I don't claim lone wolf, I would hope in a time of distress any brother/sister on 2 wheels would lend a helping hand... I just ride and have a mutual respect for others
Became a member in 2010. In 2011 I purchased a new Fatboy. In 2013 my bike required a new battery and 6 months later the starter went up. Called and called to get road side assistance and no help. Called my Insurance and within a hour my dealer came out with a trailer to take my bike in to have starter replaced. Showed them my HOG membership and they said no discount. They did give me a $100 break as I purchased a lot of Harley clothing and other Harley Items. I also called HOG to see why I still haven't received any magazines.I said you must because I have a membership that I paid for!! I said my membership ends this month so I will not continue to buy another membership. 3 months I received 3 past magazines that I never received with a letter saying a mistake was made. I brought about the poor service that I received concerning poor road assistance. So I've decided now not to continue with HOG. In 2021 I purchased a 2021 Harley Tri Glide as I'm unable to ride a large 2 wheel as I had a Triple Bypass and had difficulty with my Big Harley. A free 1 year HOG membership was included. Once it ran out I tear up HOG news letters sent to me and Ignore emails sent to me by HOG. John
I think many have found partnering with their local dealer as the best option for support. The HOG magazine went all digital and then became the Enthusiast. (Still a quality read) The new changes imply a printed HOG magazine once again for members. The memberships will only work if Harley delivers on the offerings and shows value. Reading comments, blogs and meeting riders the theme I see is a desire to want to love the company and participate in its history. Too often HD has made it really hard to do so. HD must value this desire to be a apart of HDMC.
you're right, a little confusing. but it does seem like a few new enhancements. one benefit i miss is the Enthusiast magazine. I know they still do a digital version (I never look at it), but i really miss sitting down with the magazine when it arrived. there was always some good stuff in there. for some reason it's just not the same digitally .
You are in luck! The HOG magazine is returning in PRINT form for members!! I also enjoy the Enthusiast and ok with reading it on my iPad - this is available to all!
Glad I’m not alone. I have always found these HOG memberships, points and ride programs extremely confusing. Not to mention the process of connecting my HD VISA card to my HOG membership. I think it’s connected, but I really have no idea!
HD has a lot of opportunity here, will be interesting to see how the recent changes play out. Good luck with the Visa linking. I am finding many HD forms require more than one attempt.
Nice work. Best presentation I've seen so far. Speaking as a chapter officer, can I ask for a copy of your spreadsheet so I can present it at our next HOG Chapter meeting? Please advise.
Should accomodate the Australian HOG memberships, most of it we do not use. The price should be cheaper, here in Oz we $85 then extra $35 chapter fees. Many do not join due to cost.
We are grandfathered in! However to get the HOG t-shirt you need to have auto renew checked but I am afraid to try it, will it charge me another $400 Life Member fee? There appears to be no Life member option in the new program either.
Yep I agree it has always been a great organization. I am finding the point program a nice perk and have been able to cash points in already. Good luck with the new bike hunt!
I have not seen this requirement. I assume once you call for help that VIN becomes registered. You can add bikes to your profile which I do mostly so I see compatible parts when browsing the options.
Not sure what HD membership department was thinking. I thought the enhancements were going to be great but like you emphasized this the most confusing tiered program I have ever seen. Your videos helps but my gosh. If your a HOG member already do you sign up separately for the other plans?
So if you are a HOG member you have everything in the top tier. We have learned that the towing benefit is 2 VIN - unlimited mileages to an HD dealer and unlimited # of tows. That adds some good protection for the cost.
But you brought up a good point that the plans don’t build on each other and your spread sheet showed that. So HOG still is missing some things from the others…right? The towing benefit has improved but really isn’t why I enjoy being a HOG member. The forums are full of bad experiences with Harley Davidson Road Service. I love all the other benefits though.
That is confusing as heck. Great video. I hate to admit that i didn't even know all those plans existed. I got a free hog membership when i bought my bike but have really used it yet. Any chance you'd be well to share that spreadsheet? Def seems like a better way to take in the info.
Hey James, got your email but unable to respond to it, I get: Your message wasn't delivered to james@xxxxxxxx because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.
Great video! I was a member back in 2015. I really never did anything with it, so I havnt renewed, but lately I’ve thought about it again.. then You post this video, and makes me want to give it another go.
For sure more options with the program now. Join a local chapter as there is nothing like a good group ride where you can hang back, relax and just follow along. Shout out to all the Road Captains out there!
The feedback has always been mixed on this benefit. You are stuck on the side of the road and then challenged with a language barrier. To me I should be able to just use the app and not have to talk to anyone. Check out this video from @RoadRushNation: th-cam.com/video/FD5i2McMcAw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OvFrkA7AwzyGQ2wc
So if I purchase a $59 dollar plan which actually costs $75 before deductions I can get a $100 tow and visit a HOG meeting.... NO Fn WAY............. Been a HOG member since 1998 and I am not paying a cent for membership ever again Never been to the museum and will probably never be close enough to ever visit... Go to a hog event and get to walk inside and then spend money.. come on guys.. do a reality check...
Cannot argue with your sentiment. Every company is looking for a regular income from its customer and these membership / subscription options will only work if the member sees value on the return. I did want to just note that the towing is for 2 vins and is unlimited, to a dealer at the HOG level. Check out this video on the experience from @RoadRushNation: th-cam.com/video/FD5i2McMcAw/w-d-xo.html
Yes I’m a hog, but what good is it because I tried to use it for a discount and for anything else I can BUT all I get in return is from Harley Davidson is, we don’t except the hog card and I have tried it in several Harley Davidson‘s from where I bought my bike on the West Coast and all the way across to the East Coast. I get the same answer we don’t accept that we don’t recognize that. What good is it? Yes What-good is it? I get to say I’m in a hog group.
That's a bummer, something you could challenge but understand the effort may not be worth it. I know I tried it a Best Western once long ago and got the same message, but it was Sturgis and the room was near $500 / night!
At what point will Harley go too far, I think many are questioning the value. Is there enough desire in the Harley crowd to support the asking price? It is an interesting business case study for sure!
I find this unacceptable and probably illegal from HD. These Terms of Use provide that all disputes between you and Harley-Davidson will be resolved by BINDING ARBITRATION. ACCORDINGLY, YOU AGREE TO GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT TO GO TO COURT (INCLUDING IN A CLASS ACTION PROCEEDING) to assert or defend your rights under these Terms of Use (except for matters that may be taken to small claims court). Your rights will be determined by a NEUTRAL ARBITRATOR and NOT a judge or jury and your claims cannot be brought as a class action. Please review the Section below entitled Dispute Resolution; Arbitration Agreement for the details regarding your agreement to arbitrate any disputes with Harley-Davidson.
Hopefully you won't need any road side assistance but we have some more benefits now to think about If anything the return of the HOG magazine will be nice!
Good video. I’ve been a HOG member for 20 years now. Your explanation and spreadsheet helped clear up the confusion. Thanks.
Very welcome!
Returned my HOG membership when H.D. Teamed up with queer beer. Go woke, go broke.
Okay, gramps😭
I've owned Harley's for a while, never felt the need to feel a part of a group...
Nothing wrong with being a lone wolf. Pure peace and reflection on a sunny morning ride!

Hello! You are in luck I managed to find that file! Send me an email at ITFZoneEmail@gmail.com and I would be happy to send it over to you.
I sent you an email, as I would like a copy of your spreadsheet as well. Thank you in advance

Should accomodate the Australian HOG memberships, most of it we do not use. The price should be cheaper, here in Oz we $85 then extra $35 chapter fees. Many do not join due to cost.
What does this mean for current Life members?
We are grandfathered in! However to get the HOG t-shirt you need to have auto renew checked but I am afraid to try it, will it charge me another $400 Life Member fee? There appears to be no Life member option in the new program either.
I gotta say that I do like the HOG membership, Local and National. When I look at new bikes that willl be part of my consideration.
Yep I agree it has always been a great organization. I am finding the point program a nice perk and have been able to cash points in already. Good luck with the new bike hunt!
How do you get points for purchases? My local dealers either don't know about the program or don't accept it.
So the fine print implies 2024. But it still amazes me how disconnected dealers are from Harley announcements. Something that should be improved on!!
Compared to HOG Australia, you guys are getting a fantastic deal for the same price!
I’m very envious of the benefits you guys receive 👍🤓🇦🇺
Maybe with M$B's influence in AU, Harley will take notice and get this fixed for ya down under!
@@ITFZone we are just to small of a market for them to be to fussed.

Do I have to register the VINs of the bikes I want roadside assistance on?
I have not seen this requirement. I assume once you call for help that VIN becomes registered. You can add bikes to your profile which I do mostly so I see compatible parts when browsing the options.

How do you enter the Life Time HOG membership?
Looks like in the new program it’s no longer an option. Before it was just a choice and went for about $400.

9$ more is what I see 👀 one step closer to over pricing themselves out of business 🙃
