I just came across ChatGPT earlier today, then realised you've already made a video on it. So far I've had the most exciting, hilarious, amazing and even scary experience with it. I got it to write a year 8 assignment task sheet for me, then write A, B and C student response examples, all in the space of about 3 minutes. This is crazy and exciting!
I love the idea that this will open up more space for much more interesting projects and learning. Game changer.

as a student it's great to see the point of view of our teachers. I live in France and one of my English literature teachers just told us the stupidest thing in my opinion
''dont do it because it doesn't do it well, it's doesn't give a human like response''. And okay this is true to an extent but to say it doesn't work well is just dumb. Teachers are telling us not to use because it is making their way of teaching irrelevant, most teachers only know one way of teaching and won't adapt to today's standards and they just power through.
A student that doesn't care about let's say literature and just wants a good grade will use ChatGPT for example to just get a good grade and still won't be interested in the subject. They just want a grade. And morally speaking they donc care, I've used it in Spanish class and got a 19/20 pretty much a perfect grade out of this

Teachers can always counter this by having test done in class and submitted at the end without a Chance fornone to use the AI.
The problem will be for any take home work.

Thanks for the upload A.J. North American teachers have to just get back to the basics. The 3 R's. More than ever, ChatGPT shows the power of writing coherent and grammatically correct sentences. Now, with native speaker English and grade 8 math concepts and a very basic understanding of any computer language, a pre-university level student can start to code very useful Javascript snippets. That said, every kid from 7 to 12 should be using a pencil, paper notebooks and graph paper! You can teach them "coding" by learning propper English grammar distinctions, imperative etc...then get them to write out an ordered recipe for their favourite dish. Get the students to exchange recipes and then get them to add "if/then" clauses to their friends' recipes. Then show them the power of data analysis by analyzing the costs for each recipe, the average amount of carbs/protein the class consumed, the amount of time/energy for each dish etc. Now, if they are 15 or older, teach them how to research older magazines at the library... and only THEN do you teach them the power of online search engines and the upcoming AI models.

I think you have a very good point and this is coming from someone who both loves & is addicted to technology since the days of the humble NES, Game Boy, & Walkman. Schools really need to teach people how to reason and think for themselves. One class that can help with this and is already in some school curricula called Discrete Mathematics. The course is supposed to teach basic logic and how to prove things in the maths world. The only prerequisite is algebra. A properly designed Discrete class at this level would not require a calculator (nor would one even help).

As a teacher I must say: what an inspiring, thoughtfull take on ChatGPT and it's implications on our education system. Thank you!

Although the education system has had many improvements in the past years, it still needs to be updated and falls short compared to modern-day technology and knowledge. For example, most curricula need to be updated and include recent advancements in various fields that would be relevant for students to learn. In addition, the traditional school environment fails to engage students, as static lectures cannot keep up with the ever-changing 21st century. Furthermore, the current educational model does not allow for meaningful collaboration or creative problem-solving amongst its pupils; instead, it prioritises memorising facts over exploration or critical thinking. Thus, while some of the core principles that have guided education models since antiquity remain intact, they need to be revised to prepare students for a world filled with complexity and change.

As a student in 11th grade who had struggled a-lot in school this tool helped me a-lot. Some of the questions would take forever for me to answer and this AI gives a clear and most of the time correct answer! Its a real game changer.

How? Does chatgpt help teach you, so you can learn? Does ChatGpt show you and explain things more clearly than your teachers? How does ChatGPT explain and show you how to do your school, classromm and homework, so you can learn well and potentially replace the need for a teacher? Any resource to help you learn and earn is an added benefit. Any tool intended to be a resource, used in unethical means. Does not teach you, it helps you cheat.
What I'm asking is "Does ChatGPT give you the answers in a couple different variations, so you can copy and paste, without doing the work or LEARNING AND EARNING?"

I have used a ChatGPT to write the entire script for my email marketing course. And this is why I'm going to start selling that course as a textbook. And I'm quitting my job as an email marketing teacher because even though they pay me $80 an hour, I'd like to make $800 an hour. And I believe I can do so with ChatGPT

Already online available books, or text, or should I say version of those, differ from original, let's say historical sources, AI will continue to push predetermined "facts", and right now when you listen to digitally educated experts opposed to traditionally, you see a gap in vastness and profound understanding with digitally educated ones.... not to mention it will eliminate many steps in learning that actually benefit critical thinking, it's not by chance that there was a study that showed that children, for the first time in history, are actually dumber than the previous generation, so basically humanity will split into two groups, first that will blindly follow this shortcut to life AI approach, and those that might not be AI illiterate, but use it very cautiously, but still including and basing them selves more on a human centered approach... it's obvious to which group I belong
