Я так понял это какой-то привод для четырёхрядной цепочки. Про биение и штангель - хрен с ним - цепь, особенно на малых скоростях, многое простит.(вспомните комбайны "нива" или "колос") Но "сырой" зуб?! Плюс чуть ли не прихватки ремонтного кольца? Как долго такая "сварка" проходит? Не, видео залипательное, но бредовое.... Если только не для обработки пенопласта такое "изделие"
Обожаю эти видосы. Глядя на них, чувствую себя богом металлообрабтки и машиностроения.

Мне одному показалась супер точная Проволочная технология и биение на 14:39 фрезерного станка
Суть там в том, чтобы более-менее точнее выставить заготовку. Видать у них в оборудовании погрешность +/-1мм это в норме)

Погоди еще месяцок, думаю , что и сам скоро будешь в рашке на таком станке работать с проволочкой ...

Вот так у гуманитариев и складывается представление о производстве. Ошибочное представление :( Расчеты на прочность? Микрометры? Центрирование? Ловля соток? Пфффф. От деда же кронциркуль остался - он им колеса для телеги делал.
Это не производство, это ремонтная мастерская с демпинговыми ценами. Как выжить в таких условиях? Правильно, чем дешевле и старее оборудование без покупки нового - тем больше ему останется денег для семьи. И конкуренция, видимо, не особо сильная. Потому что то, что они сделали - вообще сырая хрень с непредсказуемым, но ожидаемо низким ресурсом.

Didn't bother that welding will anneal the metal, didn't bother to take care of the runout, didn't bother to take care of chattering in the work, and off course we have a lathe, but we don't bother to debur and chamfer the edges on it. We do it with a chisel that's actually a scrap piece from yesterday's job. And oh no!!! Don't ask us to tidy up our machine shop! We are masochists!!! Cleanliness is for the sissy educated young engineers.

all these comments that find the excuses of living in poverty as excuses for bad workmanship and unsafe practices are silly. Poverty or not, you don't have to work in rubbish and junk piled around the workshop, that's basic tidiness attitude. The machinist has a smart haircut, why not extend his pride in appearance to a pride in his work and workshop, and for the price of a haircut he could buy a couple of pairs of safety glasses to protect his eyes and forego his haircut one time. But perhaps that is an attitude problem - never spend any money on anything at all if you can get away with it. Never waste time clearing up or looking after your assets. Don't waste time making a table when you can work off the floor all the time.

Unfortunately most people commenting have no idea what goes on in a workshop. They just see poor people and instantly applaud them for being able to work. But under unnecessarily bad conditions.
Can't afford to clean up, can't afford to wear PPE, but quite willing to ruin the very lathe he depends upon for his income by welding on the work piece. Even in western countries we can't afford to do that. And the click baity descriptions of these videos are laughable. I think most people have forgotten what actual work looks like. Too many westerners seem to believe that we can sustain ourselves by sitting on our asses on office chairs. While the rest of the world does all the work. They're about to learn differently.

That haircut y’all are talking about could be from is family member or on the streets where it would cost roughly .50¢usd for them. India is an extremely poor country where people have to fight for scraps to survive if they cannot find a decent job

Or the absolutely unacceptable quality of this repair for that matter. The disregard for those two crucial things might be the very reason he would be poor in the first place.

I love how they clamp the ground on the far end of the lathe and welding current runs through headstock bearings or whatever else is a good ground. I saw a guy once weld a rollcage in a stock car using the end of the crankshaft as a ground. Didn't turn out well about 10 minutes after he hit the track.
Litterally everything in this video is a stackable offence in any normal society.

That ring must be pretty thin after all that cutting. Also, no heat treatment for the teeth means it's not going to last very long.
It hasn't been fitted to the machine yet. So no guarantee that it will be fitted non heat treated.
Just from the looks of it, that's a pretty low-carbon steel. Plus all the weld on it? I don't think that heat-treat is going to work really well. Still, I give them points for the 'Git-er-done' work ethic!

@@jstephenallington8431 I’m no metallurgist, but i am a maintenance engineer and ive never met anyone who can tell the carbon content of steel just by looking at it! I reckon if it’s heat treated properly it’ll last long enough for it to have been worth the effort.

А мне кажется или это колесо под четырехрядную цепь? и получается что верхняя обойма приварена по краям, и дополнительно прослаблена в местах проточки канавок? я бы не хотел чтобы это колесо крутилось у меня рядом с домом.

Love that they ended the video right at the spot where they did a shit job welding those plates in on the ring. All he had to do was back gouge the outside seem and it would have been a decent repair. But to leave it like they did and just weld over the top of a tight seem was just plain lazy and you can see the result. Be lucky if it doesn’t peal off that inner wheel like a tuna can lid. 🤦♂️

Welding steel to cast iron is a very tricky task.
This is going on a crane??!! Most crane or heavy equipment accidents happen out east!!
I think it is cast steel, and that is weldable without problems
This is going to kill someone. The radial grooves show yellow through them meaning he cut through the outer ring all the way to the center hub. That arbor is wobbling like crazy as the "gear" is bouncing up and down. When there is any kind of weight put on this the "welds" on that ring are going to break and rip those teeth out. Because he cut too deep AND only welded the edges, the teeth of this gear are only held together by a very thin layer of metal.
It will take a 4 row chain that wraps around a good part of circumferences so it will suffice.
It's india, if it collapses and kills a hundred people, it will only cost the insurance a few thousand rupees, so no biggee.

They doesn't operate the lathe, they're fighting with it!! I see excessive force everywhere they tight something. On the other hand, runout is measured in centimetres here.

Not a factory but some small machine shop repairing a gear, I am sure they skipped the part where they machined off the destroyed teeth. And I bet its not even a gear its a sprocket to run chain. Respect for getting that thing done with the tools they had. And with the age of that original hub I am sure the back yard weld job will hold up just fine.

What the heck did they weld that small tool post on the side of the main tool post for? It achieves nothing that some spacers would do, and adds extra probability of chattering, which is what is happening.
At 9:06, Allen key left in tool mount screw while running - dangerous.

@@alitn588 Extra tool pot welded on at 1:03. Allen key left in place rattling around at 9:05. If it jumps out and gets in the work the work may be ruined. If you click on times shown in blue, TH-cam will jump to those points in the video. In most of it you can hear the chattering (it's the singing noise caused by springyness in the tooling, and you can see the resulting roughness in the turned surface of the workpiece. In this application is doesn't matter much as the hobbing removes the chattered surface, but a competent macninist will not have chattering, by improving rigidity and/or changing rotation speed and/or resharpening the cutting tool.)

And other reason , maybe before they wanted they cut in a small work , they couldn't use the main one or main one was to short to get the end of the work !
I remember when I worked in a site (30 years ago)we didn't do things most of the industrial people do ! We just did whatever we can to do that job and most of the times wasn't safe or normal !
But this guys are in another level ,they really don't care about their health and safety !

A lathe manufacturer would not make a lathe where the carriage traverse will not cover the full turning diameter - it would be like making a small lathe for the cost of a large one. In any case, at 8:12 the video shows them using a different tool post that certainly does reach outside the full work piece diameter.
The only reason why anyone would weld a small toolpost on like that would be to use smaller tool sizes they have on hand without using spacers.
Its amazing what these guys do. The only real issue i see here is that they are welding through the frame of the lathe, which damages the bearings pretty badly. but.. i guess they would just fix them as well haha
TH-cam channel Cutting Edge Engineering Australia also does this and explained in a video how he was able to do it without damaging the lathe.

The basic lathes they use have a cone pulley driving into a cone pulley in headstock. Gets job done.
