We did indeed have a mutated plant in our party. Their name was Blinky, and they were a cactus covered in eyes. The eyes shot mind-destroying lasers and had the best perception. But they couldn't talk or move.
@@monhunterz5430 Yep! When there were enemies about, they would wiggle. The telepath could hear muffled screams. We eventually worked out a system of blinks to somewhat communicate. They also did the most damage in the party, and I was a cheetah on a motorcycle with a lance.
Personally one of the things I like about games like Gamma World and certain superhero games is the challenge of letting a player go with a pretty off-the-wall concept. So long as the character has enough of a mind to make meaningful decisions, can communicate somehow, has some way of interacting with its environment, and isn't permanently stuck in one place, you can try to roll with it.

The reward for identifying a laser pistol is that you got a laser pistol. Is it possible to do the equivalent of hiring a sage? Mutant Y0 added a mechanic for turning in tech. Instead of improving status it increased the stats of your village.
Wow, the body weights based on Physical Strength are crazy. She should be 105 kg (231 pounds) by this logic. And still, she can only carry 15 kg (33 pounds) unburdened. Those mechanics were not created with consistency in mind.
I'm amazed nobody else commented on the character with water-soluble skin being named "Mehl-ti" ("Melty"). I had to pause the video when that name got added, I was laughing too hard to follow along.
I dont know which edition but I remember having a mutant fungus that grew berries that caused mutations.... so I would eat some whenever I got bored. I remember gaining a dual brain so I could concentrate on 2 things at once. great! so I was driving somewhere, I think we were in combat. with my other brain I decided to eat some berries..... which caused me to lose mutations... lost the dual brain..... lost the brain that happened to be driving. lol. EDIT: also I loved Gammarauders, which is a board game based in this universe. the history as written was hilarious. especially the cryptic alliances. "the men in black disguise their vehicles to look like those of other cryptic alliances, but they paint them black so it doesnt fool anyone" or "the FOWLOTE's (Friends of whats left of the earth) believe in peace and harmony. and they are willing to beat the tar out of anyone that doesnt believe in peace, love and tie dye vehicles with fins"
Hey, any shot you could take a look at the old Votoms ttrpg that R. Tolsarian made with absolutely 0 behind the scenes info, like, they say a handful of times stuff like “we’re making the assumption based on some stuff that X,” like “there’s only three world in the original show but we can assume at least 200 are part of society.” It also has crap tons of rules on custom making an Armored Trooper which come before any of the character stuff itself in the book for some reason. Also a *lot* of spoilers for the original series. I caution you against them, it’s a neat series, good action, fun intrigue, very 80s space-age grunge. Got about halfway through reading the PDF before it stopped working so I don’t really know how it does or doesn’t come together and play in the end as a TTRPG but I thought that Woodo city, the first setting in the show, would make for a fantastic ttrpg setting

PCs who can keep rolling tours would just become stronger and stronger. There are two rolls per tour, do you die and do they let you enlist. Characters will start to age and eventually die through periodic medical aging crisis.
New viewer, and I'm loving the content (especially this series). I just figured I'd throw out a few systems that would be fun to see you go through character creation in! If you don't mind "fan" systems, I would love to see an episode on Pokemon Tabletop United, as it's super popular and would only require a passing familiarity with the source material. Also, my pet system, which is Frankto's Naruto D20 as I'm just a huge fan of it personally. If you would prefer to stick to official, published systems then I would love an episode on FATE Core! I'm only suggesting these because you've mentioned you take comment suggestions, haha!
After all this Gamma World stuff, perhaps you should take a look at Traveller! An RPG (in)famous for the ability of your character to die during creation!

This could be wrong but in one of the additions of the game I think there is a reputation system based on turning in technology to your faction

Gamma World 2nd Edition was so great and fun! It is my 2nd favorite Gamma World edition, behind Fourth edition!

Gamma world reminds me less of fallout, and more of Caves of Qud, especially with the mutant/pure human dichotomy and the talking plants.
I like the status rules. Gamma World was always about the weird factions running about.
I could do without the "pure humans are superior" aspect, but other than that it looks like a lot of fun!

You start taking damage when immersed. But I guess you could have any sort of merely annoying skin conditions.
