum got killed by someone and so Adrian's dad is scared that Adrian will get killed to

Im not sure if it's revealed or not, I just got into the show but has anyone thought of Adrien's father being hawkmoth? Cause the two have facial similarities. When I first realized that it seemed as obvious as how no one can tell Marianette is Ladybug so i thought everyone had already thought of this but now im not so sure.

The artists and directors are kind of forcing us to think that, but yeah, a lot of people disagree. Check out Melizbeauty's theories about it if you want; she talks about stuff like the location of Hawkmoth's lair and compares Mr. Agreste's and Hawkmoth's height and bone structure and stuff. It's pretty wild. :)

I do believe the error that was made in giving the peacock miraculous, was giving it the Gabriel Agreste, because of it being colourful, just like MALE peacocks, but I do think the rest of the theory sounds quite plausible. I in fact wish I would have realised it sooner.
I think that the peacock miraculous was given to his wife, and she somehow turned into the style queen. If that is not the case, your thinking does make sense, because male peacocks are beautiful and Gabriel is a fashion designer, so if the peacock miraculous's power is fashion, beauty or something else along those lines, you do make total sense

my theory is...
first the characters:
- Gabriel looks like Hawg Moth
that's because if u look at the face shape it looks similar. if u look at Adrien's shoes it has like a black moth logo which is because Hawg Moth's POW has something to of with black moths, and Adrien's father is a fashion designer and he design the logo to be a black moth. also if u focus on some episodes, Hawg Moth said something like "my secret dream" in the first episode, and he wants the 2 miraculous to be a hero. he also gets angry when the villains he creates plan on killing ladybug and chat noir, I think that is because he only wants the power but he does want to destroy or harm anyone or anything, and when he saw Adrien's ring he got surprised and been more careful about ladybug and chat noir. a theory I have about him is that in the episode Simone Says he makes Simone a villain buuut usually he keeps giving the villains plans and all, but in that episode he doesn't at all because Simone controls Gabriel. if that isn't correct I have a theory about it, maybe that Gabriel has a good and bad side so his good side is Gabriel and his bad side is Hawg Moth.
- Adrien's mother isn't dead, so maybe she went to another country, or my theory is that in the first episode the old man says that he already made a bad choice giving a miraculous to someone, we all thought it was Hawg Moth, but it might be the mother, I'm not sure EXACTLY how but as I said about Hawg Moth, he might seem bad but he only wants the miraculous, sooo maybe we might think his mother is nice but she might not be and as the old man said he might've given the miraculous to the mother which was a big mistake. u might not like it but she might be Chloe's mother, seen as Chloe and Adrien lost their mother and they look alike aaand they're both wealthy.
- Chloe is going to be an owner of the bee miraculous, I think it's because she gets fed up of ppl not liking her. it might be Chloe that realises that MOST of the villains were after her then she tries to change ooor last tells her. still I think she will stay in love with fashion and being the number 1 person lol and a name I think would be good for her miraculous power is 'queen bee' lol.

so Chloe gets fed up with everyone not liking her then ladybug mentions that MOST villains were after HER, or Chloe might realise that on her own. so the old man acts that he needs help to see hows nice to help and get the miraculous, like on the first episode with Marinete and Adrien. then she gets to be the bee. but she uses advantage of it to find out about her mother, and it happens that Adrien does too. so when they do Chloe of course doesn't know much but Adrien has the miraculous book, then he asks plagg to see that there is there same peacock thing on his shelf beside his mother's pic, so they would think that his mother was a miraculous holder before, but idk what should happen with Chloe, but she finds something at least. just then a villain appears and ladybug and chat noir and 'queen bee' save the city.

I think this is a fair theory; a lot of the shows' villains are just ordinary people who have either made mistakes or have had something bad done to them. That is the very essence of akumatizing; people's very natural and human fears and sadness being used to make them aggressive and flawed. Even Hawkmoth himself is sympathetic as he is in grief over the loss of his wife and through gaining the Moth Miraculous, his despair has turned him into a supervillain. The show doesn't do villains that are evil just for the sake of being evil; they are complex and they have very human, understandable reasons for their actions that we can all relate to. I believe the same thing has happened to Mrs Agreste. However, I don't think that she was innately strict and demanding. A lot of Hawkmoth's actions are driven by grief, but I think to some degree, there is an element of guilt. I think he was obsessed with The Miraculous long before her disappearance and his obsession drove her away. That's why he feels like making amends to Adrien and to her.

Emilie died by using the Peacock miraculous. Now Natalie is using the miraculous. As you know the miraculous was broken and it also breaks the person who uses it. In the episode feast it shows that Natalie is getting dizzy spells which also Emilie used to get before her death. Emilies death happened when Adrien was young so he won’t remember much. Adrien is only locked up at home because Hawk Moth (Adrien dad) does not want Adrien to get hurt. Hawk Moth only wants the miraculous of Chat Noir and Ladybug to make a wish. The wish will be to make Emilie back alive.

From what I gathered while scouring the web, Season 2's plot is meant to be centered around Mrs. Agreste's dissapearance and the search for her, while in Season 3, Hawkmoth is set to recieve a "partner" in the form of La Paon, weilder of the Peacock Miraculous. As it was last seen next to a picture of Adrien's mom, and given the valid points posited by this theory, its very possible that Adrien will soon be fighting HIS OWN PARENTS in the near future. Here's hoping the poor guy can handle it with his new allies...

In the episode Origins, Hawk Moth says that he will use the miraculous's powers to make his secret wish come true. If he is also Gabriel, that wish would be to bring his wife back. Also, in the Christmas special, the Hawk Moth scene comes onscreen right after Adrien is told that he must wait for his father because he is busy or something. Gabriel also shows interest in his son's ring and Marinette's earrings (their miraculouses) If Gabriel really is Hawk Moth, maybe he is trying to use the Miraculous's powers to either save his wife from being the Style Queen, or maybe his wife is just dead from an illness or car crash, and he is trying to bring her back from the dead. If his wife is the Style Queen, maybe the only reason Gabriel was a good fashion designer is that she gave him inspiration and that is why he wants to defeat her or somehow get his wife's fashion inspiration back. There is also a possibility that she stole his fashion designing ability to make herself powerful and Gabriel just wants it back. Adding onto that, she may have switched miraculouses (which means Gabriel had the peacock and his wife had the moth) with him and it turned her into the Style Queen by mistake. If the previous is true, then the peacock miraculous might be something to do with creativity or fashion, or something along those lines. Sorry if this is long :)

So like I have this big theory on this family. So remember the ring Felix stole from Gabriel that was within emilie’s family treasure? I feel like it’s something so much deeper than what we know and may have something to do with miraculous’s. We know the peacock miraculous was used by emillie before her coma, but we don’t know why she was using it. Was she using it for good or bad? Now, I also believe Gabriel isn’t the REAL VILLIAN. Deep down I have a feeling adrien mother is. Emillie sister is somewhat evil from what we saw and so is Felix. It would be impossible for emillie to somehow just be the only one good. From what we know they could have the same parents unlike (SPOILER) chloe and Zoe, whom father is different which is why Zoe is on the good side . Gabriel has a very good reason to be using the peacock miraculous as well and moth miraculous . To bring back his wife so his child can be happy. We also can sense that natelie and Gabriel may or may not get together from the one episode where Gabriel was gonna give up but told her in the end he couldn’t he missed emilie too much, which led her to agree and walk out placing her back against the door. Usually series placed that in for a reason to let the viewers know that there is possibility of them getting together . My theory is Emillie was using the peacock miraculous for evil and Gabriel had warned her about it being broken. Just like the one episode where they said emillie was stubborn and adrien was just like his mother. Maybe she was too stubborn to stop using the miraculous after Gabriel told her the consequences of using a broken miraculous. After using it she went into a coma and Gabriel found out why she was using the miraculous which was to get the Black cat miraculous and ladybug miraculous for a ultimate wish. So now Gabriel is working to get them so he could wish for Emillie return. 🤔 . It’s just fishy and how her side of the family were evil and somehow she isn’t. Why was the ring so important? And why did her sister want it so badly? Why was she using the peacock miraculous in the first place and how did she find it? My theory is still growing slowly each season . But I’m still holding hunch that Emillie will return but she will back stab Gabriel and it will possibly be the series ending fight .
Theory:
Gabriel Agreste HAD the peacock miraculous since male peacocks are known as colorful and Mrs. Agreste had the Butterfly miraculous because female peacocks are known to be brown or grey. Not only is this about peacocks, in the Simon Says episode, Chat Noir told Mr. Agreste to stop being condescending and listen to him, Mr. Agreste then said that Chat Noir reminded him of someone, he then looked at the picture of Mrs. Agreste.
However, this could be false, there is a possibility that Adrien's Mom had the butterfly miraculous and was, i guess you can say, evil? Maybe she was the villain and was somehow manipulative. If she acted that way to the Mr. Agreste, she could be a villain before she died.
As you can see at 2:45 there is a family picture of the agrestes and while his father and mother’s hands are on both of his shoulder he is only holding his mothers hand which could mean he was always closer to his mother or maybe it’s just what the photographer wanted but it wouldn’t make sense for him to not hold his fathers hand and take notice of how emilie agreste and adrien are smiling while his father still has his straight emotionless face so that could mean that he never was really that close with his father and as in her video she said emilie mightn’t have had any power over what her sons choices were it was always the father that made these choices plus since hawk moth needs someone to feel sad or angry to akumatise them (idk if I spelled it right) then if he used his powers for good and not evil would he have to have someone feel good to get the butterfly in them to help them win fights if he did use his powers in a good way just saying

I think that adrien's mom has the peacock miraculous. And that while she was away she was captured by a villain that wanted her miraculous. Adrien's dad wants ladybug and chat noir's miraculous is because as nuru described in the origins, "if you have the miraculous of the lady bug and of the black cat then you will have external power." I think that he doesn't know that his wife was captured and just thinks that she left him. Being desperate he became evil and is trying to get both of the Miraculous to gain the external power and get his wife back. But as master fu said if he makes a wish to bring back something a sacrifice would have to be made. So I think if he dose get both of the miraculous and tries to bring his wife back he will realize that a sacrifice would have to be made which means that someone would die and I think that it would be Adrien's life at risk. So he would have to choose between his son or his wife.

I think Mrs.Agreste is well WAS peckoke (I do not know who to spell it) and once she tried to protect Adrein from HawkMoth and sadly died in the process so her miraculous could not find a similar host yet or a decadent (Female so NOT Adrein) but do u have to be a decadent of a miraculous to hold it maybe just MAYBE Adrein's father was the previous Cat Noir? We don’t know what happened to mrs agrest, but it is never said or even implied that Adrien doesn’t. It’s possible that she died and they just say “disappeared” because it makes it easier to bear or they don’t like to talk about it. Also, it’s possible that Adrien had a very different life before his mom “disappeared”, but when his father changed, so did he. And it is not unusual for rich parents to set there kids up with other rich kids. And we don’t know that he didn’t have other friends like Chloe that he lost touch with after his mom died, and the only reason he is still friends with Chloe is because she needed him so much.
I like the hidden imagery in the painting of her, further suggesting she has ties with the peacock miraculous; the eyes making up her dress, just like the 'eyes' found on peacocks feathers. Beautifully subtle

3 years later and we still know nothing.
I believe she was the peacock holder (in the cabinet there was the broach, Gabriel said she was an emotional person and it was revealed that the peacock kwami was also revealed with extreme emotions) and, like ladybug and chat noir, met hawkmoth (who might have gone by a different name at the time) in their superhero forms. At the time, hawkmoth was good, and they fell in love. They eventually revealed their identities and married and had Adrien. While Adrien was growing up, I feel she insisted on keeping him homeschooled due to her wanting to protect him from the greater evil (that was also revealed in the 2016 nycc panel). The reason why they aren't home as much, is for one, Gabriel works as a fashion designer, so he's at work and I feel that he left Mrs. Agreste to take care of both Adrien and to stay on patrol (leaving her as the "ladybug" in the relationship). I feel what had happened to her was that she was out on patrol (with or without hawkmoth) and was caught in an intense battle, ultimately costing her her life. Because of this, this is why he has the broach next to her picture, he kept it because he didn't want there to be another peacock holder. This is the reason hawkmoth turned evil, he lost the light in his life; he now only has Adrien who he already feels a distance towards because he was never home. Gabriel is now hawkmoth and is trying to take the miraculous because he is afraid of letting go of his past as a hero and passing that title to someone else; he afraid of letting go of that joy he once had with his wife, thus clouding his previous good nature with evil. Plus, I feel he now knows who ladybug and chat noir really are, being Marinette and Adrien, he has an even stronger desire for the miraculous, but for the reason of now wanting to protect his son and Marinette to prevent them from losing their lives like how peacock lost hers. I guess what I'm trying to say is that he's misunderstood, almost (which is an annoying tope/cliche, but whatever). He's just a man in mourning who has lost his judgment.

This was very well-thought-out. I thought Mrs. Agreste was just deceased (not that that's any lighter of a grim situation). Personally, I feel Adrien is a far more interesting character than Marinette. I love superheroes who have dark backstories such as Batman, Spider-Man, and even the Ghost Rider. Marinette portrays Ladybug as strong and determined whereas she's a clumsy goofball. Adrien portrays Chat Noir as a goofball, but I like to think of him as emotionally unstable and hiding his internal scars. As young as he is, that could make him have a grim outlook on life as he gets older and could make him an anti-hero. I love the idea of Chat Noir as someone who borders between right and wrong. But we have seen that Adrien is generally a kindhearted young man. The Christmas Special gives us a glimpse of the emotionally unstable Chat Noir I prefer. Honestly, it makes his character more relatable to teens and young adults, many of whom struggle with such issues. And all of this connects to the Agreste family because as you wonderfully explained in this video, there is so much we still don't know about the Agreste family. If you watched Miraculous on Netflix, it wasn't until Episode 7 we finally see some character development for Adrien. I look forward to what we learn about the Agreste family in Season 2, as long as the writers do a good job of developing the story. I feel like Season 1 was poorly written.

when she went away he wanted to keep Adrian inside because that’s all he got. I think there was a hawk moth before Gabriel was because in the picture on the phone she had something on her dress and it looks like the thing hawk moth uses to power his kwami. But ,maybe she was the old guardian of the miraculous because in the episode the sand boy there were ghost of the miraculous she could have made a mistake and got vanished by the ghost and that’s how she could have disappeared. But like you said she could have the peacock miraculous
I don't know if anyone has said this but in the painting of mrs.agrest that is constantly shown throughout this video depicts her like she is disappearing and the villain that cartoon universe is referring to as could be mrs.agrest, on the last picture of the villain depicts that the villain could disappear
This show seemed so light-hearted and fun until I watched all these theories. It seems so twisted because as a story writer, there's a million paths this show can take. I'm sooo excited though I don't know if I can wait 🙈
