      Exactly. I got the impression that Lyle the oldest was sociopathic.
      18 and 21 years are huge developmental life transitions. K and Jose wouldn't let them make life choices, didn't encourage their career interests, didn't validate their feelings.
      Jose was in boarding school. He was totally supported by his father also driven by his father, possibly abused. Jose might have been a sociopath himself. Many people expelled from Cuba were mob associated. Organized crime owned Cuba before the revolution. It's very possible that Jose was also corrupted along the way or forced to associated with them.
      Leave it to Jose and Kitty to find a corrupt therapist for the boys. Confidentiality has professional ethical limitations. You can't fail to report a crime. In fact, the boys could likely have been diagnosed as oppositional defiant and conduct disordered youth. Eric could have been considered sociopathic. But on top of that they suffered from traumatic abuse. That should have been a sentencing mitigation factor if not reducing the conviction to manslaughter.

    There are people who believe they were grown adults, they had alternatives to murder. Those people don’t understand abuse. When the 13 Turpin kids were rescued from their house of horrors, the oldest one was 29.

    • @_.tay757._
      @_.tay757._ หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      This. They also don’t understand why abused people don’t tell others about the abuse. The main reason they lost the case is because people then weren’t as well informed about abuse victims’ tendencies to conceal abuse, especially sexual abuse, because of the fear and shame they have been conditioned to feel.

      Who did the Turpin kids murder? I've had 6 decades on this planet. I've met plenty of people who were abused horribly.. not one of them commit murder. One was raped nearly every night by a step parent. She moved on as an adult and never killed either her mom or stepfather. Amazing... but not choosing murder is an option.

    I was abused as a child and I did not leave even after becoming an adult. People who have never been abused find that difficult to understand, but when you have been abused for most of your life and made to be dependent on your abusers and fearful and emotionally stunted, it's extremely difficult to leave, it felt impossible for me. I did not know how to do anything on my own. I barely had friends, was very bad at socializing because my abuser kept me from learning to do things on my own or socializing with people. The Menendez brothers should be freed. They have served over 30 years in prison after being abused since birth. They have never been free in their lives.

      Isn't their mom part of the abuse? Ad woman, please be in her shoes before jump in to judgment. May be she feared him. Imagine your husband cheating with multiple women including buying them home, sexual abuse your childre. It is easy to judge than understand. Truly sad she was the one got more shots than her husband. 10 shots? For what??? As boys they also should protect her from there abusive father.

    • @brookecobb63
      @brookecobb63 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      If the stories of the family members are true, the mother knew what her husband was doing to her sons behind closed doors and made sure no one in the family went down that hallway to hear what her sons were enduring. If that were my boys, they wouldn't have had to kill their dad themselves, cause momma would have handled it as soon as that man layed his head down to sleep at night. It took less shots to kill their dad, because he was the one they needed to kill to be safe. It was subconsciously harder to kill their mother and their shots weren't as directed to kill. The initial shots didn't kill her. They had to reload and finish what they had started and end their mothers suffering.

And now as I watch the case revived in the media, and all the Shorts and TH-cam reels, I relive my youth, as I watch how they lost theirs to the rigged justice system of the time. This is really uncomfortable viewing. I don't condone murder per se but the sexual and psychological abuse of Lyle and Erik is shocking. Society in the 80s didn't really understand. I'm not convinced that incarceration was the right decision. Erik and Lyle (and their mother) were victims regardless of the fact that they murdered their parents.

    The fact that the judge and prossecution took the steps to block the most important testimony that repeesented the motive as to why this happened,just screams injustice to anyone who isn't biased and is looking at it as 2 rich boys wanting to get away with it. Many have said the same and it is true,if this was the case of the 2 Menendez sisters instead of the 2 Menendez brothers,they would have not been convicted as they were nor would the most crucial evidence and testimony have been blocked from being exposed in court. Because this case involves 2 boys,as it so many times happens even today,the significance and credibility of abuse being involved is tremendously downplayed. We see it all the time,boys who are abused by people who should be protecting them and taking care of them,and majority of the times the penalties are extremely soft against those people. How many cases have we seen of male students being abused by female teachers and the result is 2 years probation? How many times have we seen cases that if the roles were reversed and it involved males acting against females the penalties would be high,but since they are not what ends up happening is that things are downplayed and jokes are made at the expense of a child losing their Innocence far too soon and to the wrong people?
    This is a real problem in our society,when it comes to abuse against male victims things are downplayed,credibility is low and sometimes non existent and penalties are too soft against those who commit it.

      girl stfu! they brutally murdered their parents, blowing their faces off, then lied about it, than spent their money like a bunch of spoiled rich kids. Then they laughed about it in court and when they realized that they might be in prison for the rest of their lives they made up a story about SA

    They killed their parents in cold blood, so there’s no way they can defend themselves. These two brothers were adults when they murdered their parents. They were free to leave home and could have pressed charges against their parents instead.

      @littlefruitster2667 of course no one deserves to die. But if you abuse a child sexually that will eventually come back and bite ya in the ass. If the parents could have kept their sexual fantasies away from the children maybe the parents would still be alive. And if the pics that were found were found today the brothers would have gotten manslaughter just from the pictures they found of them as children. But the prosecution said "men can't be ra*e cuz they lack the necessary equipment" so that must be true right? So if you belive the prosecution I hope you belive in everything the prosecution says. Which means you don't belive men can be sexually assaulted. Hope you have a fine day with that.

    They concocted the sexual abuse as a means for killing their parents. They only told Dr. Oziel about how demanding and physical he was with them. I remember how the bailiff would talk about how the brothers would high-five each other after their testimonies, laughing about how they really fooled them. Sic brothers.
