Honestly, I just opened the video to see what they were playing, and wasn't gonna stick around, but knowing they bring this bit back in will get me to watch.
Dan saying he wanted to write to the game devs saying they were right reminded me of when my dad got a big puzzle/crossword book for christmas years ago: he got to the last puzzle, figured out it was incorrect because the answers didn't work, wrote the publisher and they sent him a FREE NEW BOOK and a letter that they updated and reprinted the books with the corrected final cross word.
When I was little I wrote in to the publisher of Where's Waldo? saying I found a mistake in one of their puzzles and they sent me a book signed by Martin Handford and a bunch of "Waldo Watcher" swag. Kid me was over the damn moon.
I have never seen their OCD and ADHD clash/work together as much as I have in this episode. Ex. Dan explaining to Arin to put the dot on the bottom corner of the calendar square while Arin sings a random tune lol
Yeah I... Couldn't with the books. I had to skip ahead. I have pretty bad OCD and while I've spent a lifetime developing coping mechanisms Arin repeatedly making the books worse instead of fixing the pattern had me.... In pain, and feeling violent.

As is "I mean we all do, just different ones" The reason mental illnesses have a scale of effect is they can all be broken down into two categories. Your brain is doing a normal thing, but way to much. Your brain is failing to do a normal thing, or at least not doing it enough. Whats "normal" is just the average amount of x thing the brain should do. So basically everyone has at least something where they're outside the average.
Lol I'm literally at that part once I read this. It makes sense tho. The Barcode stickers alone are too cluddered with information to be grouped and look aesthetically pleasing.
This game is genius in its marketing. Everyone sorts and organizes differently, so anyone watching a Let's Play says, "No, they're not doing it right! UGH, now I have to buy the game so I can do it RIGHT." Because it's me. I'm saying that.
This game is like supposed to be an OCD satisfying experience. Watching Arin completely miss the book pattern one has the exact opposite effect on me as a viewer.

this game actually really feels accurate to OCD because when you're doing a compulsion, at some point you're like "ok, I got it 'right' now! the compulsion action is done, right?" and then your brain is like "well sorta, but re-do the entire ritual again because you did it wrong." Just when you think you've solved the 'puzzle' of the compulsion, it turns out that you're 'wrong'. This game is a literal representation of that feeling. Sorta puts you on edge when you can't get it 'right'.

If I hear one more person say "I'm OCD/so OCD" or "lol I'm so random and ADD/ADHD can you tell haha" I swear I will turn full blown homicidal. 1) No. You are not "obsessive compulsive disorder" about how you put your dishes away. No, you're not "attention deficit disorder about school". Even if you HAVE or suffer from ADD/ADHD/OCD, that would still be a grammatical travesty. 2) STOP using a crippling neurodivergency you know NOTHING about to describe being anal retentive, or *bored*. Everyone has quirks and ticks and things that satisfy their brain. NOT everyone has compulsions and intrusive thoughts that can range anywhere from minor organizational preferences that *most* be adhered to lest they have a breakdown to hospitalization because even if they are afraid of death they can't stop the intrusive thoughts of unaliving themselves and the actions brought on by those intrusive thoughts. NOT everyone basically has two fucking brains going at any given time and struggle to focus because their very EXISTENCE feels like contracts itself. ....I could go on but suffice to say listening to adults talk about real problems like OCD and ADHD with intelligence - referencing their medications, therapy, etc, and acknowledging them as disorders, not fucking adjectives shouldn't be more satisfying than the visuals of a puzzle game built around organizing things in a visually satisfying manner, but it is. 10/10 Thank you Grumps.

It's honestly funny having that very soothing flute play in my ear, but can you just imagine sitting here for hours and hours having that flute never shut the fuck up when you're trying to solve this puzzle? Even the best of things will be maddening at a long enough level.
Having loved this game and 100%ed it, I was so excited to watch this. I don't think I've ever wanted to yell at the screen more than this episode though 🤣 Of course I understand and feel their pain though.
Hey Dan, I've had OCD my whole life too (my mother used to call me her "little Monk" from the tv show Monk) when I was a teenager I had this ocd where I had to name every color I saw and it got so bad I didn't want to open my eyes because it was so stressful and made me cry. I'm on medication for ocd now and it is way better, still have ocd but mostly just minor things now.
I think it would've saved them a lot of frustration if someone had told them about the "let it be" button. Basically, even if your solution isn't the "correct" one or is one the game didn't think of, you can just click "let it be" and it'll accept your solution.
This all just reminds me of that bit from Brian Regan's last Netflix special: "I don't alphabetize my bookshelf just because I have OCD. I keep the books I haven't read on the top shelf in the order in which I acquired them, then the next shelf has all the books I'm in the middle of reading in the order in which I started them, then the bottom shelf is all the finished books in the order I finished them. I don't alphabetize them, that'd be INSANE." Heavily paraphrased from memory, of course.
I wonder how many different ways people w/ OCD categorized these items. Like the one about the bars, that was the first thing I noticed before Dan said it (though he probably noticed around the same time I did), but Arin noticed the thickness of the books.

The fact they put the shapes, colors, and patterns on the fruit stickers after the more complex puzzles for a red herring was genius

....I could go on but suffice to say listening to adults talk about real problems like OCD and ADHD with intelligence - referencing their medications, therapy, etc, and acknowledging them as disorders, not fucking adjectives shouldn't be more satisfying than the visuals of a puzzle game built around organizing things in a visually satisfying manner, but it is.

I’m guessing this game is something to relax you and just turn off your brain to since there’s no timer or anything. I also imagine it could be something to play before bed because the music is really relaxing.

It's honestly funny having that very soothing flute play in my ear, but can you just imagine sitting here for hours and hours having that flute never shut the fuck up when you're trying to solve this puzzle?
Even the best of things will be maddening at a long enough level.
Having loved this game and 100%ed it, I was so excited to watch this. I don't think I've ever wanted to yell at the screen more than this episode though 🤣 Of course I understand and feel their pain though.
Hey Dan, I've had OCD my whole life too (my mother used to call me her "little Monk" from the tv show Monk) when I was a teenager I had this ocd where I had to name every color I saw and it got so bad I didn't want to open my eyes because it was so stressful and made me cry. I'm on medication for ocd now and it is way better, still have ocd but mostly just minor things now.

The cat meowing at the start that sounds as if it was placed over everything else scared the shit out of me
I think it would've saved them a lot of frustration if someone had told them about the "let it be" button. Basically, even if your solution isn't the "correct" one or is one the game didn't think of, you can just click "let it be" and it'll accept your solution.
This all just reminds me of that bit from Brian Regan's last Netflix special: "I don't alphabetize my bookshelf just because I have OCD. I keep the books I haven't read on the top shelf in the order in which I acquired them, then the next shelf has all the books I'm in the middle of reading in the order in which I started them, then the bottom shelf is all the finished books in the order I finished them. I don't alphabetize them, that'd be INSANE."

I wonder how many different ways people w/ OCD categorized these items. Like the one about the bars, that was the first thing I noticed before Dan said it (though he probably noticed around the same time I did), but Arin noticed the thickness of the books.
Taking the stickers off would be my first impulse
This was calming until I saw the book solution like 10 minutes before they did and had to sit there while Arin was convinced that he didn't have to move any books to the other side
the overthinking the fruit stickers had me losing my mind LMAO

I was recently diagnosed with OCD, and because I find it overwhelming to have psyche appointments I always play games during these appointments (thank you telehealth). I was diagnosed with ocd WHILE playing a little to the left lmao.
